In this research note I seek to determine whether a significantly predicting social background model for analyzing the votes of Supreme Court justices is time-bound. I argue that an affirmative result poses serious questions for past uses of such models, none of which has controlled for the possibility that time is a confounding variable. A model that significantly predicted the votes of the justices in the Court's 1903–1968 terms was constructed. AbstractAntónio de Oliveira Salazar, dictatorial premier of Portugal from 1932 to 1968, like most conservatives of his generation, had opposed Portugal's intervention in the Great War. Once in power, and especially during his time as Minister of War (1936–44), Salazar attempted to wind down the commemoration ceremonies, which centred on 9 April. His failure to do so is very revealing of the difficult relationship between Salazar and the Portuguese army, which was the main beneficiary of these ceremonies, and which saw itself as having a privileged role within Salazar's New State.

Abstract Bomolochus decapteri Yamaguti, 1936 is redescribed based on specimens recovered from the bucco-branchial cavity of three species of Carangidae (Pisces, Perciformes), the roughear scad Decapterus tabl Berry, 1968, the whitefin trevally Carangoides equula (Temminck & Schlegel, 1844), and the Japanese jack mackerel Trachurus japonicus (Temminck & Schlegel, 1844) in Japan. The male of the species is described for the first time. The possession of postantennal processes and lateral processes was verified in the genus, next to Nothobomolochus.
