We thank Dr. Szaraniec for taking a keen interest in our paper, but we are aware of the work of Santini and Zambrano (1981), Kumar and Chowdary (1982), and subsequent comments (Santini and Zambrano, 1982; Straub, 1984; Szaraniec, 1982, 1984.) The papers by Santini and Zambrano (1981) and Kumar and Chowdary (1982) are in fact referenced in our earlier paper (Niwas and Israil, 1987) dealing with resistivity‐data interpretation in the kernel domain.

As part of the GGU programme of hydropower investigations in West Greenland, glaciological and climatological measurements were continued at Qamanârssûp serrnia (inventory number 1CH21002) in 1984. The station was first established in late summer 1979 so that records for five complete summers 1980-1984 are now available. Brief reports on the work have been given by Olesen (1981), Olesen & Braithwaite (1982), Braithwaite (1983a), and Braithwaite (1984). More detailed analyses and presentations of data can be found in Braithwaite & Olesen (1982) and Braithwaite (1983b) for the years 1979

Both the 1982 and 1984 British Crime Surveys contained questions on self-reported offending. In 1984 the questions were changed in order to try and improve admission rates. This article looks at the effect of this change. Admission rates in 1984 are shown to be approximately double those in 1982. Also examined are differences between offenders and non-offenders, what offenses 1984 respondents saw other people as engaging in most often, and who saw other people as least law abiding. The relationship between self-reported offending and victimization in both this and Gottfredson’s (1984) analysis

Between 1982 and 1984 studies were conducted into captan disappearance from the fruit of field- and greenhouse-grown tomatoes (Lycopersicon esculentum L.). Captan was applied to field-grown tomatoes at 1.8 kg ha−1 a.i. in August 1982 and 1983, and to greenhouse tomatoes at 1.9 kg ha−1 in May 1983 and 1984. Initial residues in both cases were below 1.5 mg kg−1. Significant declines in residue occurred by day 2 (1983) or day 3 (1982) for field-grown tomatoes and residues were below 0.1 mg kg−1 by day 14 (1982) or day 15 (1983). The decline in field tomatoes was correlated with rainfall. With gre

Within the last decade a general model of Aboriginal subsistence and settlement has emerged for coastal southeast Queensland. Investigations have concentrated in two areas, Fraser Island (Devitt 1979, Lauer 1977, 1979) and Moreton Bay (Alfredson 1983, 1984, Crooks 1982, Draper 1978, Hall 1980, 1982a, 1984, Hall and Robins 1984, Richardson 1979, 1984, Robins 1983, Robins and Hall 1981, Stockton 1974, Walters 1980). The general ethnohistorical and archaeological scenario for these two areas suggests semi-permanent coastal settlement with a subsistence orientation to marine protein resources (Dev
