Abstract:
The evaluation of the effect of somatic cells count on ewe’s milk composition, its properties and on the quality of rennet curd was carried using milk samples obtained from a total 10 ewes F112 crossbreeds of Lacaune (L), East Friesian (EF) and Improved Wallachian (IW), reared on a ecological sheep farm in Valašská Bystřice. All ewes were on the 1st lactation, in good nutritive condition and clinically healthy. The sampling was carried on 47th, 81st, 123rd, 152nd and 189th day of lactation. The analysis involved a total of 50 milk samples, which were categorized into 5 different SCC groups: 1st group (≤ 10 000 SC/ml), 2nd group (11 000–50 000 SC/ml), 3rd group (51 000–100 000 SC/ml), 4th group (101 000–200 000 SC/ml), 5th group (≥ 201 000 SC/ml). Milk composition and milk properties were determined by standard methods. For the evaluation of the quality of rennet curd (class quality) was used following scale: 1st class – very good and hard curd, 2nd class – good curd, 3rd class – bad curd, 4th class – very bad curd, 5th class – no or invisible flocculation of casein. Recorded data were statistically analyzed using the classical least squares method (SAS; PROC GLM variant ss4). The SCC had a significant effect on all components of milk under study. The lowest contents of total solids (TS), fat (F), solids non-fat (SNF), protein (P) and casein (CN) were found in the group with the highest SCC (5th group). On the other hand, the highest contents of all above-mentioned milk components were found in the group with the lowest SCC. The significantly lowest content of lactose (4.42 %) was found in the group with the lowest SCC. The SCC had also significant effect on pH and titrable acidity. However on the other hand SCC had not a significant effect on rennetability and rennet curd quality (RCQ). The highest value of pH was found in the 5th group (the highest SCC). Titrable acidity has decreased from 10.10 °SH to 8.66 °SH depending on growth of SCC. The longest rennetability (257 s) was found in the group with the highest SCC. The best RCQ (class: 1.90) was found in the group where SCC per1 ml of milk ranged from 51 000 to 100 000. On the other hand the worst RCQ (class: 2.28) was found in the group with the lowest SCC.

The work is about the formal equality before the material inequality on the domestic labour relation. Although the domestic employees are entitled of minimally fundamental rights to a worthy life, the constant human rights violations reveals that the conquest of equality still appears distant regarding the acknowledgment and respect from the society towards this segment. But why is so hard to secure the rights of the domestic employees? On a search to comprehend such fact, the research starts from the premise that the domestic employee is devalued for being a conflict point for class, gender and race discrimination, and also not considered a profit generating activity. This discrimination that affects the domestic labour is due to a historical, social and legal construction, therefore, firstly, the social and historical contexts regarding the emergence of the domestic class is analyzed, as well as the legal posture adopted referring the job, including the international level, trough the analysis of the 189th Convention from the International Labour Organization. Promptly, the work brings the conception for the equality principle and demonstrates, trough a gender perspective, that the domestic labour is much discriminated due to social residue from slavery and patriarchate, besides being an easy target for the capitalist exploitation. Beyond this, registers the peculiarity of the domestic labour not relying on a supervision system due the home inviolability principle, as well as the difficulty of producing proof on an eventual court litigation. At last, the study confronts the present scenario of the domestic labour in Brazil with the principles of human dignity, citizenship and the social value of work; and analyzes how the instruments from the affirmative actions are being used by the State on the combat agains inequality of this labour relation. The research concludes that the acknowledgment of ratified rights when confronting the inequalities have not produced any effects, as this occupation is widely socially devalued. This way, the implementation of actions aiming to promote a decent work for this category is indispensable, consisting on an important tool to include these historically excluded individuals. For this research there were used, essentially, the historical and bibliographic methods. The pertinence for this study advent from the rising debate around the legal regulation of the domestic employees which involves thousand of women.

Maraun, Timothy Fritz. "Tension in 18th century Chinese painting." Thesis, University of British Columbia, 1990. http://hdl.handle.net/2429/31841.

Full text
Abstract:
In Western scholarship, eighteenth century Chinese paintings have consistently been seen as playful, eccentric, and odd. This characterization has been based on the formal qualities of some of the paintings. At the same time, Chinese scholars have written of the scholarly virtues and ambitions of the painters producing the works. The contradiction between these two interpretations is in part consistent with the Western and Chinese approaches generally. But it also stems from the mixed signals and information generated in the eighteenth century. The nature of painting, not just formally, but socially has yet to be explained in a way which takes into account some actual historical contradictions of the eighteenth century. In order to explain these historical tensions, I combine a biographical (Chinese) approach with a contextual approach (Western) in a study of two different scholar painters, Zheng Xie and Li Shan. I juxtapose biographical sources with artworks, and less official writings relating Zheng Xie and Li Shan, in order to describe the tensions involved in painting for the literatus within the merchant culture of Yangzhou. These tensions existed between the literatus' expected status and that granted him, between his ideal of the role of painting in the scholar's life and the implications of commercial painting, and between his emphasis upon poetry and his popularity as a painter. In all cases, the tensions in eighteenth century literati painting arise from the difficult relationship between the painter and patron, and between the painter and the ideas of a broader public. The lack of a clear definition of "scholar" and "scholar painting" amongst literati illustrates the literatus' loss of control over the definition of his lifestyle.

Abstract:
This thesis examines the participation of Armenians in the shari'a courts of the Ottoman Empire from the 16th to the 18th centuries. Scholars have traditionally thought that Armenians in the Ottoman Empire resolved their disputes within their own communities' legal systems. However, new studies of Ottoman court records reveal that Armenians in the Ottoman Empire frequently used the shari'a courts to resolve a wide variety of disputes. There are several possible reasons to account for this frequent shari'a court use by a community that theoretically had its own courts. The first is that the Armenian millet's legal structures were perhaps exaggerated or misunderstood by previous scholars. The second is that Islamic law was not as unfavourable to dhimmis as presumed and that the shari'a courts were adequate for their needs. Finally, the way the courts applied Islamic law was sometimes advantageous to certain dhimmis.

Arenberg, Nancy May. "Epistolary transvestism: (Re)visions of Heloise (17th-18th centuries)." Diss., The University of Arizona, 1996. http://hdl.handle.net/10150/187498.

Full text
Abstract:
This dissertation analyzed the flourishing of imitative versions of Heloise and Abelard's love correspondence in France in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Current theoretical approaches on epistolarity, narratology, cultural and gender studies were applied to focus on the various transformations (rewriting, veiling, fragmenting) of Heloise's epistles as they fell into the hands of (mostly male) imitators. Close textual analysis was used to investigate how the multiple (re)visions of her epistolary discourse and persona over two hundred years may be indicative of, and have helped construct, ideological changes in expectation concerning the role of women. The introduction traced the historical evolution of the epistolary novel, and the genesis of the lovers' legend in the Classical Age. The medieval love correspondence was initially considered with an analysis of Heloise's dialogic discourse in which the passion is veiled in the palimpsest that is visible under the spiritual language. Particular emphasis was placed on the possibility that Abelard may have altered her epistles as he ignored her desire to see to her salvation. Yet, Abelard was not the only man to intervene in Heloise's epistles. Other subsequent authors practiced what Miller calls "pseudo-feminocentrism" or female impersonation, the technique by which a male author infringes in a "woman's" literary production. In the seventeenth century, many male authors committed a travesty as they invaded Heloise's missives. Grenaille was the first translator to reconstruct Heloise as "La Magdalene Francaise". After this penitent revision of Heloise's persona, Alluis and Bussy-Rabutin effaced her body and reinvented her as a seductive "precieuse". In the eighteenth-century verse translations, Pope and Colardeau also took over Heloise's site of writing, reconstructing her as irrational. But another Enlightenment translator, Louise de Keralio, attempted to repair the learned Heloise, and in the nineteenth century, another woman, under the pseudonym, Marc de Montifaud recovered the erotic body that had been covered by male revisionists before her. The study of these translations over the centuries has demonstrated that Heloise's missives became the site of an ideological "querelle des femmes", and an attempt at constructing "woman".

Abstract:
The dissertation investigates and describes the pronominal clitics of the Old Lithuanian (forms m(i), t(i)). It also provides a detailed inventory of these forms. On the basis of the collected material, declensional meanings of pronominal clitics are evaluated, the position of the forms in a sentence is defined as well as their position in respect of the word to which the pronominal clitic is adjacent. An overview of the evolution of pronominal clitics and the changes of their usage is adduced. The theoretical part of the paper discusses the typological parameters and researches of clitics, as well as the verbal and the second position clitics, and the evolution of multi-language systems of pronominal clitics – an intermediate position between the verbal and the second position clitics. The types of the positions in a sentence of the first and the second person pronominal clitics in the Old Lithuanian are determined. The investigative part of the thesis adduces the usage of the patterns of pronominal clitics in the Lithuanian texts of the 16th-18th centuries, analyzed in detail, in chronological order and according to individual authors. A lot of information about the evolution of the pronominal clitics and the changes of their usage is given on the basis of the editions of different periods of the same text or a set of texts. Among the other conclusions of the thesis, it is noted that the evolution of the pronominal clitics of the Old Lithuanian is typologically similar to... [to full text]
Disertacijoje tiriami ir aprašomi senosios lietuvių kalbos klitiniai įvardžiai (formos m(i), t(i)), pateikiamas išsamus jų sąvadas. Tiriamojoje darbo dalyje chronologiškai ir pagal atskirus autorius išsamiai analizuojama lietuvių XVI—XVIII a. raštų klitinių įvardžių vartosena. Nemažai duomenų apie klitinių įvardžių raidą, vartosenos pokyčius teikiama remiantis to paties teksto ar tekstų rinkinio skirtingų laikotarpių leidimais. Be kitų disertacijos išvadų, pastebėta, kad senosios lietuvių kalbos klitinių įvardžių raida yra tipologiškai artima slavų kalboms. Panašiai kaip jose, lietuvių kalbos senuosiuose raštuose klitiniai įvardžiai rodo stiprią tendenciją eiti greta veiksmažodžio lyčių, nors yra atvejų, kuriuos galima vertinti ir kaip atitinkančius archajišką Wackernagelio poziciją.

The gender distinction between plural adjectival paradigms of обоихъ–обѣихъ is traced back to the 18th century Russian grammars: V. E. Adodurov’s, M. V. Lomonosov’s, A. A. Barsov’s. The data of the Russian Nation-al Corpus show the interchangeability of the forms of обоихъ – обѣихъin the 18th century texts. Differentiation by gender in the Russian plural paradigms was transferred rom the Church Slavonic dual paradigms of обою – обѣю. The metalinguistic construct of grammars of the 18th centuries is preserved in the normative grammars of the mod-ern Russian language, despite the fact that the gender dif-ferentiation of adjectival forms corresponds neither to the system nor to the usus
