Based on a revision of historical and taxonomic accounts, we showed that Felis fasciatus Larrañaga, 1923, represents the oldest available Linnean name referable to the pampas cat endemic to the Uruguayan Savannah ecoregion, currently regarded as Leopardus munoai (Ximénez 1961). To anchor the name Felis fasciatus to Uruguayan specimens, we designated a neotype for this taxon with terra typica in Estancia San Cristóbal, Arroyo Limetas, Conchillas, Department of Colonia, Uruguay. Having a wide knowledge of New Zealand plants, and a very competent grasp of post-war natural product chemistry, he was well qualified to take up lichens at a period when chemosystematics was just becoming important in the group. His early published work was to influence the emerging field of lichen bioactive compounds, and 50 years later, generic concepts in the Lobariaceae. Dans chacun des récits, la représentation du corps noir est le pivot des relations qui unit les personnages noirs et blancs. Abstract If scientific method included a recipe for making discoveries (as opposed to piling up data), this book would have been shorter. Anything resembling method, however, is restricted to the time after one has made a discovery, or thinks one has done so. Only then can something methodical be applied to see if there’s anything to it. This is a far cry from the popular idea of scientific method. According to a distinguished classicist, for example, “the scientist is no doubt rigidly objective: he collects the facts relevant to a problem and makes no conclusions that the facts do not justify

Political parties started to be established in Turkey in the second half of the 19th century with the formation of societies aiming at the reform of the Ottoman Empire.
