Trends in epidemiology and antifungal susceptibility of Candida species in Brazil between 2019–2020 are reported. A total of 22 isolates diagnosed from candidemia episodes were analyzed. Candida species were identified by specie specific primer and/or sequencing of 28S rDNA. Antifungal susceptibility was determined by CLSI method. C. tropicalis accounted for 11 (50%) cases followed by C. albicans (n=5, 22.73%), C. parapsilosis (n=4, 18.19%), Issatchenkia orientalis (n= 1, 4.54%), and Saccharomyces cerevisiae (n= 1, 4.54%). Abstract This study was undertaken to determine if it was possible to reproduce the seizing or galling of locking head screws to the fracture fixation plate in a first generation locking plate system, namely the Less Invasive Stabilization System (LISS) that has been reported in the literature involving Ti alloy plate-screw orthopedic constructs in clinical practice. To better understand the parameters that lead to seizing by galling or other phenomena in these constructs, the phenomena must first be reproduced in vitro. Physical and electrochemical measurements were made in the laboratory on

ABSTRACT NiMo and NiMo with embedded CeO2 nanoparticles (100 nm) were tested as antimicrobial coatings (~15 μm thickness) on Ti (titanium) surfaces using an electrochemical process for heat exchanger applications onboard marine vessels. Preliminary static biofouling and biocorrosion (also known as microbiologically influenced corrosion) assessments were carried out in glass bottles using pure-strain Desulfovibrio vulgaris, a sulfate reducing bacterium (SRB), in deoxygenated ATCC 1249 medium at 37°C, and using an alga (Chlorella vulgaris) mixed with general heterotrophic bacteria (GHB) in enric

Abstract:
The Extended Country Program Evaluation (XCPE) for Costa Rica will analyze two successive Bank strategies and the IDB Group program with the country, covering the 2015-2022 period. This will be the sixth OVE evaluation of the IDB Group's program with Costa Rica. Previous country program evaluations (CPEs) covered the periods 1990-2001 (document RE-277), 2002-2006 (document RE-325), 2006-2010 (document RE-377), 2011-2014 (document RE-472-1), and 2015-2018 (document RE-535-4). In this sixth evaluation, the first extended one, OVE will cover the 2015-2022 period (corresponding to the country stra

Abstract:
Pinnacles National Park (?Pinnacles?) provides diverse habitats for numerous cliff-nesting raptors, including prairie falcons (Falco mexicanus) and peregrine falcons (F. peregrinus), as well as a spectacular array of summits and cliff-wall routes for rock-climbers. This monitoring program was established to determine long-term trends in the number of occupied territories and productivity of nesting prairie and peregrine falcons. The monitoring program grew out of a need to reduce potential disturbance that climbers and off-trail hikers may have on cliff-nesting raptors. The falcon monitoring p
