PurposeThe paper takes stock of accumulated knowledge on factors impacting the success of online crowdfunding (CF) campaigns while suggesting opportunities for future research development.Design/methodology/approachA Systematic Literature Review of 88 academic papers published between 2010 and 2017. Papers were collected from four academic databases and published in 65 different journals. The review addresses issues related to theory, methods, context, findings and gaps. Overall, the paper presents an analysis of 1,718 associations between 111 aggregated independent variables (from 927 variables) with six main aggregated success indicators.FindingsMost research involves quantitative analyses of public data collected from reward-CF platforms. More research is required in equity, lending, donation and other CF contexts. Existing studies are mostly anchored in theories of signaling, social capital and elaboration likelihood. There is a need for wider conceptualization of success beyond financial indicators. And based on aggregated summaries of effects, the paper suggests a series of CF success models, while outlining an agenda for future research.Research limitations/implicationsStudied phenomenon is in its early days of existence, and hence biased by the circumstances of a new industry. Moreover, the current review only covers published journal articles in English.Practical implicationsFindings of factors impacting campaign success can inform fundraisers in building campaigns, as well as platforms in adjusting systems and services toward responsibly enhancing campaign success. Moreover, identified gaps can inform on what has not been sufficiently documented and may be a source of competitive advantage.Originality/valueA comprehensive review of research on CF success factors at factor level, a coherent agenda for future research development and a series of evidence-based models on most prevalent factors impacting CF success by CF model.

In 2010, an earthquake in Haiti's capital city, Port-au-Prince, shook deeply both physical and governmental structures, placing most of its nationals at the poverty line. The difficulty of coming across employment and the proximity to Brazilians who were in Haiti through the UN Peacekeeping Troops (MINUSTAH) provided them with a vision of a prosperous, welcoming Brazil with employment opportunities. The arrival of Haitians to Brazil was widely publicized and reported by the media, narrating fragments of the identity from the Haitian immigrant, constructing and transforming concepts with regards to Haiti and the Haitians in the conscience of the Brazilian inhabitants. Such project aims to bring narratives with regards to Haitians, through electronic journals and interviews with Foz do Iguaçu organs which act directly onto Haitian immigration. In the introduction, the theoretical-methodological aspects of the research are presented. In its first chapter, a mapping regarding the news published in periodicals categorized by themes which emerged according to the study is carried out. In its second chapter, narratives are shown through interviews with Sister Terezinha Mezzalira from Casa do Migrante and Anderson Vargas de Lima from NUMIG - Federal Police, dealing with the process of entry and insertion of the Haitian in the region of Foz do Iguaçu-PR. In its third chapter, a discussion regarding the image of the Haitian which is passed through the narratives and what interferences such displacement brings to the Haitian is thus brought.<br>Desde 1500 o Brasil é formado por diversas ondas migratórias. Em 2010, um terremoto na capital do Haiti, Porto Príncipe, abalou profundamente as estruturas físicas e governamentais, fazendo com que a maioria de seus nacionais estivesse na linha da pobreza. A dificuldade de encontrar emprego e a proximidade com os brasileiros que estavam no Haiti através das Tropas de Paz da ONU (MINUSTAH) trouxeram uma visão de um Brasil próspero, acolhedor e com oportunidades de emprego. A vinda dos haitianos para o Brasil foi amplamente divulgada e noticiada pela mídia, narrando fragmentos da identidade do haitiano imigrante, construindo e transformando conceitos a respeito do Haiti e dos haitianos na consciência do brasileiro. Este trabalho tem como objetivo trazer narrativas a respeito dos haitianos através de periódicos eletrônicos e entrevistas com órgãos de Foz do Iguaçu que atuam diretamente sobre a imigração haitiana. Na introdução, são apresentados os aspectos teórico-metodológicos da pesquisa. No primeiro capítulo, é realizado um mapeamento das notícias publicadas em periódicos categorizadas por temas que surgiram conforme o estudo. No segundo capítulo, narrativas são mostradas através de entrevistas com a Irmã Terezinha Mezzalira da Casa do Migrante e de Anderson Vargas de Lima da NUMIG – Polícia Federal, tratando a respeito do processo de entrada e inserção do haitiano na região de Foz do Iguaçu-PR. No terceiro capítulo, discussões sobre a imagem do haitiano passada pelas narrativas e quais as interferências que este deslocamento traz ao haitiano são trazidas.

El fracàs de la reforma de l’ Estatut de 2006, avalat per la sentència 31/2010 dictada pel Tribunal Constitucional, va encetar un nou procés polític a Catalunya. Aquesta nova etapa s’ ha conegut, per la premsa i per la societat, com el procés sobiranista català. Aquest concentra cinc anys de gran intensitat política, social i judicial que acaba, al menys en el que pot considerar-se el seu nucli dur, l’ any 2017. Al 2017 succeeixen tres grans esdeveniments que, des del punt de vista polític i jurídic, tenen una transcendència història cabdal: referèndum unilateral d’ autodeterminació de l’ 1 d’ octubre de 2017, declaració unilateral d’ independència el 27 d’ octubre de 2017 i, aquell mateix dia, aplicació per primera vegada en la història constitucional espanyola, de la clàusula prevista en l’ article 155 CE. Aquesta tesi concentra, des d’ una vessant teòrica i pràctica, tots els esdeveniments -polítics, jurídics i judicials- que han protagonitzat la vida política catalana i espanyola durant el procés sobiranista català.<br>El fracaso de la reforma del Estatuto de 2006, avalado por la sentencia 31/2010 dictada por el Tribunal Constitucional, fue el punto de partida de un nuevo proceso político en Cataluña. En el 2017 suceden tres grandes acontecimientos que, desde el punto de vista político y jurídico, tienen una transcendencia histórica fundamental: referéndum unilateral de autodeterminación del 1 de octubre de 2017, declaración unilateral de independencia de 27 de octubre i, en esa misma fecha, aplicación por primera vez en la historia constitucional española, de la cláusula prevista en el artículo 155 CE. Esta tesis concentra, desde un punto de vista teórico y práctico, todos los acontecimientos -políticos, jurídicos y judiciales- que han protagonizado la vida política catalana y española durante el proceso independentista catalán.<br>The failure of the 2006 Statute reform, endorsed by ruling 31/2010 issued by the Constitutional Court, was the starting point of a new political process in Catalonia. This new stage has become known, by the press and by society, as the Catalan sovereign process. This concentrates five years of great political, social and judicial intensity that ends, at least in what can be considered its hard core, in 2017. In 2017 there are three major events that, from a political and legal point of view, have a fundamental historical significance: unilateral referendum of self-determination of October 1, 2017, unilateral declaration of independence of October 27 and, on that same date, application for the first time in Spanish constitutional history, of the clause provided for in Article 155 CE. This thesis concentrates, from a theoretical and practical point of view, all the events - political, legal and judicial - that have starred in Catalan and Spanish political life during the Catalan independence process.

A determinação desse marco temporal dá-se em função do período em que os fluxos migratórios retornaram ao debate político durante a vigência do Estatuto do Estrangeiro, normativa reconhecida por seu caráter securitário. O objetivo é analisar o processo de controle migratório e os critérios utilizados pelos agentes para determinar a inadmissão e o encaminhamento para o Conector. Assim, a pesquisa encontra-se dividida em três seções. Na primeira, faz-se um histórico acerca dos fluxos imigratórios e sobre as principais políticas adotadas no gerenciamento dos fluxos, com ênfase no papel do Estatuto do Estrangeiro. Na segunda seção, faz-se um apanhado teórico-conceitual sobre a inserção do fenômeno migratório na agenda de segurança e quais as implicações dessa abordagem, a partir da análise das práticas de securitização e de crimigração. The determination of this time is due to the period in which migratory flows returned to the political debate during the term of the Foreigner Statute, which is recognized for its security character. The objective is to analyze the process of migratory control and the criteria used by the agents to determine the inadmissibility and the referral to the Connector. Thus, the research is divided into three sections. The first one analyzes the immigration flows history and the main policies adopted in their management, with emphasis on the role of the Foreigner Statute. The second section brings a theoretical-conceptual perspective based on the insertion of the migratory phenomenon in the security agenda and the implications of this approach, based on the analysis of securitization practices and crimmigration. The last session will discuss the current practice of migratory control in the country's largest airport, located in Guarulhos, and the agents involved in it, in order to understand the link between the issue of security and migration in the country. El objetivo es analizar el proceso de control migratorio y los criterios utilizados por los agentes para determinar la inadmisión y el encaminamiento al Conector. Así, la investigación se divide en tres secciones. En la primera, se hace un historial sobre los flujos migratorios y sobre las principales políticas adoptadas en la gestión de los flujos, con énfasis en el papel del Estatuto del Extranjero. Before 2010, <i>Neisseria meningitidis</i> serogroup A (<i> N. meningitidis</i> A) was the predominant pathogen causing deathly epidemics. MenAfriVac<sup>&reg;</sup> vaccine protects against <i>N. meningitidis </i> A. It was introduced in 2010 into highest meningitis risk health districts. There was limited data on the effects of MenAfriVac<sup>&reg; </sup>, mainly on the degree of relationship between <i>N. meningitidis </i> A and the MenAfriVac<sup>&reg;</sup> immunization. The social ecological model was used as a theoretical framework for this study. The purpose of this quantitative study was to assess the effectiveness of MenAfriVac<sup> &reg;</sup> from 2010 to 2017 in 21 out of 26 countries of the African meningitis belt. The four research questions contributed to establishing the effects of MenAfriVac<sup>&reg;</sup>. An interrupted time series design and nonprobability sampling were used. Secondary data were retrieved from World Health Organization database. The binomial negative regression and Pearson&rsquo;s Chi-Square tests were used. The study found that after the MenAfriVac<sup>&reg;</sup> introduction there were 39% decline of incidence rate of the meningitis suspected cases (IRR 0.61, 95% CI 0.48 &ndash; 0.79, p &lt; .001), a high degree of relationship between <i>N. meningitidis</i> A and MenAfriVac<sup> &reg;</sup> immunization (&khgr;<sup>2</sup> (1) = 11039.49, p = 0.000, Phi = 0.657, P=0.000), 99% decline of the risk of <i>N. meningitidis </i> A (RR 0.01, 95% CI 0.08-0.013), and 99.6% decline of risk of epidemic due to <i>N. meningitidis</i> A (RR 0.004, 95% CI 0.001-0.016). Abstract:
Denna studie undersöker bakomliggande motiv till aktieåterköp på den svenska marknaden och hur marknaden reagerar vid annonseringen av utnyttjande av aktieåterköp. Utifrån 154 annonseringar mellan åren 2010-2017 identifieras tre bakomliggande motiv till aktieåterköp: Förse incitamentsprogram, förändring av kapitalstruktur/distribution av överskottslikviditet och tillhandahålla aktier för förvärv av företag eller annan egendom. Studien finner att 45% av annonseringarna hade incitamentsprogram som minst ett motiv, en ökning jämfört med perioden 2000- 2009 där siffran var 33%. Även den abnorma avkastningen vid annonseringen av utnyttjande av aktieåterköp undersöks genom en eventstudie. Resultaten visar en abnorm avkastning vid annonseringstillfället på 1,341%, utan hänsyn till bakomliggande motiv. Med hänsyn till bakomliggande motiv vid annonseringen uppmätts en abnorm avkastning på 1,5% för kapitalstruktur/distribution av överskottslikviditet, 1,332% för förvärv av företag eller annan egendom och 0,915% för incitamentsprogram.

O objetivo mais amplo do estudo é analisar, a partir das ações do FNDC (Fórum Nacional pela Democratização da Comunicação), como se deu o debate em relação à democratização da comunicação no período posterior à 1a Conferência Nacional de Comunicação (Confecom), realizada em 2009. A conferência é tomada como um marco nas discussões sobre a comunicação e refletia os anseios de segmentos sociais para debater com o governo e o setor empresarial a construção de um novo Marco Regulatório para a área. De forma mais específica, o trabalho também se propõe a identificar as pautas desenvolvidas pelo FNDC e movimentos sociais congregados e seus desdobramentos após a Confecom. O recorte temporal da pesquisa abrange o período 2010-2017, considerando também o contexto e os antecedentes da conferência. Para o desenvolvimento da investigação, recorreu-se à análise de documentos, com o levantamento da legislação da comunicação, consulta a relatórios, clipping e estatuto do Fórum, bem como as resoluções aprovadas nas reuniões plenárias do FNDC no período delimitado. Outro recurso metodológico adotado foi a realização de entrevistas com representantes de organizações afiliadas ao FNDC que participaram da XX Plenária em 2017; com deputados federais ligados às causas da democratização da comunicação no Congresso Nacional e com pesquisadores do campo de políticas de comunicação... The main objective of this study is to analyze, based on the actions of FNDC (National Forum for the Democratization of Communication), how the debate about the democratization of communication took place in the period after the 1st National Communication Conference (Confecom) held in 2009. This conference is taken as a landmark in the discussions about communication and reflected the willingness of society to discuss with government and media owners the construction of a new Regulation Mark for the area. More specifically, this paper proposes to identify the guidelines developed by FNDC and social movements and their developments after the conference. The timeframe used in the analysis is the period of 2010-2017, also considering the context and background of Confecom. The investigation was based in document analysis. The documents analyzed comprehend aspects of communication legislation, reports, clippings and FNDC documents - statute and the resolutions adopted in the plenary meetings of the fórum during the period delimited. It exists for individual stocks (Jegadeesh and Titman, 1993), for industry sectors (Moskowitz and Grinblatt, 1999), for style portfolios (Lewellen, 2002), in international equity markets (Rouwenhorst, 1998; Chui et al., 2010), and across asset classes (Bhojraj and Swaminathan, 2006; Menkhoff et al., 2012; Asness et al., 2013). Momentum also appears to be persistent over time, at least outside the U.S. stock market (Jegadeesh and Titman, 2001; McLean and Pontif, 2016; Green et al., 2017; Jacobs and Müller, 2020).

ZusammenfassungWintertourismus in Österreich war im 20. Jahrhundert meist weniger bedeutend als der Sommertourismus. Eine Angleichung der Nächtigungszahlen vollzog sich erst im Laufe der 1980er- und 1990er-Jahre. Der Anteil der Winternächtigungen an den Gesamtnächtigungen lag im Jahr 2018 bei 48 % und hat sich seit dem Jahr 2000 nur geringfügig verändert. Jedoch sind die Tagesausgaben der Gäste im Winter höher (185 €) als im Sommer (160 €; Österreich Werbung 2018e, 2019). Wichtig wäre in diesem Zusammenhang eine Betrachtung der Unterschiede in der Wertschöpfung des Winter- bzw. Sommertourismus. Daten und Publikationen hierzu sind allerdings nicht bekannt. In den westlichen Bundesländern Vorarlberg, Tirol und Salzburg werden seit Mitte bis Ende der 1980er-Jahre im Winter (November–April) mehr Übernachtungen generiert als im Sommer (Mai–Oktober). Österreichweit sind die Winternächtigungen in den 1980ern um durchschnittlich 2,5 % pro Jahr gestiegen, in den 1990ern um 0,7 %, in den 2000ern um 1,7 % und im Zeitraum 2010–2018 um 1,3 % pro Jahr (Statistik Austria 2019). Der Wintersport spielt hierbei eine bedeutende Rolle: Rund 66 % der Winternächtigungen entfallen auf Wintersportgemeinden (mit drei oder mehr Seilbahn‑/ Schleppliftanlagen; Fleischhacker 2018). Die Nächtigungsentwicklung in Wintersportgemeinden war jedoch im Zeitraum 1997/1998–2017/2018 weniger dynamisch (durchschnittlich +1,28 % pro Jahr) als in den übrigen Gemeinden (+2,95 % pro Jahr). Innerhalb der Wintersportregionen zeigen sich auch Verschiebungen der Marktanteile mit Verlusten im Süden zugunsten von Regionen im Westen Österreichs (Firgo und Fritz 2017).

This research paper provides a regional review of the state of electricity access in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), focusing on installed capacity, electricity generation, the growth of renewable energy, electricity consumption, government investment, public financial flows, and several major initiatives. The study contrasts electrification between 1990 and 2010 with recent efforts and identifies countries that are consistently making progress and those that lag. The analyses show signs of progress on scaling up SSA power infrastructure and increasing electricity access, particularly in the Eastern and Western sub-regions. The installed generation capacity expanded at an average rate of 2.43 GW/year between 2005 and 2015. Renewable energy is growing, particularly solar, wind, and geothermal; about 9.7 GW of renewable energy capacity was installed between 2010 and 2016. Over this period, the net electricity generation in SSA increased at 9.1 TWh/year, more than double the historical average growth of 4.02 TWh/year (1990–2010). In general, the study found that rates of electrification across the entire region are more than twice the historical rates, and an average of at least 26 million people are now gaining access to electricity yearly. Nevertheless, progress is uneven across SSA. As of 2016, almost half of the population without electricity access live in Nigeria, DR Congo, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Uganda. Quantitative analysis suggests that about 70 million people in SSA would have to gain access every year from 2017 to achieve universal access by 2030. Overall, SSA countries with national programs on energy access supported by policy/regulatory framework and infrastructure investment are making progress.
