Abstract:
In biological terms, the kynurenine pathway is considered as a one of the major degradation pathway of tryptophan (L-Trp) in which the first and rate-limiting step in this pathway is the oxidation of L-Trp to N-formylkynurenin (NFK). In spite of the fact that many mechanism have been proposed to explain how the transformation occurs, the mechanism of this oxygen-dependent reaction has not yet been determined. Nonetheless, this type of unique reaction is catalysed by two heme-containing dioxygenase enzymes:- tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase (TDO), and indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO), and due to the

However, the mechanism(s) underlying these selective effects of IDO is not elucidated. Previous studies have shown that kynurenine (Kyn) and kynurenic acid (KyA) are increased in the blood of post-stroke patients, which point to the possible activation of their synthesizing enzyme indoleamine 2, 3-dioxygenase (IDO). IDO catalyzes the biosynthesis of Kyn from L-tryptophan to modulate peripheral immune responses. IDO is inducible upon proinflammatory insults such as bacterial endotoxin lipopolysaccharide (LPS), a

These compounds influence the growth, reproduction and sexual development of humans and other animals, therefore are a cause of health and ecology related concerns. Some studies of the biodegradation of long-chain alkylphenols have been reported. The mechanism of few Sphingomonas strains was reported using the ipso-hydroxylation mechanism by the analysis of degradation metabolites
