Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
évi 139,1 ezer km 2-ről 1920-ra 295,9 ezer km 2-re nőtt, azaz a román állam 156,8 ezer km2 területi nyereséget könyvelhetett el a közép-európai átrendeződés következtében. Az így megszülető Nagy-Románia egyik kulcskérdése a közigazgatási térfelosztás, melynek jelentőségét jól mutatja, hogy a 20. század folyamán a román politikai elit 12 alkalommal hajtott végre közigazgatási reformot (1926, 1929, 1936, 1938, 1950, 1952, 1956, 1960, 1968, 1981, 1991, 1998). Ezek a közigazgatási reformok általában a megyerendszert próbálták megreformálni. Jelen tanulmány a szocialista korszak azon négy közigazgatási reformját (1950, 1952, 1956, 1960) elemzi, melyek a megye helyett tartományi rendszert akartak Románián belül működtetni, illetve a tanulmány záró részében röviden kitér az 1968. évi reformra, mely visszaállította a megyerendszert.

Abstract:
Before the introduction of planned vaccination against diphtheria in Tatarstan, the number of diphtheria cases per 100 thousand people was 25.3 in 1920-1929 - 25.3, 1930-1939 - 66.5, 1940-1949 - 75.4, 1950-1959 - 67,2. Planned vaccination, which began in 1955-1956, contributed to a decrease in the number of cases. Over the following decades, the average incidence rate per 100,000 population steadily decreased and was in 1960-1969 - 5.2, 1970-1979 - 0,07. However, in 1982-1985 there was a slight increase in the number of diphtheria cases, so the average morbidity rate for 1980-1989 slightly increased (0.09 per 100 thousand population).

Abstract:
The aim of this thesis is to examine how Christianity and fascism can be concatenated. The thesis has been conducted as a descriptive content analysis of the Swedish Association of Religious Reform (Sveriges Religiösa Reformförbund), established in 1929. In order to identify the Association’s socio-theological project and agenda, a Foucauldian inspired social constructionism theory has been applied. This thesis argues that by relying on a mission to ‘complete’ the Lutheran Reformation, which considered religion and culture alike, the Association’s struggle for a religious ‘rebirth’ also referred to the rebirth of Swedish culture and society. This assumption was correlated with contemporary conceptions of ‘race’ and Jews, culminating into the perception of Jesus as a masculine Aryan ideal.

Abstract:
The introduction focuses on Humphrey Jennings' (1907-1950) accomplishments, and what studies have been done on him, and how he is relatively unknown in France. The first part evokes Jennings' life, his literary and artistic engagements, including the crucial roles he played in the British surrealist movement, the founding of Mass Observation and his compilation on the Industrial Revolution, Pandaemonium. The second part is about Jennings the filmmaker. It begins with a short history of the British documentary film movement and Jennings' first films. With the outbreak of the Second World War, Jennings devoted himself to making propaganda films. Drawing from British tradition, these poetic documentaries had a profound effect on civilians and raised their moral. Today, they remain the most moving and true accounts of that time. Detailed analysis of these films follow. Jennings died accidentally in 1950. But his work is underrated. Some critics even believing his reputation to depend solely on the exceptional circumstances of the war. This thesis assumes the total of Jennings' work as poet, painter and filmmaker in order to establish his place as major artist of the twentieth century

Abstract:
The Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht's partnership has established itself to the most significant of the Weimar Republic. Composed between 1927 and 1929, the opera Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny is both emblematic and purpose-made for such ideas like "epic opera" or "Song", that are resultant of the author's reflections about relationship between music and theatre. In a 1929 paper, Kurt Weill has lead to the "gestic character of music", which is relevant to local drama events as well as the global construction of the form. The aim of this study is to understand this particular musical feature in the period of the collaboration between Weill and Brecht during the creation phase of Mahagonny. The approach wants to focus on musical analysis, to understand how musical idiom can both lead the dramaturgy and shape its form

Abstract: This thesis aimed to comprehend and analyze the configuration of sportswear in the city of Belo Horizonte, indicating traces of an education of the body associated to it. We also tried to identify ideas of the body, clothing and behavior that circulated throughout that capital seeking to recognize interlocutors, projects and institutions involved in those prescriptions of fashion. For that, we defined as sources, documents that circulated throughout the city from 1929 and 1950, such as magazines, memoirs and iconographic documents. The development of this research allowed us to realize the importance of sportswear for the reconfiguration of bodies and behaviors in Belo Horizonte. The new urban culture, based on the modernization of habits and customs of the population, proposes a new model of body which configures new dressing patterns. The clothes destined to body practices become a necessity along the time slowly drawing new ways of ?appearing to be?, exhibiting parts of the body that were once hidden and modeling the outline of the new body, stiffed by sports. In order to make all those conceptions of clothing and body circulate, the magazines were driven to publicize images through the sections of fashion, publicity and photographs of sporting events. Thus, sportswear, in its materiality, meanings and purposes, effectively took place in a revolution of the appearances and behaviors of the capital of the State of Minas Gerais

Abstract:
This study examines La Tentación del Fracaso Diario Personal written by Julio Ramón Ribeyro, a peruvian writer. The analysis focuses on the influence of ennui in the diarist’s inner, external and artistic world. After defining ennui as an illnes of soul and body that affects people with special sensitivity, we find the writer’s inner world analysis that reveals his sad, apathetic and inactive mood suffering from chronic depression. The writer tells us how he struggles with the external world full of adversity and difficulties due to bad health, economic problems, disorder and chaos caused by his bohemian lifestyle and lack of inspiration for his literary work, situations that limit, discourage and depress his dejected spirit. Despondency and frustration are evident in the writers’s artistic life affecting his fictional literary production during periods of creative paralysis, that turn to be productive for La Tentación del Fracaso when the diarist writes in his diary confessing his bleakness and anguish.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The paper presents the results of the historical study of the population formation in Ekaterinburg over a 300-year period. Historical sources and the process of accumulating knowledge about the number of city residents were examined. Analysis of population data revealed that the process of collecting demographic information on Russia (and, accordingly, on Ekaterinburg) took a century and a half (from the 18th century until almost the 1870s). The role of the head of the Ekaterinburg mining plants, academician I. F. Herman, in the development of population tables is shown. Since 1873, when the first one-day census of the city’s population was conducted, and then 1887, statistical and demographic information has become representative. The main source for examining the population formation of the city were the censuses of 1897, 1920, 1923, 1926, 1931, 1937, 1939, 1959, 1979, 1989, 2002, 2010, as well as the current population records. A brief review of historical literature showed that the study of the population of Ekaterinburg is in its infancy.

Abstract:
During a vivid period of fifteen years between 1954 and 1969, there’s a paradigm shift from conservative models defined by the modern movement to self-organizing systems. Two parallel lines can explain this profound transformation: on one side, by the statements or manifestos in opposition to closed systems and, on the other, by the influences of scientific theories at the time. Six manifestos with a certain interdisciplinary condition, associated to fields such as biology, chemistry, cybernetics or self-organization, change the direction of this new emerging urbanism: The Doorn Manifesto (1954), Oskar Hansen’s Open Form Manifesto (1959), Yona Friedman’s Principles of Mobile Urbanism (1959), the Metabolist Manifesto (1960), Additive architecture by Jorn Utzon (1958-1970) and finally the provocative experiment-manifesto "Non-Plan: An Experiment in Freedom” by Paul Barker, Peter Hall, Reyner Banham and Cedric Price

Abstract:
The purpose of this study is to observe the overall picture of translations of Chinese literature for children into Russian language from the first editions to the present day. In addition to compiling a complete chronological list of all Chinese books translated into Russian from the category of children’s reading, our tasks included identifying and characterizing the main periods, trends and patterns in the development of translation and book publishing of Chinese children’s literature in Russian, analyzing the dynamics of translations in different years, analyzing the activities of translators who contributed to the development of cultural ties between the two countries, listing the names of the best illustrators, whose work played an important role in popularizing Chinese literature for children, identifying the main problems in translation and publication of children’s Chinese books in Russia at different periods. After studying the general picture of translations of Chinese literature for children into Russian, as well as taking into account the nature of historical events and political relations between China and Russia, we propose to distinguish the following seven periods in translation: 1779–1917; 1918–1949; 1950–1959; 1960–1980; 1981–1991; 1992–2013; since 2014.

Abstract:
Abstract: Le Corbusier’s work and thought are a predominant influence over the Modern Movement, and their worldwide spreading acquired a significant dimension during the Second Post-War period. Such predominance of the architectural models conveyed by Le Corbusier may have originated in the rationale enunciated in his written work, which clearly explains a set of doctrinaire parameters, or in his active determinant role in international organisations such as the CIAM, but particularly in his ability to become a global architect, which led to a large international publication of his work. This paper intends to analyse the significance of the Corbusian legacy in architectural production in Angola and Mozambique during the 1950s and 1960s. These two former Portuguese colonies, far away from the centre of power dominated by the dictatorship of the so-called Estado Novo, were tantamount to a land of freedom and were, for a significant range of young architects working and building there, a laboratory for testing new languages of the Modern Movement, particularly on the basis of the Corbusian vocabulary. Two of those young architects Vasco Vieira da Costa (1911- 1982) and Fernão Simões de Carvalho (1929-), who worked in Angola from the beginning of the 50s, were trainees in Le Corbusier’s Paris ateliers. In addition to the work developed by those two architects, the specificity of the architectural production in Angola and Mozambique, particularly private order work, is clearly referenced to the Corbusian lexicon, whether in a more orthodox or a more hybrid way. Abstract:
Communication Action Zones in Art and Technology, in portuguese Zonas de Ações Comunicacionais em Arte e Tecnologia – ZACAT – is a master's research developed in Brazil, made before and during the SARS-CoV-2 virus pandemic, which causes the New Coronavirus disease. This artistic and academic work includes a set of sound and visual poetics based on an investigation of artistic communicational practices of an activist character, with the mediation of several questions about the current Brazilian history. Firstly, through diversified strategies and proposals for different interlocutors, with experiments in 2019, in different spaces in the city of Santa Maria, state of Rio Grande do Sul - streets, museums, art galleries, university, school, social networks, radio wave space. Subsequently, as a result of the world scenario presented from 2020, with the COVID-19 pandemic, the poetic undergoes significant transformations. In addition to the artistic and communicational strategies undergoing changes in approach, the Santa Maria space moves to that of the Clube Naturista Colina do Sol (CNCS), a naturist community located in the municipality of Taquara, also in Rio Grande do Sul. Not urbanized and immersed with the wild environment the least interfered by human action, which provides other forms of listening and connection, in addition to the relationship with the body, communication and technology, such as the use of online virtual reality platforms to share the work carried out. To approach the construction of this research, studies on methodology by the researcher and artist Sandra Rey (1953) are used. As a theoretical foundation, reference is made to the idea of micropolitics, a concept that refers to philosophers Michel Foucault (1926-1984) and Gilles Deleuze (1925-1995) and to art critic Suely Rolnik (1948). Activist artistic practices are based on the experiences of Brazilian collectives from the 1990’s to the present, as seen under the historiography of Art Activism from the 1950’s, with Italian autonomist philosophers such as Giorgio Agamben (1942) and Franco Berardi (1949). To support the notion of Art and Communication, authors such as Mario Costa (1936), Fred Forest (1933), Mônica Tavares, Priscila Arantes, Christine Mello and Giselle Beiguelman are based on. The concept of device emerges from theoretical research and mediates artistic practices, having as reference Agamben, Foucault, Vilém Flusser (1920-1991) and Gilbert Simondon (1924-1989). From performances, through installations, through audio, video and face-to-face interactivity experiments or via virtual networks, this research seeks to give visibility to everyday micropolitics, with their memories, affections, formalized or ephemeral life impulses in moments of encounters. And how the artistic works can unfold in different contexts, in front of different audiences and under challenging conditions in terms of a larger historical context.

Abstract:

Abstract:
The US Congress codified the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (NHPA), the nation’s most effective cultural resources legislation to date, mostly through establishing the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The NHPA requires Federal agencies to address their cultural resources, which are defined as any prehistoric or historic district, site, building, structure, or object. Section 110 of the NHPA requires Federal agencies to inventory and evaluate their cultural resources, and Section 106 requires them to determine the effect of Federal undertakings on those potentially eligible for the NRHP. Fort Hunter Liggett is located on California’s Central Coast within Monterey County. The fort has been used as a training facility for large-scale maneuvers and live-fire exercises since its establishment as a US Army training facility in 1941. The periods of significance for Criterion A are: from 1769 to 1833, relating to the founding and development of Mission San Antonio de Padua; from 1834 to 1923, relating to Euro-American land grants and ranchos; from 1923 to 1940, relating to Hearst’s purchase of the property and subsequent development; from 1940 to 1945, relating to the establishment of the Hunter Liggett Military Reservation (HLMR) and activities related to WWII; from 1959 to 1970, relating to the establishment and buildup of CDEC; and from 1975 to 1980, relating to HLMR’s redesignation as Fort Hunter Liggett and associated development. This report provides a comprehensive historic context for ranges, features, and buildings at Fort Hunter Liggett in support of Section 110 of the NHPA.

Thomas, M. D. Magnetic and gravity characteristics of the Thelon and Taltson orogens, northern Canada: tectonic implications. Natural Resources Canada/CMSS/Information Management, 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.4095/329250.

Full text
Abstract:
Differences of opinion concerning the relationship between the Thelon tectonic zone and the Taltson magmatic zone, as to whether they are individual tectonic elements or two independent elements, have generated various plate tectonic models explaining their creation. Magnetic and gravity signatures indicate that they are separate entities and that the Thelon tectonic zone and the Great Slave Lake shear zone form a single element. Adopting the single-element concept and available age dates, a temporally evolving plate tectonic model of Slave-Rae interaction is presented. At 2350 Ma, an Archean supercontinent rifted along the eastern and southern margins of the Slave Craton. Subsequent ocean closure, apparently diachronous, began with subduction at 2070 Ma in the northern Thelon tectonic zone, followed by subduction under the Great Slave Lake shear zone at 2051 Ma. Subduction related to closure of an ocean between the Buffalo Head terrane and the Rae Craton initiated under the Taltson magmatic zone at 1986 Ma, at which time subduction continued along the Thelon tectonic zone. At 1970 Ma, collision in the northern Thelon tectonic zone is evidenced in the Kilohigok Basin. From 1957 to 1920 Ma, plutonism was active in the Taltson magmatic zone, Great Slave Lake shear zone, and southern Thelon tectonic zone. The plutonism terminated in the northern Thelon tectonic zone at 1950 Ma, but it resumed at 1910 Ma and continued until 1880 Ma. The East Arm Basin witnessed igneous activity as early as 2046 Ma, though this took place more continuously from 1928 to 1861 Ma; some igneous rocks bear subduction-related trace element signatures. These signatures, and the presence of northwest-verging nappes, may signify collision with the Great Slave Lake shear zone as a result of southeastward subduction, completing closure between the Slave and Rae cratons.

Full text
Abstract:
Petsamo on nykyään Venäjän hallinnoimaa aluetta. Vanhin niistä on Helsingin magneettisen observatorion havainnot 1844–1910.

Abstract:
The Greater Yellowstone Area (GYA) is one of the last remaining large and nearly intact temperate ecosystems on Earth (Reese 1984; NPSa undated). GYA was originally defined in the 1970s as the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, which encompassed the minimum range of the grizzly bear (Schullery 1992). The boundary was enlarged through time and now includes about 22 million acres (8.9 million ha) in northwestern Wyoming, south central Montana, and eastern Idaho. Two national parks, five national forests, three wildlife refuges, 20 counties, and state and private lands lie within the GYA boundary. GYA also includes the Wind River Indian Reservation, but the region is the historical home to several Tribal Nations. Federal lands managed by the US Forest Service, the National Park Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service amount to about 64% (15.5 million acres [6.27 million ha] or 24,200 square miles [62,700 km2]) of the land within the GYA. The federal lands and their associated wildlife, geologic wonders, and recreational opportunities are considered the GYA’s most valuable economic asset. GYA, and especially the national parks, have long been a place for important scientific discoveries, an inspiration for creativity, and an important national and international stage for fundamental discussions about the interactions of humans and nature (e.g., Keiter and Boyce 1991; Pritchard 1999; Schullery 2004; Quammen 2016). Yellowstone National Park, established in 1872 as the world’s first national park, is the heart of the GYA. Grand Teton National Park, created in 1929 and expanded to its present size in 1950, is located south of Yellowstone National Park1 and is dominated by the rugged Teton Range rising from the valley of Jackson Hole. The Gallatin-Custer, Shoshone, Bridger-Teton, Caribou-Targhee, and Beaverhead-Deerlodge national forests encircle the two national parks and include the highest mountain ranges in the region. The National Elk Refuge, Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge, and Grays Lake National Wildlife Refuge also lie within GYA.

Abstract:
This Open File Report provides the available macroseismic information for the seven largest moderate earthquakes that occurred in the Charlevoix Seismic Zone between 1870 and 2021. These earthquakes and their moment magnitude (M) are: 1) February 3, 1902, M 4.5; 2) September 30, 1924, M 5.2; 3) January 08, 1931, M 4.9; 4) October 19, 1939, M 5.3; 5) October 14, 1952, M 4.5; 6) August 19, 1979, M 4.8; 7) March 6, 2005, M 4.7. Five, possibly six, of these seven earthquakes occurred in the northeast portion of the CSZ, where the largest event of the period, the 1925 M 6.2 earthquake, also occurred. For each locality where the earthquakes were felt, macroseismic information is given and interpreted on the Modified Mercalli Intensity Scale. The original mail questionnaires filled by postmasters for earthquakes no. 3, 4, 5 and 6 are lost. Consequently, the main sources of information are the newspaper accounts except for no. 7 for which web-based questionnaires are available. The macroseismic information from localities in Canada and in the US (from NOAA) are tabulated in Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. Most newspaper clippings that have macroseismic information are included. The Open File also provides Google Earth kmz files that allow the felt information reports to be viewed in a spatial tool.
