Full textThe aim of this thesis is to study the signification of an interdisciplinary work of the group de stijl, thus to go beyond the dichotomic discussion between painting and architecture, between mondrian and van doesburg, even between line and color. Its first part is devoted to draw the basic concepts (spatial relation, dynamism of the elements, architectonic "structuration" and pictural "expression") in order to appreciate constructive quality of the first works of the artists of the group (mondrian, van doesburg, van der leck, huszar and vantongerloo). The second part develops in two acts, respectively given to mondrian and to van doesburg. Their plastic research can be summarize in three categories : definition of the components of each system (constructive and expressive structuring line, color-plan and canvas-plan in mondrian ; destructive and constructive color-plan in the three dimensional space, diagonal lines and the constructive and expressive color partitions in van doesburg) ; introduction of the plastic space generating process (the dynamic structuring of the lines, their sweeping, vibration and coloration, and valorization of colored area in mondrian : valorization of the simultaneity, the use of the musico-mathematic method in van doesburg), adoption of the new spatial ideas (auto-constructivity of the lines and of the colors, resolution of the opposition form void in mondrian ; the spatial diagonality of the space-time in van doesburg). The third part shaws that those two systems come to cross from 1928, in reversing their initial strategies and in changing their plastic polarity (the fusion of line and of color in mondrian, the dualistic use of line and color in van doesburg). This diptych system thus becomes unified in one

Full textThe French writer Patrick Modiano (1945-), the German writer W.G. Sebald (1944-2001) and the Austrian writer Fred Wander (1917-2006) consider the relationship between errance and literature after 1945: They are moved by the absence of the witnesses and the disparition of the past after World War II. Their books are haunted by memory lapses and identity disorder and they present a lot of trips accross worlds ; the characters of Modiano, Sebald and Wander are in exile or in transit, far away from their Heimat, and there are searching for missing peaces of their identity. The memory gaps and errors, the difficulty of being, the uncertainties and the dialogues with the out of text world (the space outside the text, the past History, the recall, the reader, the intertextuality and intermediality) compose the matter of writing. The books by the three writers, Honeymoon and Dora Bruder by Modiano, The Emigrants and Austerlitz by Sebald, Hôtel Baalbek and Das gute Leben by Wander, are wandering between fiction and reality and not corresponding the literary norms: are they novels,Bildungsromane, investigation reports, memoirs, or (auto)biographies? These hybrid and multi-level narratives combine voices, confuse the issue, collect the individual, collective and cultural memory and keep the meaning and the direction of the texts, so the narrative transmission, in suspense. The trope of errance leads also to the exploration of the identity and the memory of the texts themselves and the (re)consideration of the role of the reader after 1945

Full textThis thesis is a contribution to the institutional history of the Russian Orthodox Church from 1917 to 1931. It emphasizes how the Russian Church was affected by the Revolution of 1917, the fall of monarchy, and the rise to power of the Bolsheviks. The importance of the 1917-1918 Local Council, which has restored the canonical and administrative forms of the Russian Church, is underlined: the synodal system governed by an ober-prokuror was abolished and Patriarch Tikhon was elected. The 1917-1918 Local Council and Patriarch Tikhon reacted to political changes in the country, particularly after the October Revolution, causing persecutions against the Church, the arrest of Patriarch Tikhon, and affecting the policy of the Russian Church after 1923. The ecclesial emigration that had left Russia from Crimea, first to Turkey, instigated the organization of administrative forms of the Russian Church Abroad in Serbia, through the 1921 Council of ail ecclesial emigration in Karlovci. The ecclesial emigration had to define its relationships with the Moscow Patriarchate, The hierarchs abroad did not consider any break with Moscow at first, but the situation changed after the death of Patriarch Tikhon in 1925. It was a time of division within the Russian Church Abroad but also a time when normal relations with Moscow became impossible. The Locum Tenens, Metropolitan Peter, had been arrested by the Bolsheviks and Metropolitan Sergius, who replaced him, was forced to make significant concessions to the Soviet power. Metropolitan Sergius's demand to the Russian clergy abroad to give a commitment of loyalty to the Soviet regime in 1927 and its Declaration in 1927 provoked negative reactions abroad. The Synod of Bishops Abroad chaired by Metropolitan Anthony broke with Moscow in 1927, and the clergy of Metropolitan Eulogius joined the Patriarchate of Constantinople in 1931. The consequences were painful for the Moscow Patriarchate since this institution has lost all major parishes in Western Europe
