Olen tutkinut pro gradu -työssäni suomalaista kreationismia helluntaiseurakunnan piirissä vuosina 1987‒1988. Tuolloin helluntaiseurakunnan piiristä virisi kansalaisadressi, jolla pyrittiin saamaan kreationismi kouluopetukseen evoluutioteorian rinnalle. Adressia kerättiin reilu vuosi, sen allekirjoitti 14 310 henkilöä, ja se palautettiin silloiselle kouluhallitukselle 18.8.1988. Kouluhallitus otti adressin vastaan, mutta se ei johtanut jatkotoimenpiteisiin.
Päälähteinä työssä ovat helluntaiherätyksen pää-äänenkannattaja Ristin Voitto ja yleiskristillinen Kotimaa. Molemmat ovat viikkolehtiä. Lähdeaineistoa täydentää muun muassa liikkeen johtohahmoihin kuuluneen Seppo Pehkosen sähköpostihaastattelu sekä katsaus Helsingin Sanomien kirjoitteluun aiheen tiimoilta.
Työssäni tutkin adressin keruuta tapaustutkimuksellisella otteella ja pyrin selvittämään, millaisia muotoja suomalainen kreationismi tapauksen aikana sai. Tarkemmassa analyysissä hyödynnän argumentaatioanalyysin keinoja. Työssä käydään siis sama aineisto läpi kahta eri metodia käyttäen.
Työni perusteella suomalainen kreationismi on paljon velkaa yhdysvaltalaiselle kreationismille. Esitetyt argumentit noudattavat tieteellisen kreationismin kaanonia ja lähes kaikki käytetyt argumentit ovat johdettavissa yhdysvaltalaisiin alkulähteisiin. Tällaisia auktoreja ovat muun muassa Henry M. Morris ja Duane Gish.
Käydyssä keskustelussa on myös muita samantapaisia piirteitä Yhdysvaltojen kreationististen liikkeiden kanssa. Kyse näyttää olleen enemmänkin maailmankatsomuksellisista eroista kuin tieteellisestä kiistasta. Helluntailaiset puolustivat omaa fundamentalistista raamatuntulkintaansa. Evoluutioteoria näyttäytyi heille uhkana oman kulttuurin symboleja vastaan. Luterilaiset taas puolustautuivat fundamentalismia vastaan, jonka he eivät nähneet kuuluvan Suomen kristilliseen perinteeseen.
Jatkotutkimuksen kannalta syventyminen vanhempaan suomalaiseen kreationismiin, kuten Uuras Saarnivaaran tai Wiljam Aittalan ajatteluun, auttaisi ymmärtämään suomalaista kreationismia. Myös 1980-luvun alussa Suomessa käydyn kreationistisen keskustelun avaaminen antaisi tälle tutkimukselle tapaustutkimuksellisen vastinparin.

Ryegrass cultivars, experimental accessions, blends and composite mixtures were tested for overall adaptation to overseeded turfgrass management practices under desert conditions. Entries were significantly different from each other for color and overall turfgrass quality. Gennplasm for overseeding differs for tolerance to close mowing under desert conditions. In most cases, the better adapted entries had superior scores in two years of testing.

A maior parte dos textos críticos encontra-se publicada em jornais. Primeiramente, esses textos foram localizados e organizados. Depois disso, visando à avaliação da recepção crítica, foram resenhados e analisados. Ao término desta pesquisa constatou-se que a obra de José Geraldo Vieira tem sido vítima de muitos clichês e comentários que se repetem. Apesar disso, a crítica, no geral, apresenta argumentos positivos suficientes para realçar o valor de José Geraldo Vieira no panorama da literatura brasileira.
The aim of this work is compounding an organized table of critical texts about the writer José Geraldo Vieira (1897-1977), with the proposal to offer the researcher appropriate material for a more rigorous and comprising analysis of his literary production. The major part of the critical texts is found published at newspaper. At first, these texts were localized and organized. After that, viewing an evaluation of the reviewer's reception about the works by José Geraldo Vieira, they were summarized and analyzed. The analysis shows that, although sometimes the works of José Geraldo Vieira have been a victim of a random appreciations and repeated comments, they were, in general, well accepted by the reviewers. Thus, these reasons are strong enough to underline the value of his work at Brazilian Literature outline.

My work in the 1970s and 1980s was developed with the evolving body of work now loosely called 'c e theory'. It centred on notions of authorship, spectatorship and art cinema with specific reference to the films of Carl Dreyer. In my research and writing on Dreyer's film Vampyr I applied the literary concept of the fantastigue to cinema, one of the first substantial theoretical contributions to a now established area of publication and research. According to one writer' this work was "probably the most ambitious attempt to apply Todorov's approach to cinema", a "notable exception" in the theoretical writing of that time. This was part of the wider movement associated with SEFT and Screen to interrogate the uncritical realism which dominated 1970s film studies. In my subsequent writing on Dreyer I explored a structuralist but more psychoanalytically informed discussion of genre, developing the concept of the "Dreyer text" as a way of bringing psychoanalytic concepts to compliment and complicate structuralist notions of authorship and genre. I was part of a loose group at Screen which was passionate both about cinema and ideas. While polemically defending the new concepts we were bringing to bear on cinema, we were equally concerned with their institutional placing. Our work concentrated both on regimes of looking allowed to the spectator by texts and their institutional placing. We focussed on political and discursive structures of the cinematic institution and developed a concept of 'cinema as social practice'. In particular I pushed for a cultural critique of British Independent cinema and its institutions, which was continued in my work on screen acting. I was also instrumental in extending Screen theory to other visual arts. I felt that the sometime parochialism of film studies lay in part in its separation from analysis of other forms of visual culture. In my full context statement I wish to explore limitations in the political, semiotic and psychoanalytic models which I (as did many others) adopted at the time. What I now see as Screen theory's 'blind spots' in relation to issues of sexual orientation and race can be traced back to the problematic of this period. My own subsequent research on gay and lesbian cinema as well as film and television projects on screen acting (Acting Tapes) psychoanalysis (Between Two Worlds) and Frantz Fanon (Frantz Fanon: Black Skin White Mask) came out of dissatisfaction with that earlier project as it was then conceived. The form chosen - the essay and review - reflects the difficulty of thinking through these issues. [James Donald (ed), 'Fantasy and the Cinema', British Film Institute, London 1989] In essence my proposal involves looking back at my work around Dreyer and what one could broadly call my 'film culture' work, and arguing that what was sometimes felt and described as a theory: practice division between these two domains could be more usefully thought of in retrospect in terms of two overlapping modes of theoretical production involving different notions of institution, conjuncture, subject etc. In looking again at the strengths and weaknesses of the work I am submitting here, however, I still expect key terms of subject and history, discourse and institution, to remain in place, modified and nuanced by the substantial range of work in psychoanalysis, cultural studies and queer theory that Screen in part engendered and which my work participated in.

Celle-ci frappe tout à la fois la stratégie, le mode de fonctionnement, les références idéologiques et les relations internationales. Dans chacund e ces domaines se produisent des ruptures qui se traduisent, sous l'effet des crises externes (économique et sociale, internationale. . . ) par la division du communisme espagnol en plusieurs formations, elles-mêmes constituées de divers groupes, voire tendances. L'ensemble des phénomènes de cette crise montre à la fois la spécificité du communisme espagnol et l'universalité des questions qu'il soulève, tant au niveau de l'histoire de l'Espagne actuelle que de celle du mouvement communiste international et du fonctionnement des organisations et des systèmes de partisAfter having played an essential part in the struggle against Franco dictatorship and in the transition period towards parlamentary monarchy, the Spanish Communist Party comes into a long period of crisis. This crisis strikes at the same time strategy, organization, ideological refernces and international relations. Breaks happen in all these fields and convey external crisis (economical, social and international), coming to split of the Spanish communism in various parties which are themselves set up by various groups or even leanings. Research has shown that the presence of ice-nucleation-active (INA) bacteria, such as Pseudomonas syringae and Erwinia herbicola, will result in ice formation several degrees centigrade higher than would otherwise occur. Seven possible chemical frost protectants were applied to Lisbon lemons of the Yuma Mesa Ag Center. Four replications of effectiveness of the materials were evaluated by determining tip bum and fruit damage following two subfreezing episodes in December 1987. There were no statistically significant differences between treatments under the conditions of this study.

La ricerca verte sulla figura di Vittorio Ugo (1938-2005), architetto e urbanista palermitano , docente presso la Facoltà di architettura di Palermo dal 1964 al 1987. Della complessa attività di Ugo, che nella seconda fase si svolge principalmente a Milano, la tesi mette a fuoco il periodo 1957-1987, anni che comprendono la formazione universitaria e la sua poco nota attività di architetto e urbanista a Palermo.Vittorio Ugo (Palermo, 1938-2005) is an Italian architect, mostly known in Italy and France as theorist and a critic as well, Professor at University of Palermo from 1964 to 1987. Much less known is his architectural work as author of projects on different scales: architecture, urban-planning, design. The years from 1957 to 1987 represent a sort of long training period, which prepare the second phase of Ugo’s biography, devoted exclusively to the Theory of Architecture. Born from a family of artists - his grandfather was a sculptor, his father an architect - he was looking for an original way to be an architect, feeling an ethical need to see architecture from a scientific point of view. The main argument of this research, starts from the belief that the fame of Vittorio Ugo as a theorist, together with his open International impulse - France and Japan were his second homeland – conceals a complex "apprenticeship ", yet to be revealed. Many of his former pupils wondered who he was, where he came from, what had determined his passion of teaching and the care he devoted to his students. In 1978, he was living in Paris attending the heated debates that took place at the prestigious Ecole des hautes études en sciences sociales, inside the courses of Louis Marin and Hubert Damisch. «[...] Que venait chercher Victor Hugo auprès de cette école de pensée sémiologique?» What was Vittorio Ugo looking for in that school of semiological thought? Philippe Potié was asking a few years ago. How to explain the choice of Ugo to devote himself to the Theory, after twenty years of designing?

Les programmes multiculturels diffuses par channel four a l'intention des minorites ethniques de grande-bretagne apporterent une amelioration sensible pour ces minorites, d'un point de vue quantitatif mais aussi qualitatif, et firent evoluer l'image et la participation de leurs membres a la television. Ils permirent a ces communautes de revendiquer et de cultiver pour la premiere fois a l'echelle nationale une mentalite et des gouts specifiques. Mais ces programmes, s'ils remplirent egalement une fonction commune d'exposition des difficultes, rejoignirent la fonction palliative, derivative de la television grand public. Ils furent de surcroit source d'insatisfactions et de contrarietes : les critiques porterent sur les choix operes par le departement multiculturel et les producteurs et sur la politique directoriale de channel four ainsi que sur le danger d'isolement que faisait courir aux minorites ethniques le confinement au sein d'un departement special et d'une chaine marginale. Malgre ces restrictions et meme si les minorites ethniques restaient marginalisees, ces programmes presenterent un reel interet : ils eurent le merite de naitre et de durer et de renforcer l'experience multiraciale vecue par les jeunes a l'ecole et dans la rue ; en matiere de relations raciales, la television etait le seul domaine, avec l'education, qui avait tente d'apporter une solution ; la grande-bretagne faisait de surcroit figure de modele, ces programmes etant les seuls de cette qualite et de cette variete concus par des membres des minorites ethniques pour leurs congeneres dans les pays europeensChannel four television's multicultural programmes, aimed at britain's ethnic minorities, brought about a marked improvement in terms of quality as well as quantity and in terms of those communities'image and nivolvement in television. The programmes enabled those communities to claim and cultivate their specific mentality and tastes on a national scale for the first time. But although they also fulfilled a common function in exposing problems, they took on the same compensatory and entertaining function as mainstream television. Moreover they were a source of dissatisfaction and vexation : criticisms focused on the choices made by the multicultural department and the producers and on channel four's senior managers' policy, as well as on the dangers of isolation incurred from being confined to a special department and to a fringe channel. In spite of those limitations the programmes were of great significance : their great merit was that they appeared at all and lasted, and that they reinforced the multiracial reality experienced by youth at school and in the street; television was the only field, apart from education, which had attempted to put forward an answer as regards race relations; great-britain could moreover be seen as a model, as those programmes were the only ones in europe of the same range and quality to be produced by members of ethnics minorities for their own communities

The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which women seeking services of a shelter for battered women in the Southwestern United States were similar to the existing picture of battered women. Supplemental questions were asked concerning the effects of substance abuse, marital status, and child abuse. Information was gathered from records of a sample of 100 women who sought shelter between September 1984 and August 1987. Results were compared with previous studies by Gayford (1975), Giles-Sims (1983), and Walker. Results suggested women in this study were similar to battered women who had been studied previously. No significant relationship was found between the use of drugs and/or alcohol and the type of abuse a woman experienced, between marital status and employment status, nor between the occurrence of child abuse and a woman's willingness to involve the police. Implications and recommendations for future research were presented.

The Reagan administration launched a two term campaign to win support for the Contra rebels fighting Nicaragua. The rhetorical war began in secrecy and ended in scandal. With Reagan's reputation as a "great communicator" and the priority he assigned to the Contra cause it seemed surprising to find virtually nothing on the topic in a search of the communication journals through mid 1992.
The central research question of this thesis is whether President Reagan used rhetorical strategies and similar depictions to other presidents in his prowar rhetoric against Nicaragua. A common theme of war rhetoric is the dehumanizing of the enemy in order to justify retaliation and to deflect the attention of the audience away from the realities of war. Robert 'vie, using Burke's dramatistic analysis, found over a hundred and fifty years of presidential rhetoric a predictable pattern of justifications for war. He found motives for war arranged in a hierarchy with "rights" as the primary god-term for purpose. Before a textual evaluation this study reviewed the history of the region the role of the rhetor and of the media.
'The data included a computer scan covering all of Reagan's statements on Nicaragua (59,000 words), a brief overview of 45 speeches and a detailed examination of three nationally televised speeches. The television speeches were analyzed in light of the following:
a) Rhetorical exigencies surrounding the appeal were researched.
b) Key players in the drama and their effect on the rhetoric were reviewed.
c) Main arguments and counter-evidence were related to the speeches.
d) A metaphoric analysis was conducted with particular emphasis on mega-images.
e) Identification strategies in Burkeian terms were applied to the speeches.
f) The speeches were subjected to a pentadic analysis to determine ratios and their relationship to motive.
g) The effects were reviewed in terms of the press, Congress and polls.

Partant d'un questionnement constitutionnel sur la nature de l'Etat espagnol et sur les problèmes qu'elle a posés au modèle centraliste, on envisage, dans le cadre de la réorganisation politico-territoriale prévue par la Constitution de 1978: la demande d'autonomie régionale des Asturies. Les conditions et les mécanismes de l'élaboration du nouveau statut et son résultat, les états de l'opinion asturienne à ce sujet sur la base de trois enquêtes sociologiques (1977-83-85) et des tendances électorales jusqu'à la fin de la première législature autonomique (1987). La deuxième partie s'attache à saisir et à commenter des éléments révélations de la différence régionale. Outre les grands traits d'un profit territorial et communautaire singulier, on tente d'apprécier à la lumière d'antécédents historiques et littéraires, les rapports contradictoires de la région avec l'ensemble espagnol. L'analyse des données actuelles d'une identité régionale déclarée cherche à en dégager la constance et ou les ambiguïtés à partir d’un rapport au territoire, au particularisme linguistique et culturel etc. Les pistes finales s'ouvrent en direction: du renouveau éditorial régional; de la mémoire historique immédiate sur la base d'un modeste corpus de témoignages oraux. We will study the political reorganization of the territory contemplated in the 1978 constitution : the Asturian regional autonomy petition, the conditions and mechanisms of the new statute's elaboration and its results, the opinion movement in this respect, from thres sociological surveys (1977-83-85), and the electoral tendencies until the end of the first autonomous legislative term (1987). The second part points-out and comments some revealing factors of regional differences. Also the. Main lines of a peculiar territorial and communitary profile to try to evaluate through the historical and litterary back-ground the complex policies betwwen the region and the Spanish nation. The analysis of the actual facts of of the declared regional identity tries to reveal the steadfastness or the ambiguities to do with territorial, linguistic and cultural particularities, etc. . . Rhe last part sketches two complementary directions: the local editorial phenomens and the immediate historical memory based on the reduced collection ou oral testimonies. L'image que les manuels de francais, d'histoire et de geographie donnent, avant 1945, du canadien francais et de l'indigene des colonies (le noir, l'annamite, le berbere, etc. ) est riche mais ambigue. Son portrait psychologique est stereotype, mais ses activites decrites avec soin; en eclairant son ame, les contes en donnent une image flatteuse, mais son histoire est occultee au profit de celle du colonisateur. Aujourd'hui l'ancien colonise parle de lui-meme grace aux litteratures francophones, qui entrent dans les manuels en 1955, pour le premier cycle et le primaire; en 1970, pour le second. D'abord sporadique, leur presence s'affirme alors meme qu'eclate le canon des classiques nationaux, et surtout en poesie. Les themes retenus sont les travaux et les jours sous d'autres climats et surtout la question de l'identite culturelle, a travers les humiliations du passe et la revolte, les incertitudes du present et les espoirs en un avenir fraternel; aussi atteignent-ils l'universel. Les anciens stereotypes racistes y sont combattus d'autant plus vigoureusement que le systeme des valeurs occidentales a ete ebranleThe picture that, before 1945, french language, history and geography textbooks provided of the french canadian and of the native of the colonies (black, annamit, berber, e. A. ) is a rich but also an ambiguous one. Psychological portraits of people are stereotyped but their activities are carefully described. By enlightening their soul, tales afford a pleasant image of them, but their history remains occulted on behalf of that of the colonizer. Today the past colonized people speak by themeslves thanks to the french speaking litterature which has been introduced in textbooks since 1955 for an elementary school and the first degree of highschool, and since 1970 for the second degree. Being sporadic at the beginning, their presence becomes more and more important in the same time as the preeminence of national classics declines. This is specially true for poetry. Main themes are daily life under exotic climates, and most of all the question of the cultural identity affected by the past humiliations and the consecutive revolt, the uncertainty of the present and the hope in a brotherly future. In this way they become universal. The old racial stereotypes are fightened as more vigourously as the occidental system of values is being disrupted

Entre la naissance du ministère de la Santé en 1947 et l’année 1987, l’Irlande est-elle parvenue à prendre le train de la santé et du bien-être pour son peuple ? Certes, on consacrait année après année des sommes d’argent de plus en plus importantes au budget de la Santé et les résultats furent incontestables si l’on se focalise sur les différents indicateurs de Santé. Ainsi l’Irlande est-elle rapidement venue à bout de la tuberculose, par exemple...La notion même de système de santé a changé au cours de la période. Elle s’attachait jadis au fait de soigner les malades, et a progressivement mis l’accent sur la prévention, considérant le patient comme une personne à part entière avec toute une série de facettes sociales.Pour autant, la Santé pour le peuple implique également l’accès au système et l’égalité de traitement pour tous, ce qui n’a pas toujours été le cas – le grief classique fait au système de Santé irlandais étant que c’est un système à deux vitesses, puisque les détenteurs d’une carte médicale (de gratuité des soins) sont en fait victimes de discrimination : le système permet à ceux qui ne jouissent pas d’un accès gratuit de bénéficier en fait d’un service de meilleure qualité, ainsi que de listes d’attente moins longues.Afin d’analyser la manière dont fonctionnait le système de santé en 1987, quarante ans après sa naissance, cette thèse tente de décoder l’empreinte qu’a laissé l’Histoire sur ses infrastructures (les hôpitaux, par exemple) ainsi que sur ses structures administratives.L’étape suivante consiste à étudier l’évolution du système, qui fut lente et entravée par diverses forces luttant contre le changement (comme la Hiérarchie catholique ou les docteurs).Notre étude souligne enfin l’impact de l’entrée de l’Irlande dans la Communauté Economique Européenne (CEE) et son attitude dans le grand débat des années quatre-vingts autour de la crise de l’Etat-Providence qui résultait de l’éthique économique conservatrice qui occupait le devant de la scène à l’époqueBetween the birth of the Ministry of Health in 1947 and 1987, has Ireland managed to jump on the bandwagon of health and welfare for its people? Ireland quickly managed to get rid of tuberculosis, for instance...The very notion of healthcare changed a lot during the period. It used to focus on curing the sick, and gradually gave more and more importance to prevention, regarding the patient as a full-fledged person with a whole series of social facets.Still, healthcare for the people also implies eligibility and equality of treatment for all, which has not always been the case – the classic reproach against the Irish healthcare system being that it is a two-tier system, the holders of a medical card being in fact discriminated against by a system which allows those who do not benefit from free access to it to actually enjoy a better service together with shorter waiting lists.In order to analyse the way the Irish system functioned in 1987, forty years after its birth, this PhD attempts at deciphering the imprint History had left on its infrastructures (hospitals, for instance) and on its administrative structures.The next step consists in studying the evolution of the system, which was slow and hindered by various forces fighting against change (like the catholic Hierarchy or the doctors).Finally, our study highlights the impact of Ireland’s EEC membership and the country’s stance in the great debate of the eighties over the notion of welfare crisis, stemming from the economic conservative ethos that prevailed at the time

La crise des euromissiles trouve son origine en octobre 1977, lorsque le chancelier allemand Helmut Schmidt exprime son inquiétude face à l’aggravation du déséquilibre militaire en Europe, consécutive au déploiement des missiles soviétiques de moyenne portée SS-20. Plus précis que les systèmes qu’ils remplacent et dotés de têtes nucléaires multiples, les SS-20 pourraient neutraliser la mise en œuvre de l’escalade nucléaire de l’OTAN. Qui plus est, les armes de moyenne portée de l’organisation militaire intégrée versent dans un état d’obsolescence. La question qui se pose est de ce fait celle de savoir quelles sont les garanties sécuritaires que les Américains offrent à l’Europe, alors que la parité stratégique, bientôt consacrée par le traité SALT II, rend improbable l’engagement de la dissuasion centrale américaine en faveur du Vieux Continent. La montée de la menace soviétique et la méfiance européenne vis-à-vis de la protection militaire américaine sont alors les deux éléments au centre du débat atlantique qui caractérise la décennie 1977-1987 et qui se conclut par le traité de Washington, sanctionnant l’élimination de toutes les armes nucléaires soviétiques et américaines de moyenne portée d’Europe.Cette situation risque d’affecter la France pour deux raisons. Tout d’abord, l’aggravation du déséquilibre militaire engendré par les SS-20 confèrerait à Moscou un droit de véto sur toute évolution politique future du continent, que cela ait trait à la construction européenne ou à la résolution de la question allemande. Deux dossiers sur lesquels Paris n’accepte pas d’être marginalisé. Ensuite, la manifestation d’une méfiance européenne vis-à-vis de l’engagement américain en Europe semble amener certains alliés, la RFA au premier chef, à chercher un équilibre militaire propre au continent européen. Or, loin de garantir plus de sécurité, un équilibre « eurostratégique » n’aurait pour conséquence que d’éloigner la dissuasion américaine d’Europe ; en outre, il finirait par imposer des limitations aux forces nucléaires des puissances nucléaires tierces comme la France. Dès lors, la crise des euromissiles concerne la France dans la mesure où sa politique d’indépendance et sa politique de défense risquent d’être mises à mal par les évolutions du débat atlantique à propos de la sécurité de l’Europe, qui constitue l’environnement stratégique dans lequel Paris inscrit sa propre sécuritéThe origins of the Euromissile crisis date back to October 1977, when Helmut Schmidt publicly expressed his anxieties about the nuclear imbalance in Europe, following the deployment of the Soviet SS-20 missiles. The new Soviet system was more accurate than its predecessors and equipped with three nuclear warheads. NATO’s aging nuclear medium-range missiles could not match the Soviet technology and NATO’s nuclear escalation strategy proved weakened. At a time when SALT II fixed a rough strategic nuclear parity between the Soviet Union and the United States, Europe wondered whether the American extended deterrence was still reliable. The increasing Soviet threat and the deepening European defiance vis-à-vis the American military protection were the two central elements of the Euromissile crisis, which lasted until 1987, when the Washington treaty sanctioned the elimination of all Soviet and American medium-range nuclear forces in Europe.The French concern about the Euromissile crisis was twofold. Firstly, Moscow might profit from its military superiority in Europe in order to extend its influence over the Western part of the continent. As a consequence, the Soviet Union might acquire a veto over any European political development, for example as regards the European integration process or the resolution of the German question, issues on which France was eager to play a major role. Secondly, the European distrust towards the American military protection could lead to the establishment of a “eurostrategic” balance, or a balance between the Soviet and the American nuclear weapons in Europe. This would definitely have weakened the value of the American extended nuclear deterrence in Europe, but also in due course included third country nuclear forces into the military European balance as a part of the Western military effort. In this case, France would be deprived of a major element of her defense policy. As a consequence, France got involved in the Euromissiles crisis to preserve her strategic environment from any Soviet European ambition and to defend her policy of national independence from any attempt to diminish her military force at a time of increased East-West confrontation
