Abstract:
Pathogenic changes in Puccinia graminis f. sp. tritici (P. g. tritici) in Australia during the period 1969-1985 are reviewed. As found in a previous study covering the period 1954-1968, the frequencies of individual pathotypes were influenced by the combinations of resistance genes present in the most common wheat cultivars. From 1969 to 1978, pathotype composition and diversity varied between the four regions comprising the Australian wheat-growing area. However, from 1978 to 1985, pathotype 343-1,2,3,5,6 predominated in all regions. It is suggested that this pathotype was repeatedly derived from pathotype 326-1,2,3,5,6 at widely separated locations, and that these events facilitated its widespread increase. Another significant event was the specialization of P. g. tritici on triticale. Survey data suggest that pathotype 34-2,12, which rendered cultivar Coorong susceptible, developed from pathotype 34-2, possibly during 1979. A second pathotype which attacked cultivar Satu (designated 34-2,12,13) was detected in 1984. The deployment of different resistant genes in triticale and wheat has resulted in distinct populations within P. g. tritici adapted to each crop. Future Cultivar development for triticale should be aimed at maintaining this divergence.

Abstract:
The qualitative and quantitative analyses of aerospora at Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany are assessed for the biogenic pollutants of Lucknow atmosphere. The Impaction method was employed for preparing annual pollen and spore calendars over six years (1969-1970, 1970-1971, 1971-1972, 1983-84, 1984-1985, 1985-1986). As many as 61 types of pollen grains and 27 types of fungal spores have been encountered. The maximum numbers of pollen grains were recorded in the year 1985-86 (24383) and minimum in the year 1969-70 (13005), whilst the maximum number of fungal spores encountered were in 1971-72 (22604) and minimum in the year 1969-70 (12771). It has been visualized that long term pollen/spore monitoring at a particular site provides a strong base for the prediction of aeroallergens as a warning towards the allergenic disorders. The well recognised allergenic pollen and spore of Lucknow area include Argemone mexicana, Amaranthus spinosus, Cannabis sativa, Chenopodium album, Prosopis juliflora, Cyperus rotundus, Ricinus communis, Xanthium strumarium and many species of Aspergillus.

Abstract:
Changes in the growth and reproduction of harbour porpoises from the Bay of Fundy are described by comparing samples collected in 1969–73 and 1985–88. The most pronounced change was an increase in the length of calves, from 92.1 cm (SE 1.6) in 1969–73 to 108 cm (SE 1.3) in 1985–88. Females in 1985–88 attained sexual maturity at a significantly younger age (3.44 yr) and shorter length (143 cm) than females from the older sample (3.97 yr and 147 cm). These changes may be attributable to an increase in prey availability to individual porpoises. This presumed increase in prey availability may have resulted from a decrease in porpoise density caused by incidental mortality in commercial fisheries, a simultaneous increase in prey abundance, or a combination of these factors.

Previous work on barnacle biometry has mainly been concerned with the opercular valves, whose shape is often an important taxonomic character (Barnes & Healy, 1969; Henry & McLaughlin, 1975). The well-known change in shape whereby columnar individuals are produced as a result of crowding has also been described by many workers (e.g. Trusheim, 1932; Barnes & Powell, 1950; Subklew, 1969; Crisp & Bourget, 1985). The influence of environmental variables on the shape of the barnacle shell as a whole has been little studied.

Abstract:
The term “traditional music” is widely used in musicological discourse as well as in everyday conversations, and is, indeed, in the name of our organisation: the International Council for Traditional Music.1 It was also used in the titles of classic studies of Asian music by our elders, such as Yi Hye-gu (1981), Kishibe Shigeo (1969), William Malm (1959), A. C. Scott (1967, 1969, 1975), David Morton (1976), Judith Becker (1980), Terry Miller (1985), and others, and in the titles of many journal articles. In short, the term is at the core of the discipline of ethnomusicology and for this organisation.

IN Case C-188/95 Fantask A/S and Others v. Industriministeriet (Erhvervsministeriet) [1997] E.C.R. I-6783 the European Court of Justice provided further guidance on the interpretation of Council Directive 69/335 EEC of 17 July 1969 concerning indirect taxes on the raising of capital (O.J. English Special Edition 1969 (II), p. 412), as most recently amended by Council Directive 85/303/EEC of 10 June 1985 (O.J. 1985 L 156, p. 23), and elaborated its case law concerning Member State remedies and procedural rules. More particularly, it was held that a national rule which would have allowed Danish authorities to escape the duty to refund charges levied in breach of the Directive on the ground of “excusable error” rendered Community law impossible in practice or excessively difficult to enforce (Case 199/82 Amministrazione delle Finanze dello Stato v. San Giorgio [1983] E.C.R. 3595), while a five-year time limit for bringing proceedings under Danish law was upheld as a reasonable limitation period (cf. Case C-208/90 Emmott v. Abstract:
The present study was conducted on changes in the coefficient variations of live birth weight and in the proportion of singleton live birth weight by gestational age using vital statistics compiled by the Japanese government from 1969 to 1985. The coefficient variations of live birth weight declined between 1969 and 1977-78 and then increased. The coefficient variations of live birth weight were affected by the percentage of low birth weight infants. The decline in the coefficient variations depends on the decrease of low birth weight infants, while the increase in the coefficient variations depends on the increase of low birth weight infants. Recently, the proportion of low birth weight infants has increased in Japan. Perinatal mortality rates, which indicate the level of maternal and child health, have decreased annually.

Abstract: The article recalls the history of the National Meetings of the Presbyters in the time zone of 1985 to 1998. It does not limit itself however, to this time slot, but amplifies its horizons of research, going back to 1969/70. It shows the evolution of the Brazilian clergy (in quantitative terms and from the ministerial-pastoral point of view), its notable creativity and the challenges wich the new millennium shall surely bring. One may thus better understand the options wich are presented and avoid naive and pre- cipitous decisions. Even though history may not be “magistra vitae”, it shows how certain decisions have unseen and undesired effects.

Abstract:
The interpretation of gravity data often involves initial steps to eliminate or attenuate unwanted field components in order to isolate the desired anomaly (e.g., residual‐regional separations). These initial filtering operations include, for example, the radial weights methods (Griffin, 1949; Elkins, 1951; Abdelrahman et al., 1990), the fast Fourier transform methods (Bhattacharyya, 1965; Clarke, 1969; Meskó, 1969, 1984, Botezatu, 1970), the rational approximation techniques (Agarwal and Lal, 1971) and recursion filters (Bhattacharyya, 1976), and the bicubic spline approximation techniques (Bhattacharyya, 1969; Inoue, 1986). The derived local gravity anomalies are then geologically interpreted to derive depth estimates, often without properly accounting for the uncertainties introduced by the filtering process. When filters are applied to observed data, the filters often cause serious distortions in the shape of the gravity anomalies (Hammer, 1977). Thus the filtered gravity anomalies generally yield unreliable geologic interpretations (Rao and Radhakrishnamurthy, 1965; Hammer, 1977; Abdelrahman et al., 1985, 1989.

The concept of using a stent to maintain patency of a lumen is not new. As early as 1969, stents were being investigated in the peripheral arterial system as a means of preventing restenosis after dilatation by balloon angioplasty (Dotter, 1969). Since then, numerous reports have demonstrated the use of stents in both the peripheral and coronary artery systems (Maass et al., 1982; Dotter et al., 1983; Wright et al., 1985; Palmaz et al., 1987). Concomitant with the investigation of expandable endovascular metal prosthesis has been the development of prosthetic devices for management of tracheobronchial, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary diseases. We will review the use of endoscopically placed prosthetic devices in the management of diseases affecting these systems.

Abstract:
The debate about the role of exports in the development of economic theory has emerged since the 1950s. In the macroeconomic theory, the relationships between export and economic growth and / or national income is an identity because export is a part of national income, but in development economics, heavily concern over matters wether export make prosperity (wealth) or suffering to a nation.Jung and Marshall (1985) examine four viewpoints characterize equally plausible hypothesis of relationships between export and economic growth: (1) export-led growth hypothesis, (2) internally generated export hypothesis, (3) export-reducing growth hypothesis and (4) growth-reducing export hypothesis. The empirical result using real national income and real export data over 1969-1997 suggests that error correction causality tests show bidirectional pattern, but according to the value of error correction term, adjustment coefficient reaction. Granger-causality test (1969) and final prediction error (FPE) show unidirectional causality from real national income to real export. Thus, over the period 1969-1997, Indonesia supported internally generated export hypothesis.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Literacy underwent revolutionary growth in northwestern Europe during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. This revolution coincided with other dramatic changes in European society, such as the industrial, demographic, agricultural, political, and religious revolutions (Deane 1969: 20–84). While the relationships between literacy and these other revolutions are not fully understood, their association is apparent and many potential influences exist (Cipolla 1969; Cremin 1970; Graff 1981: 232–60; 1987a, 1987b; Jensen 1986: 114–28; Maynes 1985: 117–31; Mitch 1984, 1988; Sanderson 1983; West 1978). The transplantation of European society across the Atlantic brought the literacy revolution to the American periphery. While numerous studies have shown that colonial America participated in this expansion of literacy, the common longitudinal patterns of literacy growth across the various regions and populations of colonial America have received less attention.

Abstract:
AbstractIgA nephropathy is an immune complex glomerulonephritis in which examination of the renal biopsy by immu-nofluorescence reveals IgA as the predominant antibody deposited in the glomerular mesangium (Clarkson et al., 1984). It was first described by Berger in 1969. The disease is more common in males and occurs generally during the second or third decades of life (Emancipator et al., 1985). A case of established IgA nephropathy with subsequent onset of sensorineural deafness is described.

Abstract:

Abstract:

The Antarctic toothfish (Dissostichus mawsoni Norman) has been considered an occasional large prey item of the Weddell seal (Leptonychotes weddellii Lesson) (Kooyman 1967, Calhaem & Christoffel 1969, Testa et al. 1985, Castellini et al. 1992, Davis et al. 1999, Fuiman et al. 2002). The seal's most common prey is the Antarctic silverfish (Pleuragramma antarcticum Boulenger) as well as benthic and sub-ice fish, cephalopods, and crustaceans (Dearborn 1965, Green & Burton 1987, Plotz 1987, Plotz et al. 1991, Castellini et al. 1992, Burns et al. 1998).

Abstract:
In his treatise ‘On Certainty’ (1969) L. Wittgenstein compared the propositions ex- pressing basic principles to the hinges enabling both doubting and justifying knowledge. In 1985 Robert Fogelin proposed the conception of deep disagreement in argumentation analysis and in his description of it he referred to the hinges. We continue Wittgenstein’s hinges metaphor and compare pulling and pushing the door of knowledge to adopting contrary standings about principal issues, which can result in the deep disagreements. We suggest looking at the hinges enabling those door moves as at the fixed points in the extension semantic of the argumen- tation logic. Interpreting the hinges as the fixed points allows viewing rejected arguments as isolated deadlocks of the deep disagreements, or anti-extensions, and opens a possibility for a compromise on the basis of certain extensions.
