Abstract:
Water-level fluctuations are among the primary factors determining the functioning of lakes. The volume to which lake basins are filled with water is of major importance to the courses of many processes and phenomena. A particular amount of water in a lake, and water-table stability, are also important from the point of view of human activity, as these elements help determine the quantity and accessibility of the water resources lakes have to offer, and therefore the possibilities for them to be used by different branches of the economy, e.g. industry, agriculture or tourism. The work detailed here is thus a presentation of trends as regards water-level fluctuations in 16 lakes in Poland, over the period 1956–2015. The study results, obtained for the first time in relation to such a long time scale and extending to around a dozen lakes, aim to point to the scale and direction of water-level fluctuations in times of the intensive transformation of the natural environment. They were obtained by reference to water-level observations made by the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management – National Research Institute (IMiGW-PIB). Specifically, data referring to the (November-October) hydrological year were analysed for trends as regards mean annual water levels using the Mann-Kendall test. Results point to major variability in the courses noted for these levels over the analysed multiannual period. Nevertheless, three overall situations could be designated from within the group of cases analysed, i.e. increase, decrease or lack of a trend. The first group includes Lakes Sławskie, Jamno, Łebsko, Nidzkie, and Studzieniczne (where increases were statistically significant at p=0.05); the second, Lakes Ostrzyckie and Ełckie (decreases significant at p=0.05); and the last group all remaining lakes, i.e. Charzykowskie, Jeziorak and Rajgrodzkie, Biskupińskie, Drwęckie and Białe, Gopło, Roś, and Wigry. It was, however, noted that in many cases analysed periods of alternating increase and decrease in water level were to be observed. The causes of such fluctuations were complex, but inter alia reflected droughts of several years’ duration, periods featuring higher-than-average precipitation, and local conditions. In general, water-level fluctuations in lakes result from natural and anthropogenic factors determining the hydrological conditions in catchments. And in the context of the lakes considered here, the courses of water-level fluctuations were mostly a reflection of local, rather than wider climatic conditions – a fact i.a. illustrated by the lack of cohesive regional designations. The situation is different from that of, for example, the thermal or ice regimes of Polish lakes, in relation to which observed similarities in properties are seen to be determined mainly by climatic factors. Information of this kind may be of key importance to the (quantitative and qualitative) management of water resources in the context of the climate change being observed currently.

Abstract:
Modeling of climatic ranges of a dangerous locust pest - the Italian locust on the territory of Russia and neighboring countries over two periods: 1956-1975 and 1996-2015 was performed. Analysis of the constructed map scheme demonstrates expansion of the climatic range of the Italian locust mainly in the northern direction in the period 1996-2015 compared with the period 1956-1975 resulting from continuing trend of increase in mean global air temperature observed in recent decades. Obtained data can be used in monitoring locust pests in agriculture.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This study aims at showing the evolution process and the transformation of doctrines of the Moroccan Islamic movements originating from Islamic youth (the chabiba islamiya). We decided to study the doctrines of three fundamental Islamic movements through the trials of their political participation. Thus, we will discuss the Reform and Uniqueness Movement (RUM) and its political wing the PJD (Party of Justice and Development), the civilizational alternative and the Movement for the Ummah (MFU). These three movements made a substantial effort which resulted in a revision of their political ideology in order to position themselves within the Moroccan political sphere, amongst other political actors. The principles of Islam are taken as a reference for these three movements, to which the Civilizational Alternative added the Human wisdom. The representation of the relationship between politics and religion has evolved. The leaders of these movements draw a theoretical distinction between the religious field and the political one; nonetheless, in practical terms, their political participation is not completely protected from an instrumental use of religion for political purposes. The caliphate institution is considered as a historical experience. Thus, the State is a civil institution in the service of the nation. Choura is a principle not contrary to democracy. The latter ensures political pluralism and respect for Human rights although there are some reservations. The application of the Charia is not the challenge anymore because its purpose is compromised by the rules of the positive law. The RUM and its political wing, the PJD, have already legalized their situation. The PJD is recognized as the official and main party of Morocco’s partisan political landscape. The limit to their political demand and the political context of the country during the Arab spring events, lead the PJD to exercise power by running the government under the guidance of the new constitution of 2011. Despite the recent recognition of the Civilizational Alternative, as an association having the same name, this association has been removed from the list of recognized political parties due to its political position, and the fact that the political parties map does not ensure the existence of this Islamic unifying current. The MPO (Mouvement for Oummah) has developed a reforming political doctrine, but its quest to get an official recognition from the regime did not succeed. The attempt at creating an autonomous political party named “Ummah Party” has been concluded by a ban from the Ministry of the Interior and supported by a judicial decision

Abstract:
Nine years after 1968, Italia is going again through one year of agitation. For a few months, the peninsula is crossed over by a social, political and cultural movement, extremely vigorous and offensive, that was named "movement of ’77". This irreverent contestation is going to change with the passing months : the demonstrations become bloody and the movement of ’77 turns to more radicalism. But it will be soon forgotten when Italia, on the 16th of March 1978, day of the kidnapping of Aldo Moro, will rush into the heart of what were called the "Years of Lead". Thus, the italian historiography rarely mentions this year of mobilisation, and only a few italian novelists were inspired by the insurrectionary movement of 1977. We will draw the literary reasons that led those novelists to take over the "movement of ’77", in order to understand the paradoxical exploration of that year which was on one side forgotten by the history of literature, and on the other side used to illustrate the values, the failures and the victory of a whole generation. How did the writers picture that movement? How did they confront its stakes, its drifts, and what it represents? What are the narrative solutions they have found to express it? How do their texts answer to the "myths", these dominating and reducing conceptions that the italian society, traumatised by this period of its history, have brought to the contestating youth? We will follow the diachrony of the literary perceptions of that event, from 1979 to 2007, through the works of Bruno Arpaia, Nanni Balestrini, Ferdinando Camon, Enrico Palandri, Paolo Pozzi and Luca Rastello

Rebreyend, Anne-Laure. Thesis, Bordeaux 3, 2017. http://www.theses.fr/2017BOR30043/document.

Full text
Abstract:
This thesis studies new forms of realism in Spanish prose in the 2000s, from a corpus of four novels. It contemplates what makes the contemporary reality aesthetic, what its epistemology is, and what links it bears to other forms of knowledge. What roles do realist narrations play in the configuration of social imaginaries, when the heritage of the democratic transition and the narration of Spanish modernisation are called into question? We first examine the conditions of historical, socio-economic and cultural possibilities of a renewal of realism, which is mapped throughout the literary field of the last twenty years. The central hypothesis is that realism springs back up from the fact that debates around historical memory in the 2000s, and since 2008, the economic, social and political crisis prompt the revision of the transition myth and the project of modernity which had been structuring Spain’s social imaginaries since the 1960s. Three parts offer different studies of realist poetics, diachronically and synchronically, to highlight the evolution of the modes of realist referentiality between the start of the 2000s and the beginning of the 2010s, the crisis of 2008 and its beginning as an inflexion point. The first part tackles two novels (Antonio Muñoz Molina, Sefarad, 2001 and Ignacio Martínez de Pisón, Enterrar a los muertos, 2005), which discuss the social fabrication of documents and historiography to reinterpret the 1936 war, the dictatorship and the transition. The second and third parts (Rafael Chirbes, Crematorio, 2007, and Isaac Rosa, La mano invisible, 2011) analyse the elaboration of a collective narrative of developmental Spain, at the dawn of the crisis, through novels which interact with the economic theory of liberalism and historic sociology. At the crossroads of literary studies, social discourse, history and the contemporary sociology of Spain, this thesis argues that the appropriation of realism in the 2000s questions a national identity that is democratic, modern, and takes part in the reappearance of a problematic reality after the meta narration of a model transition collapsed. If the novels all try to tackle the social reality according to its representations, they differ through what « reality » means to them, through the nature of its historic and material causes, and through the ways they describe it

Bogdan, Irina Alexandrovna. "A fear of dark water : das profundezas à tradução." Master's thesis, 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/10451/25655.

Abstract:
This project aims to investigate the translation of crime fiction, a genre that seems to be less explored in the academic world. It is intended to propose a translation of part of the book Fear of Dark Water, written by Craig Russell and published on March 1st, 2012, by Arrow Books. This work aims to obtain a master degree in Translation by Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Lisboa and was produced during the third, fourth, fifth and sixth semesters of 2011-2014. The translation of the mentioned work was in itself a challenge in part by the author’s style which, in spite of, apparently, being simple and colloquial, offers resistance at the level of the sentence structure in the target language, which tends to be more extensive than the structure of the source language and by recurring to bilingualism marks, that could present some difficulty for both the translation and both target and source language reader. The translation, that serves as the basis for this project, envisages the possibility of a commercial publication for a target readership fond of the thriller/romance noir and/our interested in contemporary English literature. The choice of only part of the book A Fear of Dark Water relies in the extension required for this project, translating of chapters 2, 5, 21 and 34. Regarding the report, it starts with a brief genre investigation, including its definition, as well as the definition of its subgenera. It also soughts to explore the issue of bilingualism throughout the source text, being a subject that is also familiar to me. This, on the other hand, is one of more discussed matters in Translation Studies. And in the center of everything is the report that provides the analysis of the source text, as well as the deliberation on the main problems elapsed throughout the translation. 8 The translated version, as well as the source text, is appended to the report. Finally, I would like to mention my hope that this report can demonstrate the commitment necessary for translation task, as well as for research in the area of crime fiction and the whole literary translations studies area.

Abstract:
The land use of the Belihuloya catchment area in Sri Lanka has been changing over a long period mainly due to the human activities. The study was aimed to find out the spatial and temporal changes of land use in the Belihuloya Mini Catchment area of 1956 to 2015, and obtain the local people's perception of the effects of land-use changes in Belihuloya. To study the people's perceptions of land use change, a questionnaire survey was conducted among randomly selected 180 households. Aerial data of 1956 and satellite data of 2015 were used to analyze the land use changes. The vegetation cover maps of 1956 and 2015, demonstrated the drastic changes of land use in Belihuloya. More than 50% of the respondents in the study area perceived that the land use has been changing due to the construction activities, forest fires, illegal loggings, pine and tea cultivation and the expansion of built-up areas. The deforestation has badly effected on water resources in the Belihuloya. The reforestation programs, including community-based reforestation programs can be introduced to minimize the impacts. It is necessary to implement existing legal frameworks with supports of different stakeholders to conserve the Belihuloya.

Abstract:
This chapter investigates how the introduction of stereo complicated Hollywood’s vococentric practices. It also reveals how sound technicians developed mixing techniques that preserved the salience of dialogue in multi-channel soundscapes. The author refers to such techniques as monocentrism and illustrates monocentric norms by analyzing the climactic scene from The Martian (2015). The chapter then examines how technicians often play with these norms in order to change the meaning of a given sequence. To demonstrate this phenomenon, the author analyzes the Louis and Bebe Barrons’s score to Forbidden Planet (1956) and argues that MGM’s rerecording engineers mixed the musical effects so that they panned to different locations within each theater, which thereby invited audiences to interpret these sounds as the voices of the film’s invisible monsters.

Abstract:
This chapter offers a close reading of two recent German films – Der Staat gegen Fritz Bauer/ The People vs. Fritz Bauer (2015) and Die Akte General/ The General (2016) - depicting the postwar life and work of Fritz Bauer as attorney general in the court of Hesse (1956-68), where he initiated postwar key Nazi-criminal trials. Bauer’s prosecution of Nazi criminals, his attempts to reform postwar jurisdiction and re-instill a moral consciousness were at the time perceived by many Germans as treason; the majority of West Germans saw Bauer’s work as a transgression and betrayal of their heavily guarded victim identity. As the case of Bauer shows, within the complex re-negoiation of West German postwar identity, the concept of treason formed a central point of convergence of the burdens of the past and the hopes for a democratic future. My reading focusses on the films’ framing of Bauer’s role as perceived traitor and explores the ambivalence of cinematic strategies which retrospectively celebrate Bauer’s historical efforts and at the same time still elicit an undercurrent of retribution in the name of the historically questioned German postwar community of ‘victims’.

Abstract:
In 1450, Edirne Palace, which was started to be built in the time of II. Murad, was built by his son Fatih Sultan Mehmet after the death of the sultan and named as the New Palace. The process that started with II. Murad, Fatih Sultan Mehmet,Suleiman the Magnificent, II. Selim, I. Ahmet, IV. Mehmet, II. Ahmed, III. Mustafa and It continued with the additions made during the reign of II. Suleiman. The New Palace, which was planned as a series of courtyards in accordance with the regulations, had 117 rooms, 21 divanhanes, 18 baths, 8 mosques, 17 large doors, 13 wards, 4 cellars, five printing houses and 14 pavilions. After Istanbul became the capital, as a result of the interest of the sultans, XVIII. Until the first half of the century, it was used in a well-kept condition in accordance with its purpose of construction. Edirne New Palace is a cultural heritage covering all phases of Ottoman architecture and art from Murad II to the end of the 19th century. Excavations to uncover many aspects of this heritage and to bring some of it into modern Turkish cultural life have a long history. The first excavations were initiated on 18 August 1956 by Tahsin Öz, Deputy Director of the Istanbul Archaeological Museum. Later, in 1973, the Edirne New Palace was re-excavated under the direction of Prof. Dr. Doğan Kuban with the participation of experts from the Edirne Museum. The third period of the excavations of the New Palace of Edirne was resumed in 1999 under the direction of the Edirne Museum. The excavations in this period were carried out in Matbah-ı Amire under the scientific supervision of Prof. Dr. Gönül Cantay. Excavations were carried out in Cihannüma Pavilion and Arz Room between 2004-2007. Between 2009 and 2015, Edirne New Palace Excavation continued under the presidency of Prof. Dr. Mustafa Özer with the decision of the Council of Ministers on behalf of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Trakya University. Abstract:
Ajara stands out among Georgia's other regions due to its unique physical and geographical conditions. The strong humid subtropical climate, beginning with seaside beaches and swampy lowlands and ending with Alpine meadows - a set of diverse landscapes, rich water, and forest resources, almost evenly distributed resorts and other resort-related places throughout the entire territory of the region - the wealth concentrated in a relatively small area resulting in a growing interest in the economy and natural ecosystems of Ajara. It is crucial to investigate the dynamics of climatic parameters in the Adjara region. The dynamics of air temperature and sea level changes from 1956 to 2015 were analyzed at a distance to assess the level of climate change in the Adjara region. The study was based on observation data from the National Environment Agency and weather stations operating on the Black Sea coast in the past and present. Long-term meteorological data processing was analyzed statistically, climatologically, and graphically to determine climatic changes. As a result of the research, it was discovered that the air temperature in the Ajara coastal area fluctuates dramatically against the backdrop of global climate change, with noticeable warming and cooling periods. The average annual temperature in Adjara's coastal zone (Batumi and Kobuleti) is 14.65 °C/30 years (1986-2015). Batumi's 30-year average temperature is 0.5 degrees Celsius higher than Kobuleti's. When temperatures on the Adjara coast were compared over two thirty-year periods (1956-1985 and 1986-2015), it was discovered that they increased by 0.49-0.69 °C/60 years, while sea level increased by 235 mm/60 years.

Abstract:
The analysis of pigment the Palaeolithic artists used in cave art has interested the archaeologists very soon (Moissan, 1902). Nevertheless, the necessity of the preservation of the prehistoric artworks has limited the analysis on long time, because this research implied samples which could damage the artworks. The recent development of new equipment allowing non-invasive in situ chemical analysis has conducted to quick increasing of the research in this field. The pigment the prehistoric artists used in Rouffignac cave is strongly studied for fifteen years. After methodological tests, ambitious archaeological programs give nowadays new elements about our knowledge of the wall artworks. Research history. The Rouffignac cave is known for long time because its entrance was never closed. Nevertheless, the prehistoric interest of the site was understood only the 26 june 1956 when L.-R. Nougier and R. Robert identified the first artworks (Barrire, 1982 Plassard, 1999). A strong polemic was born around the authenticity of these documents during the summer 1956 and found a conclusion in an international commission meeting. In this context, the first chemical analysis of pigment in Rouffignac cave was carried out by P. Graziosi (Firenze University, Italy). He concluded the artworks were done with manganese dioxide (Graziosi, 1956). For nearly 50 years, no new research was carried out on the pigments used by the Magdalenians. In 2004, the CEA (Commissariat lEnergie Atomique) made a transportable experimental device for the X-ray fluorescence analysis which opened up new possibilities. A brief analysis campaign was held in November 2004. It aimed to test the feasibility of this type of research in cave, to confirm the Graziosi analyses and to look for black pigments which would not produce any fluorescence spectrum and could be suspected to contain organic matter. The first two objectives were achieved but the presence of organic pigment could not be detected anywhere (De Sanoit et al., 2005). Between 2009 and 2015, a new program expended, first as part of an ANR framework (MADAPCA) and then as part of a PhD project. Several methods were again tested: X-ray fluorescence, X-ray diffraction and Raman spectrometry. Several publications document this research (Beck et al., 2012 AND 2014 Lalhil et al., 2012). However, it quickly became apparent that X-ray fluorescence was the most effective Электронная библиотека ИА РАН: https://www.archaeolog.ru/ru/el-bib 26 method combining short scan times, guaranteed (or nearly) results and reproducibility of measurements. Abstract:
Study of Mongolian literature at St. Petersburg University began in the 19th century. In 1855, as part of the reorganization of Oriental studies in Russia, Faculty of Oriental Languages was transferred from Kazan to St. Petersburg. A. M. Pozdneev (1851–1920) was the first to systematically study Mongolian literature at the department. Academician B. Ya. Vladimirtsov (1884–1931) significantly developed and deepened research in the field of Mongolian literature. An outstanding academician S. A. Kozin (1879–1956) made a huge contribution to the study of Mongolian literature. From 1937 to 1976 T. A. Burdukova (1912–1987) taught at the Department of Mongolian Philology. In 1953, after completing her postgraduate studies at the Department of Mongolian Philology, L. K. Gerasimovich (1923–2015) began her teaching career. In 1987, M. P. Petrova (born 1964) was hired as an assistant at the Department of Mongolian Philology. For more than half a century of the existence of the Faculty of Asian and African Studies within the walls of St. Petersburg University, the Department of Mongolian Philology (later — department of Mongolian Studies and Tibetology) has developed a strong tradition of studying and teaching new and latest Mongolian literature. And today we can talk about the presence at St. Petersburg State University of its own scientific school of research into the history of the development of literature of the Mongolian-speaking peoples of the world.
