Abstract:
Microaneurysms (MAs) with hyperreflective rings are sometimes detected in eyes with refractory macular edema (ME) associated with branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) for more than 12 months after onset when examined using optical coherence tomography (OCT). We proposed that these MAs could result in refractory ME secondary to BRVO and hypothesized that OCT-guided direct photocoagulation of MAs could result in a reduction in refractory ME. Eleven eyes (from eleven different patients) with refractory ME associated with BRVO for more than 12 months following initial treatment were included. The

This study was conducted to determine the quality of anesthesia by evaluating the clinical effects of midazolam-propofol and metamizole-propofol on domestic pigeons. The aim of the study was to choose an appropriate injectable anesthetic protocol by utilizing midazolam and metamizole as pre-anesthetic drugs in order to reduce the dose of propofol and decrease side effects. Eighteen male pigeons weighing 304.2±32.3g (mean±SD) were randomly allocated to three groups of six pigeons each. Midazolam (6 mg/kg/IM) and metamizole (500 mg/kg/IM) were used five minutes prior to administration of propofo

Abstract:
Background: Low energy availability (LEA) is a major problem as athletes often restrict their energy intake. It has been shown that LEA occurs often in female and endurance athletes and in athletes from weight-sensitive or aesthetic sports. The purpose of this study was to investigate energy availability (EA) in elite wheelchair athletes. Methods: Fourteen elite wheelchair athletes (8 males; 6 females) participated. Data were collected using a weighed seven-day food and training diary to estimate energy intake and exercise energy expenditure. Resting energy expenditure and body composition wer

This study aimed to assess the reproductive performance and body temperature of beef heifers supplemented with rumen-protected methionine (RPM) in an extensive grazing system and mated during the summer. One hundred 5/8 Angus 3/8 Brahman heifers were homogeneously divided into the control group (n=48, CG) supplemented with mineral salt ad libitum and methionine group (n=52, MG) who received the same supplementation plus 4 g of methionine per 100 g of mineral salt. The groups were fixed-time artificial inseminated (FTAI) 45 days after starting the supplementation. On day 0 of the FTAI protocol,

In the course of screening for novel naturally occurring fungicides from mushrooms in Yunnan province, China, the ethanol extract of the fruiting bodies of Albatrellus dispansus was found to show antifungal activity against plant pathogenic fungi. The active compound was isolated from the fruiting bodies of A. dispansus by bioassay-guided fractionation of the extract and identified as grifolin by IR, 1H and 13C NMR and mass spectral analysis. Its antifungal activities were evaluated in vitro against 9 plant pathogenic fungi and in vivo against the plant disease of Erysiphe graminis. In vitro,

Abstract The α-globin Constant Spring (CS) mutation (α142 STOP → Gln; TAA → CAA) is the most prevalent non-deletional thalassemia in south East Asia and southern China. DNA diagnosis of Hb H Constant Spring (Hb H CS; 2 α-gene deletions and 1 CS mutation) is often required because it can be missed by electrophoresis. The clinical phenotype of Hb H CS is more severe than classical Hb H disease. We sought to characterize the unique hematological and clinical features of Hb H CS patients, especially compared to those with Hb H disease, who were identified through the Thalassemia Clinical Research

In this study, some heavy metal contents, including cadmium (Cd), copper (Cu), chrome (Cr) and lead (Pb) of 50 raw bulk milk samples obtained from 5 different dairy plants in the Sivas and its vicinity were investigated. The contamination level of Cd, Cu and Cr were found 8.896, 33.69 and 31.81 µg/kg respectively in milk samples. Lead contents of 92% of the milk samples were below the detection limit, but 8% of the samples contained 304.1 - 503.4 µg/kg lead.

Abstract:
Water pollution has always been a serious problem across the world; therefore, facile pollutant degradation via light irradiation has been an attractive issue in the field of environmental protection. In this study, a type of Zn-based metal–organic framework (ZIF−8)-wrapped BiVO4 nanorod (BiVO4@ZIF−8) with high efficiency for photocatalytic wastewater treatment was synthesized through a two-step hydrothermal method. The heterojunction structure of BiVO4@ZIF−8 was confirmed by morphology characterization. Due to the introduction of mesoporous ZIF−8, the specific surface area reached up to 304.5

The purpose of this study is to study the maximization of business profits through the determination of the optimal use of production factors in the trawl ring business in Latuhalat. Observations and direct interviews based on questionnaires were carried out on 3 fishermen who owned trawl ring businesses in 3 hamlets in Latuhalat. Data were analyzed using business profit analysis methods and linear programming analysis. The results showed that: 1). The optimal use of production factors for trawling by the respondents in Latuhalat is 41 - 45 trips in June using 15.2 - 21.1 liters of gasoline, 2
