The molecular structures and vibration frequencies of unidentate and bidentate coordinations of carbonate ions to calcium ions in the zeolite CaA have been investigated, using the Hartree-Fock method implementing 6-31 G and 6-311 G basis sets. Abstract C-Ring and Pin electrodes from Corrosion Probe retrieved from Tank 241-AN-107 were examined visually and by weight loss measurements. The weight loss measurements were carried out according to ASTM(1) Method G-1 90. Corrosion rates estimated from the weight loss measurements indicated extremely limited corrosion with no visually observable pitting or cracking. Abstract Metal dusting has been observed in industrial high temperature process components such as waste heat boilers in reformers and gas pre-heaters in direct reduction plants. This corrosion phenomenon is a disintegration of metallic materials into carbon (graphite) and metal dust. The degradation takes place in strongly carburizing atmospheres with carbon activities greater 1 (ac≫1) and at intermediate temperatures between 400 °C - 900 °C.
