Approche qui se veut grammaticale du texte de driss chraibi. Dans notre projet de lecture nous nous sommes limite au cycle romanesque marocain. Six romans dont l'action se passe au maroc. Il s'agit du passe simple, de l'ane, de succession ouverte, de la civilisation ma mere|. . . , une enquete au pays et de la mere du printemps. Une etude actancielle et actorielle s'inspirant des travaux de propp, greimas, coquet, rastier et des travaux reazlises par l'ecole de paris en general. Cette analyse "semiotique" s'accompagne d'une etude narratologique se basant essentiellement des travaux de g. Genette (figure iii) ainsi que des articles de la revue poetique; l'analyse est focalisee sur la notion de personnage d'ou le recours a p. Hamon ce projet de lecture aurait ete plus operationnel si les reseaux lexicaux-semantiques qui traversent le texte avaient fait l'objet d'une etude systematique. Ils apparaissent neanmoins tout au long du travail
Grammatical approach from the text of driss chraibi. In our study, we limited ourselves to the moroccan romantic cycle : six novels in which the action takes place in morocco. They are : "le passe simple", "l'ane", "succession ouverte", "la civilisation ma mere| ", "une enquete au pays" and "la mere du printemps". Astudy of the behaviour and pruposes of the characters in the story according to the research of propp, greimas, coquet, rastier and more generally speaking : the study made by l'ecole de paris. This semiatic analysis is compled by a narrotologic study based on the work of g. Genette (figure iii) and some articles from the revue poetique. The analysis focuses on the concept of personnage thus : the use of p. Haman's book. Some lexical and semantic research have been carried out throughout the study

Entré bruyamment en littérature, Driss Chrai͏̈bi a imprimé un élan novateur à la littérature maghrébine d'expression française, durant trois générations. Son œuvre protéiforme laisse entrevoir une profonde continuité : elle explore divers registres, des plus virulents aux plus rieurs, et met en place de nombreux jeux de masques, mais elle s'érige aussi autour de constantes thématiques et de traits stylistiques récurrents. Lourde de tout un héritage qu'elle convoque au gré de multiples résonances intertextuelles, cette œuvre brasse les influences les plus diverses : elle s'enrichit de nouvelles strates jusqu'à devenir un véritable palimpseste. L'expérience radiophonique de l'auteur, interférant avec sa production romanesque, a été l'occasion d'affiner une technique polyphonique, déterminante dans la composition des œuvres. Ce travail tente de rendre compte de la complexité des imbrications interdiscursives et hypertextuelles qui structurent le texte chrai͏̈bien, fondé sur la spécularité et la reprise de matériaux de prédilection : entre surimpression et recréation, un mythe personnel s'esquisse au fil des œuvres, remodelant des motifs obsessionnels, révélant une écriture volontiers réflexive et ouverte cependant à l'incessante recréation
The fiction of Driss Chrai͏̈bi, one of the major Maghrebian writers of French expression, has undergone many transformations since its iconoclastic beginning, during the struggle for independence from colonialism. Considered as the "rebel son", the author seeks his path through two cultures in a quest for identity, ceaselessly celebrating multiculturalism. Nonetheless, the great variety of his work doesn't lack a firm homogeneity. The aim of this research, in the already prolific critical literature of Driss Chrai͏̈bi's fiction, is to provide an overview of the main themes and textual components of his work: the dynamics of the narrative process show a textual strategy between gaps and repetition. Intertextuality appears to have a key role in the creative process: Chrai͏̈bi's writing is constantly dragging along numerous references, based on "Western" as well as "Eastern" inspiration, and the discursive structure reveals overlapping forms of real and invented intertexts. At first subverting narrative linearity, those interactions are progressively combined in simultaneous lines, in a literary counterpoint on the musical model. Obsessive themes highlight and focus attention on repetitive imagery, within the constant metamorphosis of Chrai͏̈bi's work; symbolic patterns of a personal myth underline the specific language the author is using to recreate his own literary universe

La premiere partie se propose d'analyser l'onomastique comme procede de reconnaissance et comme reseau complexe d'identification du personnage. Si le nom est le signe qui permet au lecteur de cerner l'effet-personnage, les qualifica tions, a travers le systeme portrographique et celui des objets, participent a sa construction et a son evolution. Cette deuxieme partie met en scene, par la description, des portraits antithetiques types ou conflictuels qui seront concretises a travers les differentes strategies du discours que developpent la troisieme partie. La dimension du discours manifeste aussi une charge singuliere ou l'imaginaire et le reel cohabitent. Elle inscrit en filigrane la personne dans le personnage. La derniere partie met en relief cet aspect autobiographique qui constitue une dialectique entre le vecu et le fictif entre la personne et le personnage
This research is concerned with the character in driss chraibi's le passe simple, les boucs and succession ouverte. It is proposed as an attempt at analysing some aspects of the literary character in relation to the actual person. The first part is an attempt at analysing the onomastic system as a proceeding for recognition and as a complex net work for the identification of the character. If the name is the sign which permits the reader to encircle the character effect, the qualifications through the portrographic system and through the system of objects contribute to its construction. The second part introduces, via description, typified or conflictive antithetic portraits which will be re vealed by means of different discourse strategies that are developped in the third part. The dimension of discourse, als o, reveals a particular load where imagination and reality coexist. It implicitly inspires person through character. The last part sets off this autobiographical aspect

Devant une problématique si riche et si difficile, pourra-t'on expliquer comment Chraibi a réalisé une certaine synthèse, après une période de contestation radicale, suivie d'une phase marquée par des interrogations sur la femme ? ainsi l'étude de son oeuvre se déploie sur trois volets : un premier volet la "révolte" analysera tout particulièrement ses deux premiers romans, le "Passé simple" (1954) et les boucs (1955) et ses attaques véhémentes contre, d'une part la societé arabe, et d'autre part la societé française ; la seconde partie, la "crise de la femme" illustrera les nuances que l'auteur a apportées à ses jugements antérieurs, à la lumiere de "un ami viendra vous voir" (1967), la "civilisation ma mere !. . . The foundation of the works of the moroccan novelist driss chraibi is an attempt to reconcile a mystic and muslim he could never rid himself, of and a western contribution which must necessarily be integrated in order to reach an arabe model wisch would be a balance between the eastern and the western worlds. In the face of such a complex and difficult issue, is it possible to explain how chraibi has to some extent achieved this synthesis after a stage of radical opposition followed by a period when he questioned himself on the woman ? thus the study of his works can be divided into three parts. The first part "the rebellion" deals more particularly with his first two novels passe simple (1954) and les boucs (1955), and with his violent criticism against the arab society on the other hand. The second part "the crisi of the woman" illustrates the shades of opinion given by writer himself on his former judgements. . .

Aucune n'est venue mettre en relief le dialogue de cet auteur avec le public dans la société d'origine, ni l'originalité des textes formant ses derniers récits. C'est ce qui a été tente dans la présente recherche composée de deux parties: réception critique de Driss Chraïbi et écriture, langage et idéologie. La première est une étude systématique visant la détermination de la place de Chraïbi parmi d'autres auteurs maghrébins dans le milieu marocain, des attentes et aspirations des lecteurs potentiels. La deuxième est une analyse, à travers le substrat linguistique maternel, l'ironie et la parodie, de l'idéologie de l'auteur et celle(s) de ses personnages, de leurs rapports au pouvoir, à l'islam, à la tradition et à la modernité
Studies on Driss Chraïbi work are numerous, but in most cases, they are all about the theme of rebellion which in his early novels. None of them has tried to stress this writer's dialogue with the readers in his society of origin or the originality of the texts in his later novels. This is what we have tried to do in this research which is made up of two parts: a critical reception of Driss Chraïbi and his writing, his language and ideology. The first part is a systematic study aiming to determine Chraïbi 's place among the maghrebin writers in the Moroccan environment, and also the expectations and aspirations of potential readers. The second part ios an analysis through the linguistic substratum of the mother tongue, irony, parody, the writer's ideology and that or those of his characters, and their relationships with power, Islam, tradition and modernity

Après avoir rappelé quelques grandes étapes de la constitution de la critique, cette thèse se propose de vérifier dans quelle mesure l'étude du paratexte trouve sa place dans la description des faits littéraires, et ouvre de nouvelles pistes de réflexion. L'auteur retenu, Driss Chraïbi, appartient au domaine de la littérature francophone maghrébine, dont l'historique est retracé. Le corpus rassemble l'œuvre romanesque de l'écrivain, de 1954 à nos jours. La valeur heuristique de l'outil est testée dans deux grandes directions. Tout d'abord, l'étude du paratexte auctorial permet de vérifier la portée des dédicaces, qui témoignent du poids de l'histoire collective, individuelle, et des aspects constitutifs de l'imaginaire de l'écrivain retenu, avant de conclure sur ce que les dédicaces apportent à la compréhension du statut des personnages. L'analyse des formes et des fonctions des épigraphes révèle un désir pédagogique, un besoin de dénonciation, et la création d'effets de relais entre divers cycles narratifs. Le travail sur les notes de pages permet de préciser le rapport de l'auteur à l'exotisme, à l'oralité, au bilinguisme. Enfin, l'attention accordée à certains aspects du paratexte éditorial, titres, intertitres. Tables des matières, prières d'insérer et couvertures, révèle l'existence possible d'écarts entre le projet de l'écrivain et les intérêts de l'éditeur. Une réflexion finale sur le genre indique sur les premières de couvertures autorise à dégager le sentiment de l'histoire a l'œuvre dans les textes
After recalling a few of the main stages of the literary critic, this thesis proposes to verify how the study of the paratext finds its way in the description of literary facts and opens new ways of reflexions. The chosen author, Driss Chraïbi, belongs to the french speaking literature from the maghreb, literature which history is related. The corpus incluses the novelistic works of the writer, from 1954 to nowadays. The heuristic value of the device is tested through! Two main directions. First of all, the study of the paratext made by the author allows to verify the reach of the dedicaces, which bespeaks the weight of collective and individual history, and the setting-up of the writer's imaginative capacity, before concluding about the status of the characters. The analysis of shapes and functions of the epigraphes reveals a desire for pedagogy, a need for denunciation, and the creation of go-betweens among several narratives cycles. The work about indications allows to precise the author's taste for exotism, for oral character, for bilinguism. Afterwards, the study of a part of the editorial paratext, titles, intertitles, contents, please inserts, book-covers, reveals possible differences between the writer's projects and the editor's interests. A final reflexion about the indicated genre on the first book-cover allows to bring out the feeling of history which is present in the texts

L'objectif de cette thèse est de mettre en évidence, à travers des auteurs ou des genres différents, les spécificités d'une esthétique commune : l'emblématique, caractérisant aussi bien l'écriture surréaliste que la figuration aux XVIe et XVIIe siècles. On montrera d'abord que certains principes de composition au XXe siècle (collages, idéogrammes) reproduisent l'esprit des livres d'emblèmes à la Renaissance; la recherche d'un nouveau langage y accompagne une révolution de la pensée se défaisant d'un modèle théologique de symbolisation (transsubstantiation des signifiants) pour lui substituer les principes d'une sémiotique (arbitraire du signe). On étudiera ensuite les modalités de cette esthétique dans l'œuvre d'André Breton, de Julien Gracq et de Michel Butor; dans ses principes, son écriture et ou sa poétique, le récit prend la forme d'un méta-symbolisme exposant le postulat du signe ascendant pour mieux le dénoncer. On analysera enfin la vision du monde qui se fait jour dans un tel récit : espace, temps et mythe dessinent alors la cartographie de l'homme emblématique, écartelé entre sa fascination pour les symboles et l'aporie que lui opposent les signes
The aim of this thesis is to point out typical features of the aesthetics common to surrealism and the renaissance's emblematics. The first part will analyze the similarities between the twentieth century "collages" and the structure of emblem books from sixteenth to seventeenth century: in both cases the quest for a new language may be seen to have links with the replacement of symbolism and theological thought with semiotics and the arbitrariness of the linguistic sing. We will then study how Breton’s, Gracq's and Butor's works coincide with a reappearance of the emblematic mode, in the way that the grounds and purposes of symbolism are displayed yet questioned through writing. The last part deals with the treatment of space, time and myths in these texts; man is shown as an "homo emblematicus" torn between his fascination for symbols and the silence of the signs

Cette thèse propose une description du mouvement philosophique nord-américain contemporain couramment appelé « philosophie post-analytique ». La génération d'auteurs apparue après Wittgenstein est l'héritière directe de la pensée qu'il développa. En Amérique, les critiques wittgensteiniennes de l'analyse que l'on trouve dans les investigations philosophiques ont inspiré un mouvement qui dépasse largement les confins établis par la philosophie analytique. Ce dépassement est marqué par la réappropriation de l'histoire au sein de la philosophie et par une nouvelle importance accordée à l'éthique. Le mouvement post analytique est un mouvement de philosophies éthiques post-wittgensteiniennes. Une lecture des œuvres de trois auteurs de ce mouvement, Richard Rorty, Stanley Cavell et Charles Taylor, permet de mettre en lumière l'influence profonde que Wittgenstein a exercée sur leurs idées. On observe parallèlement un autre phénomène : de façon systématique, ces auteurs associent les idées de Wittgenstein à celles d'un ou de plusieurs autres penseurs. Rorty et Cavell s'appuient sur la tradition de la philosophie américaine, et Taylor remonte au "sturm und drang', pour effectuer ce que je suis amené à appeler le « greffage » d'idées fait autour de Wittgenstein.

Abstract:
The essay traces Bruno Trentin's political biography and intellectual research from a transnational perspective. Through the work notebooks (1953-1995), the diaries on the CGILGeneral Secretary (1988-1994), the activity in the European Parliament (1999-2004) and the following two years, the elaboration of The Freedom Comes First(2005) is rooted in a long term criticism against the subalternity of the communist and social-democratic culture to the Fordist model. It is also based on the necessity of a libertarian socialism, based on the centrality of the person and on the unavoidable link between work and knowledge. What stands outis the originality of Trentin's political thought, the intellectual circuit in which his research is developed and his vision of a federal Europe in the international system following the Cold War and the aftermath of September 11th, 2001.

Chapter 5 analyzes Driss Chraïbi’s (1926–2007) controversial 1954 novel Le passé simple [the Simple Past], which traces the rebellion of nineteen-year-old Driss Ferdi against his seemingly pious wealthy father Haj Ferdi. Readings of the novel as an orientalist portrayal of Moroccan culture and a heretical attack on Islam resulted in a decades-long controversy known as l’affaire Chraïbi, as well as a government ban until 1977. The novel stages a double-critique against colonial and nationalist teleologies—a tension that emerges most explicitly in its engagement with the Qurʾan. The chapter investigates the novel’s critique of imbricated modes of genealogical historical inscription under Protectorate Morocco: French imperial discourses of civil society and the Moroccan monarchy’s, and Hajj Ferdi’s, filiation with the Prophet Muhammad. It argues that Chraïbi offers an alternative mode of ethical agency in the recurring image of la ligne mince [the thin line]: a hallucinatory apparition with Qurʾanic and Sufi valences that haunts the narrator throughout the novel.

Abstract:
The practice of adoption of children, and the terminology, existed in Scotland long before it was created as a legislative process. This chapter looks at the roots of adoption of children, in the benign informal adoption arrangements families and communities made, and in the malign money-driven practice of “baby-farming”. Demands for regulation grew after the First World War, and the Parliamentary debates on what became the Adoption of Children Act 1926 is covered in some detail. Thereafter the chapter explores all the legislative changes, bringing in forbidden degrees, damages for wrongful death and succession, this presented to show how adoption only gradually embraced the “full-transference of parenthood” model that it has today. The change throughout the 20th century from an essentially private arrangement to the end-game of public law child protection processes is analysed in some detail, especially in relation to the court’s ability to dispense with parental consent. Finally, the motivations behind the sub-adoption order, known as the Permanence Order, created in 2007, is examined.

Regional studies and activities related to the El Niño–Southern Oscillation (ENSO) and other oscillations, seasonal climate prediction, and agricultural impacts are in progress around the world (figure 7.1). Here we describe some regional impacts and programs in place that are entraining climate information into decision making. Elements of these activities include the definition of the agricultural or other targeted systems; exploration of the social, political, and cultural contexts; examination of the temporal and spatial patterns of physical and biological impacts related to ENSO; analysis of economic effects; development and testing of seasonal climate forecasts and their delivery; investigation of crop management and other adaptations leading to implementation of dynamic risk-management strategies; and the development and evaluation of programs. In northern Peru, El Niño events bring torrential rains and floods that damage crops by eroding slopes, silting valleys, and oversaturating soils. The precipitation regime of Chile is likely to be intensified as well when El Niño events occur (Meza et al., 2003). Downscaled seasonal climate forecasts and crop growth models have been used to evaluate the impact of ENSO and management responses on crops in the Andean highlands of Peru (Baigorria, 2007); and Meza (2007) combined stochastic modeling of meteorological variables, a simple soil crop algorithm, and a mathematical programming model to assess the value of ENSO information for irrigation in the Maipo River Basin, Chile. Central America, being a narrow strip of land tightly squeezed between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, is particularly influenced by major global climate variability systems, especially the El Nino–Southern Oscillation and the Arctic Oscillation (AO; M. Campos and P. Ramirez, personal communication, 2007; Rosenzweig et al., 2007). El Niño events are associated with dry summers on the Pacific coast and wet summers on the Caribbean coast, while the opposite pattern is associated with La Niña. A decrease in winter rainfall on the Caribbean coast since the late 1970s has been linked to changes in the Arctic Oscillation. Events with important economic and social consequences affected Central America in 1926, 1945–56, 1956–57, 1965, 1972–73, 1982–83, 1992–94, and 1997–98 (Ramirez, 2005).

Abstract:
Many studies have been performed to investigate the contribution of wall shear stress (WSS) to pathophysiological processes related to atherosclerosis (Groen, et al., 2007; Kaazempur-Mofrad, et al., 2004; Ku, et al., 1985). To investigate these relationships in stenosed human carotid arteries, accurate assessment of WSS is required. WSS can be calculated in vivo by coupling medical imaging and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). However, often patient specific in- and outflow information is unavailable. Therefore flow through the common (CCA), internal (ICA) and external (ECA) carotid artery needs to be estimated. Murray’s law (Murray, 1926) is often used for that purpose, but it is unclear whether this law holds for stenosed arteries. The goal of this study was to determine outflow boundary conditions for WSS calculations in stenosed carotid bifurcations. Therefore we first quantified the flow (Q) in carotid arteries with different degrees of area stenosis using phase-contrast MRI and determined an empirical relation between outflow-ratios and degree of area stenosis. Secondly we compared the estimated flow ratio based on Murray’s law to the ones measured by MRI. Finally we analyzed the influence of the outflow conditions on the calculated WSS using CFD.
