AbstractAlumoåkermanite, (Ca,Na)2(Al,Mg,Fe2+)(Si2O7), is a new mineral member of the melilite group from the active carbonatite-nephelinite-phonolite volcano Oldoinyo Lengai, Tanzania. The mineral occurs as tabular phenocrysts and microphenocrysts in melilite-nephelinitic ashes and lapilli-tuffs. Alumoåkermanite is light brown in colour; it is transparent, with a vitreous lustre and the streak is white. Cleavages or partings are not observed. The mineral is brittle with an uneven fracture. The measured density is 2.96(2) g/cm3. The Mohs hardness is ~4.5–6. Alumoåkermanite is uniaxial (–) with

(1) Background: The fear of falling (FOF) is a geriatric syndrome that causes a decrease in daily activities and personal autonomy. Its prevalence is highly variable as are the methodologies used to assess it. This study aimed at estimating the prevalence and describing the main determinants of FOF in older adults attending a geriatric day hospital. (2) Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional study of individuals aged ≥70 years, who attended an ambulatory functional rehabilitation group in the metropolitan area of Barcelona. Background: Indonesian seawater has been found to contain a high level of lead acetate and tends to become toxic. The previous study suggested lead acetate exposure could be harmful to many organs including the brain, liver, heart, as well as the reproductive system. This study aimed to analyze the effect of lead acetate on both the uterine level of malondialdehyde (MDA) level and endometrial thickness in female Wistar rats (Rattus norvegicus). Methods: Twenty-four rats were divided into 4 groups: 1 control group, and 3 treatment groups that were given lead acetate at 30, 100, and 300 ppm p.o./

AbstractBackgroundAmyloid buildup and glucose dysregulation are two processes attributed to Alzheimer’s Disease progression [1]. Each of these has extensive research regarding their involvement in retinal processing [2, 3]. Amyloid buildup has been measured in retinal and optic nerve locations, linked with circadian and cognitive circuitry. Cognitive changes are shown by thinning in retinal tissue that corresponds with hippocampal volume, and circadian rhythm is disrupted when specific retinal cells involved with sleep are the target of some plaques [4, 5]. AbstractIntroductionRepolarization dispersion in the right ventricular outflow tract (RVOT) contributes to the type‐1 electrocardiographic (ECG) phenotype of Brugada syndrome (BrS), while data on the significance and feasibility of mapping repolarization dispersion in BrS patients are scarce. Moreover, the role of endocardial repolarization dispersion in BrS is poorly investigated. We aimed to assess endocardial repolarization patterns through an automated calculation of activation recovery interval (ARI) estimated on unipolar electrograms (UEGs) in spontaneous type‐1 BrS patients and controls

Introduction: Interleukin(IL)-1 blockade with anakinra dampens the inflammatory response and prevents heart failure (HF) events in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The efficacy of anakinra according to the baseline renal function in STEMI has not been addressed. Hypothesis: The efficacy of anakinra is independent of the baseline renal function. Aim: To determine the effect of anakinra according to the baseline renal function in patients with STEMI. Methods: We pooled patients with STEMI from 3 double-blind randomized clinical trials.
