Abstract:
Bighorn Sheep (Ovis canadensis) wintering in the lower Athabasca River valley of Jasper National Park, Alberta, were monitored from 1981 to 2010 by recording maximum band sizes per annum on two traditional but separate sheep ranges. In study area #1, the ram band declined significantly from a 20-year mean of 18 in the period 1981-2001 to a 5-year mean of 11 in the period 2001-2006, with a slight recovery in 2006-2010. Ewes in area #1 dwindled from a mean of 20 in the period 1981-1995 to zero in the period 1995-2010. In area #2, the ewe band dropped significantly from a mean of 40 in the period 1981-2001 to 24 in the period 2001-2010. The declines in area #1 coincided with an invasion of Russian Thistle (Salsola kali). Range conditions in area #2 deteriorated following four years with lower than average annual precipitation. The mean lamb:ewe ratio in area #2, pooled for 29 years, was 22:100 (n = 646). The sheep were protected from hunting, but were subject to a full range of indigenous carnivores. However, predation did not appear to be the primary cause of the declines, nor was competition for forage with American Elk (Cervus elaphus).

Abstract:
Census data for the years 1981, 1991 and 2001 were analyzed to measure documented population flows from Bangladesh to India and to describe their distribution and stay in India. The limitations of census data as a source of information on international migration are explained. As of 2001, there were 3.1 million and 3.7 million Bangladeshis in India; these are based on place of last residence and place of birth, respectively. The East and Northeast regions received 97 percent of Bangladeshis for the period 1981 to 2001. They also tend to stay for a long period of time in their areas of arrival.

Abstract:
This paper describes a novel method for re-estimating the migration and commuting data collected in the 1981 and 1991 Censuses for the geographical units used in the 2001 Census in the UK. The estimated flow data are provided as origin-destination flow matrices for wards in England and Wales and pseudo-postcode sectors in Scotland. Altogether, there were about 10,000 zones in 1981, 1991 and 2001, providing huge but sparsely populated matrices of 10,000 by 10,000 cells. Thanks to the boundary changes during inter-censal periods, virtually no work has attempted to compare local level migration and commuting flows in the two decades, 1981-91 and 1991-2001. The re-estimated spatially consistent interaction flows described here provide an opportunity for such comparisons to be made and we use migration change in England and commuting change in Birmingham to demonstrate the value of these new data.

Abstract:
Objective. To determine the prevalence of anemia and iron status among Chilean women of childbearing age between 1981 and 2010. Materials and methods. Calculation of the prevalence of anemia and iron status was based on multiple cross-sectional iron absorption studies performed in 888 women during this period of time. All studies included measurements of hemoglobin, mean corpuscular volume, zinc protoporphyrin, percentage of transferrin saturation and serum ferritin. Data were grouped by decade (1981-1990, 1991-2000, and 2001-2010). Results. Prevalence of anemia for these decades was 9, 6 and 10%, respectively (p=NS). Iron deficiency anemia was the main cause of anemia in all periods (55, 85 and 75%, respectively; p=NS). A high prevalence of women with normal iron status was observed for all periods (64, 69, and 67, respectively; p=NS). Prevalence of iron deficiency without anemia in 1981-1990, 1991-2000 and 2001-2010 was 7, 20 and 12%, respectively (p<0.05). Finally, prevalence of iron depleted stores was 20, 6 and 10%, respectively (p<0.05). Conclusions. Prevalence of iron deficiency anemia in Chilean women of childbearing age was mild between 1981 and 2010. More than 60% of childbearing age women presented normal iron status in all periods. However, prevalence of iron depleted stores was moderate during 1981-1990, and was mild during 1991-2000 and 2001-2010.

Abstract:
The evaluation of digested protein and total digestible nutrient in rations containing melinjo peels could be done using several prediction models, but testing was needed to determine the level of accuracy. This study aimed to evaluate the accuracy of the prediction formula for protein digestibility and total digestible nutrient from rations containing melinjo peels of 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%. Sixteen local ewes aged 11-12 monts with an initial body weight of 22.56 ± 1.46 kg were used to evaluate the value of digested protein and total digestible nutrient. The observational data were used to calculate the ratio of prediction to deviation value in assessing the accuracy of various prediction models for digested protein, namely Wardeh (1981) and Knight's and Harris (1966) models, while total digestible nutrient, namely Sutardi (2001), Wardeh (1981), and Harris et al. (1972) models. Wardeh (1981) and Knight and Harris’s (1966) digestible protein model, yielded ratio of prediction to deviation values of 3.28 and 3.37, respectively. Meanwhile, the ratio of prediction to deviation value on total digestible nutrient respectively from the highest value was Sutardi (2001), Wardeh (1981), and Harris et al. (1972) of 4.57, 3.68 and 1.91. In conclusion, Knight and Harris's (1966) digestible protein and Sutardi's (2001) total digestible nutrient model were the most accurate.

Abstract:
This thesis discusses the role of academic institutions in the vitality of the French-speaking community, in the metropolis of Moncton, over the past 20 years. Moncton is located in the Southeast of the province of New Brunswick in Canada. The three cities (Moncton, Dieppe and Riverview), which form this urban centre of Moncton, have a particular function in the linguistic balance of the area. The urbanization process has largely changed the social space in Moncton, which leads us to ask the following question: "Do French institutions play an important role on the geographical distribution of the French-speaking people in Moncton over the past 20 years?" By using the Census Data of the Statistic Canada of 1981 to 2001, we study the historical development of the principal French-speaking institutions compared to the significant transformation of the social space of Moncton, in particular the increased presence of the Acadians.

Abstract:
The employment rate of young partnered women and partnered mothers increased considerably over the 1980s, while there was less change in the 1990s. This thesis explores these changes, with a focus on partnered mothers with young children. The objectives are to describe what the changes in female employment were, and to analyse why they might have occurred. ¶ The analyses were primarily quantitative, although they were put into context with extensive reviews of Australian and, where relevant, international literature. The primary source of data was Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Census data. Other data used included those from the ABS Child Care Surveys, Negotiating the Life Course Survey and the National Social Science Survey. ¶ Many changes in maternal employment were identified. The most notable change was the increase in the number and proportion of partnered mothers working part- time hours. Job characteristics also changed, with these women in full-time or part- time jobs more likely to be working in higher skilled professional and para- professional jobs in 2001, compared to 1981. For partnered mothers with a child aged less than one, the proportion working increased, but there was also evidence that more women were making use of maternity leave. ¶ Coinciding with these changes were a number of compositional changes, as women of succeeding birth cohorts were more educated, and more likely to delay marriage and childbearing. Attitudinal change was also evident, as people became more accepting of working wives. Attitudes to working mothers with young children changed less, with a strong preference for mothers to be at home when their children were young. Also over this period, there were many changes in infrastructure, policy and the labour market generally that had impacts on female employment opportunities and conditions. These changes are explored in detail, and their relationship to employment change examined. ¶ Because there were so many changes in these factors occurring over this period, the exact causes of employment change were difficult to identify. Also, an analysis of employment change is complicated because the causality of certain effects does not run in only one direction – there are more complex links between education, childbearing and employment that should be accounted for in explaining changes over time. Similarly, changes in supply of labour are difficult to disentangle from changes in demand for labour. ¶ Compositional changes were certainly important in explaining the growth in the proportion working, especially for younger women. These women were not only more highly educated in 2001, they were less likely to have children. For working mothers, the effect of increased education levels could be seen in the greater numbers working in higher status occupations. ¶ The analyses of infrastructure and policy change, particularly that of changes in income support and child care provision which were covered in some detail, did suggest that certain aspects of these broader changes were associated with changes in employment, at least for some sections of the population. Income support changes may have enabled more mothers, particularly those in low-income households, to stay at home with young children. This might be part of the reason for the slower growth in female employment in the 1990s, as payments to single-income families increased. ¶ The increased availability of formal child care was likely to have enabled more mothers to work, although the use of informal care, and parental-care only also grew over the 1980s and 1990s. The cost of care continues to be prohibitive for some families. ¶ Increases in part-time work continued even when the overall rate of employment slowed down. Changes in industrial relations, through award restructuring and the introduction of enterprise bargaining, were associated with an increased availability of part-time jobs. This sustained use of part-time work was congruent with the employment preferences of working mothers with young children. Also, the evidence presented shows that part-time work has grown in higher status as well as lower status jobs. ¶ Overall, while it was not possible to identify the exact causes of employment change, the compositional (education and childbearing changes in particular), attitudinal and broader infrastructure/policy changes were no doubt related.

Churton, Wade Ronald. "Alternative music in New Zealand,1981-2001 definitions, comparisons and history." Thesis, University of Canterbury. History, 2003. http://hdl.handle.net/10092/1030.

Abstract:
Alternative music was a cultural practice, which became a significant feature of New Zealand's local and national history over the last two decades of the twentieth century. Features of technology, economics and music culture influenced the creation and course of local independent music scenes, along with factors such as cultural remoteness. This thesis isolates and collates key factors and time periods of international music industry history, and refracts the information through alternative music in general, providing a coherent definition of the term. The history and definitions of New Zealand's alternative music history are then assessed for the period 1981-2001, with especial reference to the Flying Nun label and 'Dunedin Sound'.

The present work analyses the material produced and published by the Jornal dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra (Landless Rural Workers Newspaper) during the period from 1981 to 2001, and unveils the historical and political trajectory of the MST (Movimento Sem Terra Landless Workers' Movement), as well as of its leaders hereby personified by the figure of the rural landless worker, in that their experiences are narrated not as victims, but as historic figures devoted to the fight against the social exclusion process to which they were historically submitted to, with the land reform constituting their main claim. The survey carried out reveals that the JST (Landless Workers Newspaper) has during its trajectory registered intervention initiatives by the movement, as well as the participation of other entities and solidarity institutions offering support in order to collaborate with the multiple needs of the rural landless workers: the land reform and social justice in rural areas. In this regard, the survey took on the challenge of giving visibility to the articles published by the JST, not just because it would publish movement records, but to fulfill the desire to recover and historicize its actions, practices, discourses and its representations faced with landless workers aspirations. The following narrative is based on the interpretation and analysis of an extensive bibliography contemplating themes related to the land issue, political disputes involving the rural workers articulated by the Landless Workers Movement and by non-governmental organizations that took part in the project defended by this movement. Faced with this challenge, the research took a timeframe of approximately twenty years of JST publications and gave preference to the interpretation and analysis of editorials, interviews with movement leaders and articles of opinion written by politicians, catholic intellectuals and leftist academics, as well as the analysis of news and images published by the newspaper. For such, material that was selected and published by the CPT (Comissão Pastoral da Terra Pastoral Land Commission) was used in order to understand the relationship between newspaper s discourse and the information provided by the Cadernos Conflitos no Campo (Field Conflict Notebooks) published by this entity, particularly those regarding rural violence data. The research entitled O Jornal dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra e Seus Temas (The Landless Rural Workers Newspaper and its Themes 1981-2001) contributes towards understanding the stages of operation of the landless workers newspaper, uncovering its interfaces, objectives, language, its political opposition and its reading public. It also reveals the location and circulation numbers. This is information that provides the construction of a narrative in order to assure that it is understood not only as an object of communication for rural workers, but above all, as a subject of struggle and a briefer for the land reform project and social justice in rural areas and cities defended by the MST

Abstract:
The global economic shift into the knowledge economy in the 1970s had a profound effect on settlement structure in England and Wales. The physical changes brought on by the dismantling of the rigid manufacturing sector were compounded by an important socio-economic shift. The knowledge worker became a centrepiece of the post-industrial economy. The importance of specialised knowledge within the post-industrial firm brought these highly skilled workers on par with senior management resulting in a transformative effect on their choices of employment and housing. These changes are the centrepiece of contemporary economic, social and geographic research. However studies spanning these three theoretical spheres have been limited. This has deprived us of crucial theoretical links that would allow us to disentangle the complex changes that have occurred. This research is aimed at capturing the effects of this broad socio-economic transformation on the settlement structure of home and work in England and Wales. The analysis focuses on the changes in structural and functional change through the use of commuting data for 1981 through 2001. Changes are investigated by bringing together and expanding current spatial analysis techniques. The selection and composition of these techniques is informed by the major theoretical representations of employment and housing patterns and social structure. I have sought to provide a novel way of approaching and interpreting the effects of socio-economic change by combining these three different perspectives within a multi-variate spatial analysis framework that is relayed with consistent objects and attributes. Thus I have brought together theories in housing and labour economics as well as incorporating knowledge in social stratification. This has allowed me to unravel some of the complex settlement patterns that have been observed. These representations have also demonstrated their effectiveness in linking different strands of socio-economic theory through spatial analysis, providing a bridge between these fields.

Abstract:
A significant problem facing geographical researchers who wish to compare migration and commuting flows over time is that the boundaries of the geographical areas, between which flows are recorded, often change. This chapter describes an innovative method for re-estimating the migration and commuting data collected in the 1981 and 1991 Censuses for the geographical units used in the 2001 Census. The estimated interaction data are provided as origin-destination flow matrices for wards in England and Wales and pseudo-postcode sectors in Scotland. Altogether, there were about 10,000 zones in 1981, 1991 and 2001, providing huge but sparsely populated matrices of 10,000 by 10,000 cells. Because of the changing boundaries during inter-censal periods, virtually no work has attempted to compare local level migration and commuting flows in the two decades, 1981-91 and 1991-2001. The re-estimated spatially consistent interaction flows described here allow such comparisons to be made and we use migration change in England and commuting change in Liverpool to demonstrate the value of these new data.

Abstract:
Cloud cover is one of the important climate indicators. The characteristics of the cloud cover regime can be used to determine the peculiarities of atmospheric circulation, the planetary albedo of the climate system, the effective radiation of the underlying surface and the possible distribution of precipitation, so quantifying changes in cloud cover in modern conditions is relevant. Changes in circulation indices should affect changes in both the quantitative indicators of cloud cover and the repeatability of the main cloud types. An analysis of climatic studies of cloud cover and its actual changes over the territory of Ukraine, which were carried out by Ukrainian scientists, showed that they are based only on ground-based observations. The features of the spatial distribution of individual characteristics were obtained using long-term observations of the same length at all weather stations of the Ukrainian hydrometeorological network. Ukrainian studies of cloud cover fluctuations due to climate change are based on ground observations. Moreover, the length of the rows depends on the goal of the study and the time of its completion. This paper is devoted to the analysis of total and low cloudiness for each month between different decades in relation to the climate norm (1981-2010). The input data for this study was total cloud cover and low cloud cover from ERA5 [https://cds.climate.copernicus.eu/cdsapp#!/dataset/reanalysis-era5-single-levels-monthly-means?tab=overview] for each month of the year for the period 1981-2020 years. The horizontal grid resolution was 0.25 degrees. The data of total and low cloud cover measured in points (from 0 to 10) were also used, which were obtained from the archive of Ukrainian hydrometeorological observation network, which is situated in the Borys Sreznevsky Central Geophysical Observatory. The average monthly data from 15 meteorological stations for the period from 1981 to 2020 were collected: Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odesa, Dnipro, Zaporizhzhia, Kryvyi Rih, Lviv, as well as Kropyvnytskyi, Lutsk, Mykolaiv, Sumy, Uzhhorod, Kherson, Chernivtsi, and Chernihiv. An analysis of cloud cover changes over the past four decades (1981-1990, 1991-2000, 2001-2010, 2011-2020) compared to the climate norm of 1981-2010 showed that they were oscillating over the territory of Ukraine. In some decades both a decrease and an increase of total and low cloudiness were observed in different parts of the country. However, for certain months, there are tendencies toward a decrease in cloud cover over time. These tendencies are most typical for spring and summer. Partially similar changes can be noted for the autumn-winter period. The decrease of low cloud cover prevails over the total cloud cover.

Abstract:
The conditions for the appearance of cavitation, i.e. the local vaporization of fluid under static or dynamic stresses, are closely connected with the tensile strength of the fluid (Arndt, Keller (1992)). Although the dominant effect of water quality on the cavitation interception has been known for many years (Keller (1981, 1983, 1984)), it is uncommon to measure its stress resistance. A possible reason for that could be the unique stress-resistance probe of Keller (1987, 1994) (Eickmann (1992)), which by itself represents a great engineering break-through, is rather complex and expensive. It has become clear during the ASME/JASME conference in San Francisco, 1999 (Keller, Rott, Striedinger, Awad, Ludwig, Yang, Li), and the Fourth International Symposium on Cavitation in Pasadena 2001 (Keller), that internationally standardized testing conditions are required with respect to water quality (Heller (2000)). A relatively simple method of concurrently measuring tensile strength or cavitation susceptibility in cavitation channels has been developed at the Institute of Fluid Mechanics of the Technische Universita¨t Dresden during the last months. This newly developed tensile strength measuring technique is not only efficient and cheap but can also be installed in any existing cavitation channel with comparably small effort. The presented paper represents the actual developmentstate of the Dresden measuring device. Comparison measurements at the cavitatio n-channels of the Versuchsanstalt Obernach (Dr. Keller), Schiffsbau-Versuchsanstalt Potsdam (Mr. Heinke) and the Schiffsbau-Versuchsanstalt Hamburg (Mr. Friesch) are planed for the following months.

Abstract:
The article presents the characteristics of the Flow Duration Frequency (FDC) curve statistics of the Hornád River and its tributaries for a period of 60 years (1961-2020) and compares the flow duration curves divided into decades (1961-1970, 1971-1980, 1981- 1990, 1991-2000, 2001-2010 and 2011-2020). High flows corresponding to the flow of 10% (Q10) and 25% (Q25), medium flows corresponding to the flow of 50% (Q50) and low flows corresponding to the flow of 70% (Q75) and 90% (Q90) were analyzed. The study covered 7 catchments located in the Hornád river catchment (eastern Slovakia). The greatest variability of flows in individual decades in relation to the multi-year period 1961-2020 was recorded in all threshold ranges at the station in Prešov Sekčov. The highest values were recorded in the range of low flows (Q90), for which the coefficient of variation was 0.38 (Q90) and 0.27 (Q75). A high coefficient of variation Cv was also recorded for the Košické Olšany station in terms of low flows for Q75 and Q90, which were 0.21 and 0.19, respectively. At the remaining stations, the variability of Cv ranged from 0.08 to 0.15 for Q75 and Q90. The variability of high flows (Q10 and Q25) ranged from 0.11 to 0.17 for all catchments except for the Prešov Sekčov station, for which the values were 0.21 and 0.27, and Stratená 0.19 and 0.18, respectively.

Abstract:
Described as the “single great new development in education” (Wedemeyer, 1981:60), distance education would further expand with the advent of technology and the internet in the 1990’s. It can be argued that Covid-19 in 2020 has acted as another catalyst for bringing online and blended learning to the front scene (Zhao, 2020). At the University of Mauritius, distance education and online learning were introduced at the University of Mauritius in 1991 and 2001 respectively. Since 2014, online and blended learning is under the purview of the Centre for Innovative and Lifelong learning: CILL provides infrastructural and pedagogical support for the development of online and blended learning and has the autonomy to initiate projects. This has led to the creation of a sub- culture at CILL where CILL would continue to operate on the margin/periphery of the mainstream activities of the UoM. Innovations at CILL included innovative modes of delivery, assessment and adopting an entrepreneurial/intrapreneurial culture of collegially approaching the Industry for customised training programmes and corporate training solutions. These innovations were most of the time being limited to the activities of CILL. Covid-19 has since 2020 led to a reversal of the situation. Covid-19 has highlighted how many of the innovations introduced by CILL some 25 years ago have ensured robustness and resilience of the Centre’s activities in the face of disruptions caused by the pandemic. Post-lockdown, some of the models would be deployed to the whole of the University. This paper, through exploratory desk research, will explore how these innovations paved the way for preparedness at CILL and how these were escalated to University-wide level, where ‘going against the tide’ becomes the norm.

Full text
Abstract:
The Old Solvent Tanks (OST), located at the Savannah River Site (SRS) Old Radioactive Waster Burial Ground (ORWBG), are comprised of 22 underground storage tanks that were used to store spent radioactive solvent and aqueous wastes generated from the plutonium-uranium extraction (PUREX) process. The OSTs were installed at various dates between 1955 and 1968 and used to store the spent solvents until 1974. The spent solvents stored in the OSTs were transferred out from 1976 through 1981 leaving only residual liquids and sludges that could not be pumped out. Final remediation goals for the ORWBG include an overlying infiltration control system. If the tanks were to structurally fail, they would collapse causing potential for onsite worker exposure and release of tank contents to the environment. Therefore, as an interim action, methods for stabilizing the tanks were evaluated. The preferred remedial action was “Grouting of the Tank Wastes In-situ.” The primary function of the grout is to provide structural stability of the tanks by filling void space with material that prevents tank collapse. Incidental to any mixing that may occur, residual material in the tanks will be incorporated into the grouting mixture. The incidental grouting will ultimately improve environmental protection by rendering the residual material immobile. To accomplish this task, the SRS Environmental Restoration Division (ERD) teamed with the Savannah River Technology Center (SRTC) to determine a remedial design strategy and to translate this strategy into a construction specification and drawings for implementation. The OST remedial design strategy contained the following key aspects for performance requirements and acceptance criteria: • Grout mix; • Tank atmosphere testing; • Grout delivery system and camera monitoring system; • Off-Gas HEPA filter system and environmental monitoring; • OST Sealing and labeling. From November 2001 through February 2003 all 22 Old Solvent Tanks were successfully stabilized. This paper will discuss the systems designed to perform and monitor the grouting operation, the grouting process, and the radiological controls and wastes associated with grouting the Old Solvent Tanks.

Abstract:
This report consists of climate statistics for air pressure, temperature, relative humidity, precipitation, snow depth, wind, sunshine and global radiation for the normal period covering the years 1991–2020. In addition for the first time oceanographic statistics for sea water level, sea water temperature and sea ice are included. Based on the station and gridded data the new 1991–2020 normal period is approximately 0.6 °C warmer in Finland compared to the previous 1981–2010 period. The new normal period is approximately 1.3 °C warmer when compared to the 1961–1990 period. Climate and oceanographic statistics can be used for example when anomalies for current conditions need to be calculated and put in a historical context. In addition they help in decision-making when it is needed to approximate conditions months into the future. And lastly normal periods provide a way to monitor the progression of climate change. The calculation of the normal period statistics have been carried out following the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) guidelines. Like with previous normal periods, some stricter guidelines were followed nationally, for example in the way missing observations were handled. The period 1991–2020 is both nationally and internationally the official normal period before the next one covering 2001–2030 is taken into use.

Sprague, Joshua, David Kushner, James Grunden, Jamie McClain, Benjamin Grime, and Cullen Molitor. Channel Islands National Park Kelp Forest Monitoring Program: Annual report 2014. National Park Service, August 2022. http://dx.doi.org/10.36967/2293855.

Full text
Abstract:
Channel Islands National Park (CHIS) has conducted long-term ecological monitoring of the kelp forests around San Miguel, Santa Rosa, Santa Cruz, Anacapa and Santa Barbara Islands since 1982. The original permanent transects were established at 16 sites between 1981 and 1986 with the first sampling beginning in 1982, this being the 33rd year of monitoring. An additional site, Miracle Mile, was established at San Miguel Island in 2001 by a commercial fisherman with assistance from the park. Miracle Mile was partially monitored from 2002 to 2004, and then fully monitored (using all KFM protocols) since 2005. In 2005, 16 additional permanent sites were established to collect baseline data from inside and adjacent to four marine reserves that were established in 2003. Sampling results from all 33 sites mentioned above are included in this report. Funding for the Kelp Forest Monitoring Program (KFM) in 2014 was provided by the National Park Service (NPS). The 2014 monitoring efforts utilized 49 days of vessel time to conduct 1,040 dives for a total of 1,059 hours of bottom time. Population dynamics of a select list of 71 “indicator species” (consisting of taxa or categories of algae, fish, and invertebrates) were measured at the 33 permanent sites. In addition, population dynamics were measured for all additional species of fish observed at the sites during the roving diver fish count. Survey techniques follow the CHIS Kelp Forest Monitoring Protocol Handbook (Davis et al. 1997) and an update to the sampling protocol handbook currently being developed (Kushner and Sprague, in progress). The techniques utilize SCUBA and surface-supplied-air to conduct the following monitoring protocols: 1 m2 quadrats, 5 m2 quadrats, band transects, random point contacts, fish transects, roving diver fish counts, video transects, size frequency measurements, and artificial recruitment modules. Hourly temperature data were collected using remote temperature loggers at 32 sites, the exception being Miracle Mile where there is no temperature logger installed. This annual report contains a brief description of each site including any notable observations or anomalies, a summary of methods used, and monitoring results for 2014. All the data collected during 2014 can be found in the appendices and in an Excel workbook on the NPS Integrated Resource Management Applications (IRMA) portal. In the 2013 annual report (Sprague et al. 2020) several changes were made to the appendices. Previously, annual report density and percent cover data tables only included the current year’s data. Now, density and percent cover data are presented in graphical format and include all years of available monitoring data. Roving diver fish count (RDFC), fish size frequency, natural habitat size frequency, and Artificial Recruitment Module (ARM) size frequency data are now stored on IRMA at https://irma.nps.gov/DataStore/Reference/Profile/2259651. The temperature data graphs in Appendix L include the same graphs that were used in past reports, but include additional violin plot sections that compare monthly means from the current year to past years. In addition to the changes listed above, the layout of the discussion section was reordered by species instead of by site. The status of kelp forests differed among the five park islands. This is a result of a combination of factors including but not limited to, oceanography, biogeography and associated differences in species abundance and composition, as well as sport and commercial fishing pressure. All 33 permanent sites were established in areas that had or were historically known to have had kelp forests in the past. In 2014, 15 of the 33 sites monitored were characterized as developing kelp forest, kelp forest or mature kelp forest. In addition, three sites were in a state of transition. Two sites were part kelp forest and part dominated by Strongylocentrotus purpuratus...
