Abstract Antimicrobial and antifungal polymers are gaining the attention of pharmaceutical makers and industrial design. Nanospheres-Polymers attached Platinum(II) / (IV) complexes have been synthesized to investigate antimicrobial activities. Firstly, nanospheres involving Schiff bases were synthesized from (aminomethyl) polystyrene and four substitute salicylaldehyde (2-hydroxy benzaldehyde, 5-fluoro-2-hydroxy benzaldehyde, 5-kloro-2-hydroxy benzaldehyde, 5-bromo-2-hydroxy benzaldehyde). Secondly, polymers attached Platinum(II) / (IV) complexes have been prepared by means of template method.

The products are investigated by fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (H-NMR), carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (13C-NMR), and mass spectroscopy. Antibacterial activities of synthesized compounds are scanned versus Staphylococcus aureus (gram-positive) and Escherichia coli (gram negative) strains. Azo dye has been synthesized having Donor-p-Acceptor (D-p-A) system to study the effect of solvent on the azo-hydrazone tautomerism. The relative stabilities of azo and hydrazone tautomer are examined by means of UV-Vis spectroscopic technique and are correlated with the solvent properties in neat organic solvents and in different binary solvent mixture. Due to the presence of intramolecular H-bonding, azo form predominates in most of the nonpolar and polar protic solvents. Presence of low energy CT band in basic solvents like DMF is due to the predominance of anionic hydrazone form stabilized

For the synthetic material to be affordable, a highly convergent synthesis is required. Jean-François Betzer and Janick Ardisson of the Université de Cergy- Pontoise have described (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2007, 46, 1917) such a synthesis, coupling 1 and 2. A central feature of their approach was the repeated application of the inherently chiral secondary organometallic reagent 5. The first use of 5 was the addition to the aldehyde 4. The product 6 was ozonized, and
