Abstract:
A series of novel Fe(II) and Co(II) complexes containing dithiophosphinate groups and neutral ligands with sulfur and oxygen donor functions was prepared in non-aqueous solutions. The reaction systems FeSO4/Na{S2P(p-C6H4Me)2} and CoCl2/Na{S2P(p-C6H4Me)2} in different organic solvents afford the mononuclear complexes [Fe{S2P(p-C6H4Me)2}2(MeOH)2], [Fe{S2P(p-C6H4Me)2}2(THF),], [Fe{S2P(p-C6H4Me)2}2(THT)2],[Fe{S,P(p-C6H4Me)2}2(DMF)2], [Co {S2P(p-C6H4Me),},(DMF)2] which were isolated as crystalline [Fe{S2P(p-C6H4Me)2}2(MeOH)2]·2MeOH (1), [Fe{S,P(p-C6H4Me)2}2(THF)2] (2), [Fe{S2P(p-C6H4Me)2}2(THT)2]-THT (3), [Fe{S2P(p-C6H4Me)2}2(DMF)2] · 2 DMF (4), and [Co{S2P(p-C6H4Me)2},(DMF)2] · 2DMF (5), respectively. Crystals of 1 are monoclinic, space group P21/c. Z – 2, a⁻ 11.013(3), b = 14.402(3), c = 11 600(3) Å. β = 106.25(2). The structure of 1 was refined to R(Rη) = 0.030 (0.040). Compound 2 is triclinic, space group P 1, Ζ = 1 with a = 6.921(2), b = 9.353(3), c = 14.436(4) Å, α = 83.56(3), β = 85.39(3) and γ = 80.46(2). Its structure was refined to R(Rw) = 0.029 (0.035). 3 crystallizes in the triclinic space group P l̄ with a = 9.204(3), b = 11.378(3), c = 11.389(4) Å α = 97.41(3), β = 114.00(2), γ = 100.69(2) and Ζ = 1. The refinement converged to R(Rw) = 0.057 (0.073). Crystals of 4 and 5 are monoclinic, space group P21/n (Z = 2): Fe(II), a = 12.395(3), b = 11.077(2), c = 16.377(4) Å, β = 95.51(2); Co(II),α= 12.299(3), b = 11.055(2), c = 16.452(4) Å, β = 95.90(2). The refinements converged to R(Rw) = 0.045 (0.046) and 0.027 (0.033), respectively. The neutral complexes 1-5 contain six-coordinated metal centers with either MS4O2 or MS6 chromophores. They represent the first examples of structurally defined mononuclear Fe(II) and Co(II) complexes containing 1,1-dithiolate groups as well as additional neutral ligands with sulfur or oxygen donor functions.

Abstract:
In this dissertation, a method for producing multinets from a net in P^3 is presented. Multinets play an important role in the study of resonance varieties of the complement of a complex hyperplane arrangement and very few examples are known. Implementing this method, numerous new and interesting examples of multinets are identified. These examples provide additional evidence supporting the conjecture of Pereira and Yuzvinsky that all multinets are degenerations of nets. Also, a complete description is given of proper weak multinets, a generalization of multinets.

Abstract:
The Periodicity theorem of Hopkins and Smith tells us that any finite spectrum supports a $v_n$-map for some $n$. We are interested in finding finite $2$-local spectra that both support a $v_2$-map with a low power of $v_2$ and have few cells. Following the process outlined in Palmieri-Sadofsky, we study a related class of self-maps, known as $u_2$-maps, between stably finite spectra. We construct examples of spectra that might be expected to support $u_2^1$-maps, and then we use Margolis homology and homological algebra computations to show that they do not support $u_2^1$-maps. We also show that one example does not support a $u_2^2$-map. The nonexistence of $u_2$-maps on these spectra eliminates certain examples from consideration by this technique.

Abstract:
La presente Memoria se orientó al estudio y caracterización electro-analítica de una serie de derivados N-(4-R-benzoil)-2-(2-nitrofenil)-1-H-benzimidazoles como sustratos de interés biológico. Los compuestos estudiados fueron sintetizados a partir de 2-(o-nitrofenil)-benzimidazol, generado por condensación entre 1,2-diamino-benceno y 2-nitrobenzaldehído. Posterior reacción del benzimidazol con una serie de cloruros de aroílo, generó la serie de cuatro N-(4-R-benzoil)-2-(2-nitrofenil)-1-H-benzimidazoles en buen rendimiento (R = NO2, Cl, F), con la excepción del producto denominado PMNB (R = OCH3), que obtuvo un rendimiento promedio de un 5%. Los estudios analíticos posteriormente a la síntesis, fueron desarrollados para los compuestos denominados PNB (R= NO2) y PFNB (R= F) y correspondieron al desarrollo y la puesta punto de metodologías analíticas reproducibles y selectivas, y su posterior aplicación en la caracterización de éstos. Dichos estudios se llevaron a cabo usando las técnicas de polarografía de pulso diferencial (PPD), polarografía tast (PTAST), espectrofotometría UV-Vis y cromatografía líquida de alta eficiencia (HPLC). En una primera etapa se llevó a cabo el estudio de influencia del pH por PPD y PTAST, el que por razones de estabilidad fue realizado en un rango de pH entre 2,0 hasta 8,2 para ambos compuestos. En este rango de pH, PFNB y PNB exhibieron dos y tres señales de reducción respectivamente: una señal principal (dos en el caso de PNB) debida a la reducción del grupo nitro y una secundaria, probablemente correspondiente al enlace azometino presente en el anillo benzimidazólico. Ambas señales son dependientes de pH, desplazándose hacia potenciales más negativos mientras más alcalino es el pH. En una segunda etapa se desarrollaron tres metodologías analíticas para la cuantificación de los compuestos en estudio (PPD, HPLC y espectrofotometría UV-Vis), las cuales exhibieron valores adecuados de reproducibilidad (CV< 4,5%) y repetibilidad (CV< 4%), presentando linealidad en un amplio rango de concentración (4,0×10-6 M a 1,0×10-4 M) para ambos compuestos. Por espectrofometría UV-Vis se determinaron las constantes de acidez para cada compuesto, debidas al nitrógeno ubicado en la posición 3 del anillo imidazólico, en ambos casos. Los valores de pKa determinados fueron de 4,79 ± 0,06 para PNB y 4,86 ± 0,06 para PFNB. Utilizando la técnica de HPLC se determinaron los coeficientes de partición respectivos, presentando valores de log P de 2,77 para PNB y de 3,18 para PFNB. Además, por medio de la técnica de PPD se llevó a cabo un estudio preliminar de estabilidad para PNB a pH 3,0 y a temperatura ambiente, observándose que el decaimiento se ajusta a una cinética de seudo orden cero (k= 1,9571×10-7 M/min), con una vida media de alrededor de 4 horas para una concentración inicial de 1×10-4 M.

In this study, it was performed synthesis and characterization of the complexes of general formula cis-[RuCl2(PPh3)2(N)2], cis-[RuCl2(PPh3)2(N-N)], trans- [RuCl2(dppb)(N)2], cis-[RuCl2(dppb)(N-N)] and cis-[RuCl2(P-P)(N-N)] [PPh3 = triphenylphosphine, dppb = 1,4-bis(diphenylphosphino)butane, (P-P) = bis(diphenylphosphino)methane, 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane and 1,3- bis(diphenylphosphino)propane, N = pyridine (py), 4-picoline (4-pic), 4-tertbutilpyridine (4t-Bupy ), 4-vinylpyridine (4-vpy) and 4-phenylpyridine (4-Phpy), N-N = 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy), 1,10-phenanthroline (phen), 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine (4- Mebipy), di-2-piridilcetona (dpk) and 4,4'-dimethoxy-2,2'-bipyridine (MeO-bipy)]. The characterizations were performed using elemental analysis, conductivity, Infrared spectrometry (IR), NMR 31P {1H}, cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry as well as X-ray diffraction, when suitable crystals were obtained. Kinetic studies of substitution of one chloride ligand from the coordination sphere of the complex by a monodentate L ligand (pyridine (py) or 4-picoline (4-pic)) were performed for the complex series of cis-[RuCl2(P-P)(N-N)] in terms of pseudo-first order conditions. The catalytic studies of some of the complex obtained in this work in hydrogenation reactions of cyclohexene were carried out. For the catalytic reactions were used a stainless steel reactor purging with H2 pressure, temperature and agitation were controlled and the analysis of results were performed in a gas chromatograph with detector flame ionization detector (GC-FID) with a capillary column DB5. The catalytic reactions performed with the complex series of [RuCl2(PPh3)2(N)2] showed a high conversion of reactant (cyclohexene - CXE) to product (cyclohexane - CXA) and a high value of TOF (turnover frequency) above 1000 h-1, during 24 hours of reaction. For complex series of [RuCl2(dppb)(N)2] the values of conversion (%) and TOF (h-1) were not as high, but still significant. For the other tested complexes, the values were low and the conversions were not significant.
Neste trabalho, realizaram-se as sínteses e caracterizações dos complexos de fórmula geral cis-[RuCl2(PPh3)2(N)2], cis- [RuCl2(PPh3)2(N-N)], trans-[RuCl2(dppb)(N)2], cis-[RuCl2(dppb)(N-N)], cis-[RuCl2(PP)( N-N)] [PPh3 = trifenilfosfina, dppb = 1,4-bis(difenilfosfina)butano, (P-P) = bis(difenilfosfina)metano, 1,2-bis(difenilfosfina)etano e 1,3-bis(difenilfosfina)propano; N = piridina (py), 4-picolina (4-pic), 4-terc-butilpiridina (4t-Bupy), 4-vinilpiridina (4-Vpy) e 4-fenilpiridina (4-Phpy); N-N = 2,2 -bipiridina (bipy), 1,10-fenantrolina (fen), 4,4 - dimetil-2,2 -bipiridina (4-Mebipy), di-2-piridilcetona (dpk) e 4,4 -dimetoxi-2,2 -bipiridina (MeO-bipy)]. As caracterizações foram realizadas por meio de análise elementar, condutividade, espectroscopia de absorção na região do infravermelho (IV), RMN de 31P{1H}, voltametria cíclica e voltametria de pulso diferencial e difração de raios X, quando se obteve cristais. Os estudos cinéticos de substituição de um ligante cloreto da esfera de coordenação do complexo por um ligante L monodentado (piridina (py) ou 4-picolina (4-pic)) foram realizados para os complexos da série cis-[RuCl2(P-P)(NN)] em condições de pseudo primeira ordem. Os estudos catalíticos de alguns dos complexos obtidos durante este trabalho em reações de hidrogenação do cicloexeno foram realizados. Para as reações catalíticas foi utilizado um reator de aço inox com pressão de H2, temperatura e agitação controladas e as análises dos resultados foram realizadas em um cromatógrafo a gás com detector de ionização por chama (GC-FID) com coluna capilar DB5. As reações catalíticas realizadas com os complexos da série [RuCl2(PPh3)2(N)2] apresentaram uma alta conversão de reagente (cicloexeno - CXE) em produto (cicloexano - CXA) e um alto valor de TOF (turnover frequency) acima de 1000 h-1, em 24 horas de reação. Para os complexos da série [RuCl2(dppb)(N)2] os valores de conversão (%) e TOF (h-1) não foram tão altos, mas ainda são significativos. Para os demais complexos testados, os valores encontrados foram baixos e as conversões não foram significativas.
