In this thesis, four studies using different geophysical electromagnetic methods are presented. In the first study dealing with airborne measurements, the noise response due to the rotation of the aircraft and the aircraft itself as a metallic conductive body on the Earth's electromagnetic response in very low frequency and low frequency band was investigated. The magnetic fields are independent of the aircraft in the VLF band and part of the LF band. But at higher frequencies (above 100 kHz), the signals are more influenced by the aircraft.

Abstract:
The early warning based on real-time prediction of rain-induced instability of natural residual slopes helps to minimise human casualties due to such slope failures. Slope instability prediction is complicated, as it is influenced by many factors, including soil properties, soil behaviour, slope geometry, and the location and size of deep cracks in the slope. These deep cracks can facilitate rainwater infiltration into the deep soil layers and reduce the unsaturated shear strength of residual soil. Subsequently, it can form a slip surface, triggering a landslide even in partially saturated soi

Written work here was undertaken in order to investigate geothermal reservoirs associated with major faults, located in Caldes de Montbui, Spain, and Sardara, Sardinia. This thesis has two independent parts. The first is a theoretical profile of geophysical methods applied in this work. The second focuses on the development of a methodology for cross-validation between the electromagnetic model (EM), densities models, and models of resistivity. The development and application of this methodology were in two hydrothermal environments. To improve the knowledge of the structural context of therma

Abstract:
Understanding the complex feedback mechanisms regulating the land-atmosphere system has become a scientific imperative, as human induced changes may impact the stability of the Biosphere, both locally and globally. The present thesis work aims at improving current understanding and forecasting capabilities of the Soil-Plant-Atmosphere (SPA) continuum. To this purpose a numerical model of soil moisture dynamics is coupled with plant transpiration and photosynthesis. Soil moisture dynamics is modeled by the 3-D Richards equation and plant uptake is described by an Ohm's law type model accounting
