Abstract:
Experimental study on the effect of Reynolds number variation on drag force for various cut angles on D-type cylinders was performed. Five different cut angles on different cylinders were applied including: 35o, 45o, 53o, 60o, and 65o. The free stream velocity was varied so the Reynolds number also varied. The experiment was carried out at a subsonic wind tunnel. Drag force for a cut D-type cylinder (for example 35o) was measured using a force balance and wind speed was varied so that corresponding Reynolds number of 2.4×104÷5.3×104 were achieved. Wind turning angle was kept at 0o (without turning angle). This experiment repeated for other D-type cylinders.Experiment results show that, for all D-type cylinders, drag force decreased as the Reynolds number increased, then it was increased after attain minimum drag force. For all D-type cylinders and all variations of Reynolds number the drag minimum is attained at cut angle of 53o. This value is appropriate with previous experiment results.

The potential of hydro energy is very large both for large scale and for small scale. Until now, the need for energy continues to increase, so that energy is a very important element in the development of a country or a region. Cross-flow turbines are one type of turbine that is often used for PLTMH. In this study planning a cross-flow water turbine applied to the height and amount of water per second in the irrigation channel water flow, this water flow will rotate the turbine shaft to produce mechanical energy. With variations in the direction of the turbine flow direction, namely 30o, 35o, and 40o, and the same variation of water discharge 10,5 L / s, 21 L / s and 31,5 L / s to determine the effect on the rotation and the power produced. In this study with 12 turbine blades, 30o blade angle, 40o flow direction angle, and 31.5 L / s water discharge obtained the highest first stage turbine rotation value is 478 rpm. Whereas at the flow direction angle of 30o with the same water discharge which is 31.5 L / s so that the first stage of the turbine is obtained is 296 rpm.

Two methods of automatically determining boundary alignments from EBSD maps are discussed and shown to produce comparable results. Measurements of Al-0.1Mg and IF steel, deformed at room temperature, confirm that the alignment of low angle boundaries is primarily a function of the deformation mode, rather than the crystallography. During the high temperature deformation of aluminium, the lagbs maintain a large angle of inclination to the rolling direction (>35o) even at large strains, which is consistent with the boundaries being of transient character during deformation.

Abstract:
ABSTRACTThe structures ofStreptococcus pneumoniaecapsular polysaccharides (CPSs) are essential for defining the antigenic as well as genetic relationships between CPS serotypes. The four serotypes that comprise CPS serogroup 35 (i.e., types 35F, 35A, 35B, and 35C) are known to cross-react with genetically related type 20, 29, 34, 42, or 47F. While the structures of CPS serotype 35A (CPS35A) and CPS35B are known, those of CPS35F and CPS35C are not. In the present study, the serotypes of CPS35F and CPS35C were characterized by high-resolution heteronuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and glycosyl composition analyses to reveal the following repeat unit structures:where OAc indicates O-acetylated. Importantly, CPS35F, the immunizing serotype for the production of group 35 serum, more closely resembles CPS34 and CPS47F than other members of serogroup 35. Moreover, CPS35C is distinct from either CPS35F or CPS35B but closely related to CPS35A and identical to de-O-acetylated CPS42. The findings provide a comprehensive view of the structural and genetic relations that exist between the members of CPS serogroup 35 and other cross-reactive serotypes.IMPORTANCECross-reactions of diagnostic rabbit antisera withStreptococcus pneumoniaecapsular polysaccharide serotypes are generally limited to members of the same serogroup. Exceptions do, however, occur, most notably among a group of nonvaccine serotypes that includes the members of serogroup 35 (i.e., types 35F, 35A, 35B, and 35C) and other genetically related types. The presently determined structures ofS. pneumoniaeserotypes 35F and 35C complete the structural characterization of serogroup 35 and thereby provide the first comprehensive description of how different members of this serogroup are related to each other and to types 29, 34, 42, and 47F. The structural and genetic features of these serotypes suggest the existence of three distinct capsular polysaccharide subgroups that presumably emerged by immune selection in the human host.

We have measured the heat capacity of the fast ion conductor PbSnF4 at 10.3 < T < 352 K by adiabatic calorimetry. Our results show anomalous values in the Cp,m in the region 300 < T < 352 K. These are associated with the α–β crystallographic transition reported at 353 K. Because the upper temperature limit of our cryostat is around 354 K, it was impossible to follow the phase transition to completion. A more subtle anomaly in the Cp,m was detected between 130 and 160 K. Standard molar thermodynamic functions are presented at selected temperatures from 5 to 350 K.

Abstract:
This paper discusses the granulator machine testing process. This test aims to determine the process of occurrence of granular. Granular pellets are one form of feed pellets, granular (rounded) and light in weight. Granular pellets are not easy to sink but are easily broken down in water. This type of pellet is made without going through the process of pressing, so that it can produce feed grains that are light weighted, not easily submerged but easily decomposed in water. The goal is to determine the optimal state of the granulator machine with three angular tilt positions, it can perform maintenance on the granulator machine. The granulator machine testing process is carried out by means of the plate angle measurement process, the water mixture measurement process, the plate speed measurement process. Material used for the testing process uses flour and water. While the tools used in the granulator machine testing process are spray, 14 key, sieve, and container. After testing at 3 angles at an angle of 25o, angle of 30o and angle of 35o the authors conclude that this machine can produce small granules at a slope of 250 with an engine speed of 17 rpm and average weight of granular which is produced 236 grams. The chronology of the Social War has for a long time been a source of dispute amongst historians of fourth-century Athens. The central problem has been the confusion that Diodoros, our main source for the period, got himself into. In the first of his two references to the Social War Diodoros refers to the outbreak of a ‘three-year war’ in the archonship of Cephisodotos (358/357). However, later on he refers to the closure of the war in the archonship of Elpines (356/355) after a ‘four-year war.’

Abstract:
In this paper, an attempt was made to increase the ballistic protection of the armor system by combining non-homogenous spaced armor in form of multilayer wire mesh with rolled homogenous armor steel base plate. Different angles of incidence were tested: 0, 20, 25 and 35o, by using 12.7 mm armor piercing incendiary ammunition from 100 m. It was found that the inclination of the armor system has a negative effect on ballistic resistance due to variations in wire body-to-body distance, some of which can increase, causing a decreased contact with the projectile and an insufficient yaw. The yaw causes a sideways impact on the base plate. However, the non-penetrating hits in vertical armor cause a more severe damage on the base plate compared to the inclined armor system. This effect is due to the inclination itself, which is a common behavior of increasing effectiveness of sloped armor.

Abstract:
The aim of this paper is to investigate the influence of pressure angle on drive and coast sides in conventional design asymmetric normal contact ratio spur gear, considering the load sharing between the gear teeth pair. The multi pair contact model in finite element analysis is used to find the load sharing ratio and respective stresses. It has been found out that the predictions through multipoint contact model are in good agreement with the available literature. A unique Ansys parametric design language code is developed for this study. It is found that, the maximum fillet stress decreases up to the threshold point for drive side (35o) and coast side (25o) pressure angles, beyond this point it increases. The load share based maximum fillet and contact stresses are lower in the high pressure angle side than that of the low pressure angle side, when it is loaded at the critical loading points.

Abstract:
Hydrogen is a clean fuel for internal combustion engines since it produces only water vapor and nitrogen oxides when it burns. In this research, hydrogen is used as a blending fuel with diesel to reduce pollutants emission and to improve performance. It is inducted in the inlet manifold, of a single cylinder, four stroke, direct injection, water cold diesel engine, type (Kirloskar). Hydrogen blending is done on energy replacement basis. A special electronic unit is designed and fabricated to control hydrogen blending ratio. The maximum achieved ratio is 30% of input energy and beyond that engine operation becomes unsatisfactory when the air temperature is 20 oC and injection timing of -35o CA which represent the first part of this work. Inlet air heating system is built and added in the experimental work. The heating system allows to increase the air temperature up to 100 oC. A heating of air to 60 oC with injection timing of -30o CA and 55% of hydrogen blending is executed in the second part of this study. Tests are done with 17.5 compression ratio and 1500 rpm. The brake specific fuel consumption is reduced by 29% and 46%, the engine thermal efficiency is increased with 16% and 21% for the 1st and 2nd part respectively. The pollutant emissions of carbon oxides, UHC, and smoke opacity are dramatically decreased by 19.5%, 13%, and 45% respectively for the 1st part and 41%, 38% and 65.6% for the 2nd part while NOx emission is increased by 10% and 25% for the 1st and 2nd part respectively.

Abstract:
Fresh, dark grey to black, shales with minor sandstones of the Triassic Gemas Formation outcrop at the slope cut between Km 81.30 and 81.05 (southbound) of the North-South Expressway near Ayer Hitam in Johore State. The beds strike 165o with eastward dips of 35o to 43o and have thickness of between 0.2 and 1.5 m. Over-lying the fresh bedrock along an irregular boundary is a bleached zone, some 14 to 18 m thick, comprising light grey to white, in situ oxidized shales and sandstones. Three samples were collected from a thick shale bed; fresh samples A and B at 18 m and 15 m depth, respectively, and a bleached shale sample C at 11 m depth. All samples were air dried, finely ground, and then passed through a wire mesh sieve with 180 μm aperture sieve. The remoulded samples were tested with the Bromhead ring shear apparatus, employing the pre-shearing test procedure with multi-stage loading. Plots of shear stress versus cumulative horizontal shear displacement under low normal stresses (<150 kPa) yield failure envelopes with residual friction angles of 27.4o, 27.4o and 27.9o for samples A, B, and C, respectively. Under moderate to large normal stresses (150-350 kPa), plots of shear stress versus linear displacement sometimes slope upward due to increased friction as a result of sample extrusion and settlement of the top platen. It is concluded that the pre-shearing test procedure with multi-stage loading is best suited for low to moderate, effective normal stresses (<250 kPa). Based on the test results, the residual friction angle for shales from the Gemas Formation is between 27o and 28o.

Abstract:
Subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a severe disease in which 10% of patients may present sudden death before arriving at the hospital. Patients are exposed to a high risk of secondary complications including vasospasm. For refractory vasospasm and essentially for ICP control, hypothermia may be employed for the treatment. We aimed to evaluate the influence of therapeutic hypothermia in mortality rates of patients with severe SAH with high intracranial pressure despite best clinical treatment. Temperatures were reduced using mattress for a target temperature of 33-35o C. Five patients were included. Two patients were admitted with a Hunt-Hess scale grade of 2, two of 3 and one of 4. The mean length of therapeutic hypothermia was 7.2 days. Two patients survived with a Rankin scale of 0, and three died. In our observational study we observed a 180 days mortality rate of 40% that increased to 60% in six month analysis. Recent trials describe a mortality rate of 90% in patients with SAH and refractory ICH11. We believe hypothermia may be the best method to be employed in this clinical situation.

Abstract:

Research on biodiversity of N-fix bacteria was performed on rhizosphere of Tithonia diversifolia grown at acid soil Ultisol. This study aimed to determine the biodiversity and populations of N-fix bacteria along with the growth rate of Tithonia and characterized the bacterial isolates obtained from the rhizosphere of this plant. Soil rhizosphere samples were taken from rhizospheres of Tithonia with different criteria of stem diameter i.e Ø <3 cm, and 3 to 6 cm that grown at Faculty of Agriculture Andalas University experimental station. From these results it can be concluded that the diverse and larger population were found in Tithonia with 3 to 6 cm stem diameter an average of 19.7 x 103 cfu per g of soil. N-fix bacterial isolates obtained have a round, slimy, slippery and convex colonies and gram variable. Based on the color of their colonies, N-fix bacterial isolates obtained were classified into 3 groups with the following characteristics: (1) white milk isolates (A1ps, a2ps, B3ps), flourescent white and yellow, have flagella and produce auxin, (2) yellow isolate (B2K and B3K), with yellow flourescent, have flagella and produce auxin, and (3) the clear isolates that could separated into two groups i.e the flourescent group and produce auxin and has flagella isolates (A2b, A3b, and B2b) and non flourescent group, no flagella and does not produce auxin isolates (B1b, B3B). The optimum growth conditions for the all isolates were pH media nearly 7 with 35o C incubation temperature. The translucent isolates (A3b and B3B) have a optimum range pH from 4.36 to 6.17, while isolates with a yellow colonies (B2K) has a range of incubation temperature 25oC to 35oC. However, from the characterization performed could not permit to specify the isolates obtained into species.Key words : Biodiversity, N-fix bacteria, rhizosphere, Tithonia diversifolia

Abstract:
In the present work, the pollutants of the municipal wastewater are reduced using Chlorella vulgaris microalgae. The pollutants that were treated are: Total organic carbon (TOC), Chemical oxygen demand (COD), Nitrate (NO3), and Phosphate (PO4). Firstly, the treatment was achieved at atmospheric conditions (Temperature = 25oC), pH 7 with time (1 – 48 h). To study the effect of other microorganisms on the reduction of pollutants, sterilized wastewater and unsterilized wastewater were used for two types of packing (cylindrical plastic and cubic polystyrene) as well as algae's broth (without packing), where the microalgae are grown on the packing then transported to the wastewater for treatment. The results showed that the other microorganism in unsterilized wastewater can slightly contribute in the treatment. Packing of cylindrical plastic is more effective than the cubic polystyrene, and microalgae's broth gives better results than the two types of packing. The treatment in the first hours was performed quickly while in the last hours, it was very slow. Then, the following parameters in the range of (temperature: 20 – 35o) pH (5 – 8), volume ratio of wastewater to microalgae's broth (1 – 2.5) were studied for sterilized wastewater and constant treatment time equal to 48 h. The results showed that the maximum reduction of pollutants are: TOC = 92.3%, NO3 = 65.2%, PO4 = 93.2% at T = 35oC, pH 8, and (wastewater/algae broth) ratio = 1, and COD = 85.6% at T = 30oC, pH 7, and (wastewater/ algae broth) ratio = 1. The temperature and pH have little effect on the reduction of pollutants compared with the wastewater/algae broth ratio. The adsorption isotherm for pollutant was also studied for three types of isotherm; linear, Freundlich, and Langmuir. The results showed that the treated pollutants are the Langmiur adsorption isotherm.

Abstract:
Atmospheric aerosols, suspended solid and liquid particles, act as nucleation sites for cloud drop formation, affecting clouds and cloud properties—ultimately influencing the cloud dynamics, lifetime, water path, and areal extent that determine the reflectivity (albedo) of clouds. The concentration Nd of droplets in clouds that influences planetary albedo is sensitive to the availability of aerosol particles on which the droplets form. Natural aerosol concentrations affect not only cloud properties themselves but also modulate the sensitivity of clouds to changes in anthropogenic aerosols. It is shown that modeled natural aerosols, principally marine biogenic primary and secondary aerosol sources, explain more than half of the spatiotemporal variability in satellite-observed Nd. Enhanced Nd is spatially correlated with regions of high chlorophyll a, and the spatiotemporal variability in Nd is found to be driven primarily by high concentrations of sulfate aerosol at lower Southern Ocean latitudes (35o to 45oS) and by organic matter in sea spray aerosol at higher latitudes (45o to 55oS). Biogenic sources are estimated to increase the summertime mean reflected solar radiation in excess of 10 W m–2 over parts of the Southern Ocean, which is comparable to the annual mean increases expected from anthropogenic aerosols over heavily polluted regions of the Northern Hemisphere.

Abstract:
This research introduces a developed analytical method to determine the nominal and maximum tensile stress and investigate the stress concentration factor. The required tooth fillets parametric equations and gears dimensions have been reformulated to take into account the asymmetric fillets radiuses, asymmetric pressure angle, and profile shifting non-standard modifications. An analytical technique has been developed for the determination of tooth weakest section location for standard, asymmetric fillet radiuses, asymmetric pressure angle and profile shifted involute helical and spur gears. Moreover, an analytical equation to evaluate gear tooth-loading angle at any radial distance on the involute profile of spur and helical gears, (taking into account the effect of profile shift factor) has been derived. In addition, numerical solution for the evaluation of the maximum fillet tensile stress and the combined tensile stress concentration factor for the verification of the analytical method using computer-aided engineering software (ANSYS Version 18.1). The analytical and FE result have been compared and found to be very close. The most effective method for reducing the stress concentration factor have been found by applying negative profile shifting on asymmetric tooth with lower unloaded pressure angle and high loaded pressure angle and fillet radius, which can lead to an enhancement percentage of (20%) when using a (35o/20o) asymmetric spur gear of a (24) teeth number with a shift factor of (-0.3mo) compared with standard (20o) one.

Abstract:
Copper single crystals of {110}<001> crystallographic orientation were cold rolled to a true strain of 1.4. Specimens were cut from the as-deformed crystals with all surfaces mechanically ground and deep-etched in concentrated nitric acid to minimise the likelihood of surface nucleation of recrystallized grains during subsequent annealing. The early stages of static recovery were studied by annealing specimens at 300 oC. The crystallographic features of the deformed and annealed microstructures were determined by high resolution electron backscatter diffraction. It was observed that deformation was homogeneous with the microstructure in ND-RD plane exhibiting two complementary sets of intersecting bands at ~+ 35o to ND. Along these bands and in the microstructure, in general, there was an overall spread in orientation about ND towards {110}<112>. However, the orientation spread along these bands was cyclic, that is, sinusoidal orientation gradients were generated about ND with amplitude of up to 20o and wavelength 5-10 µm. Annealing resulted in the preferred growth of cells that have orientations at the edge of the orientation spread of the deformation substructure. This localized coarsening of the microstructure is similar to the discontinuous subgrain growth observed in {110}<001> oriented Al single crystals and indicates that discontinuous subgrain (cellular) growth can also occur in metals of lower stacking fault energy.

Abstract:
Abstract To determine effects of presynchronization and delayed fixed-time artificial insemination (TAI) on pregnancy rates to TAI (PR/AI) with sex-sorted semen, 2,855 Bos taurus beef heifers were enrolled in a completely randomized design. Within location, heifers were randomly assigned to one of eight treatments: 1 and 2), heifers were exposed to the 7-d CO-Synch+CIDR protocol wherein they received gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and a CIDR insert on d 0, prostaglandin F2α (PGF) upon CIDR removal on d 7, and were TAI 54 ± 2 h later with conventional (CTRL54-CNV; n = 359) or sex-sorted semen (CTRL54-SEX; n = 356); 3 and 4), same as CTRL54 but were TAI at 72 ± 2 h with conventional (CTRL72-CNV; n = 366) or sex-sorted semen (CTRL72-SEX; n = 360); 5 and 6), same as CTRL54 but also received PGF 7 d prior to initial injection of GnRH (d -7) and were TAI with conventional (PRE54-CNV; n = 355) or sex-sorted semen (PRE54-SEX; n = 353); 7 and 8), same as PRE54 but had TAI delayed to 72 ± 2 h and were inseminated with conventional (PRE72-CNV; n = 351) or sex-sorted semen (PRE72-SEX; n = 355). All heifers received estrus detection patches on d 7, which were evaluated for activation at TAI. Ultrasonography was performed 30–45 d after TAI to determine PR/AI. Estrus expression was greater (P < 0.01) in the CTRL72 heifers compared to CTRL54, PRE54, and PRE72 heifers (73.0 vs 55.4, 43.4, and 65.7%, respectively). Moreover, estrus expression was greater (P < 0.01) in PRE72 heifers compared to CTRL54 and PRE54 heifers. Within treatment pairs, PR/AI were greater (P ≤0.04) when conventional semen was utilized compared to sex-sorted semen. Furthermore, PR/AI were greater (P = 0.02) in PRE72-SEX heifers than CTRL54-SEX heifers (45.8 vs. 37.5%). No difference (P = 0.20) was determined in PR/AI between CTRL54-CNV and PRE72-SEX heifers (50.5 vs. 45.8%). In conclusion, presynchronization in combination with delayed TAI increased estrus expression and PR/AI with sex-sorted semen in replacement beef heifers.

Abstract:
An inhibitor-proteinase complex consisting of human alpha 1-PI and human leukocyte elastase is chemotactic for human neutrophils. The chemotactic activity is optimal at 1 nM and is associated only with the alpha 1-PI portion of the complex. Neither HLE in the complex, free HLE, nor native alpha 1-PI possesses chemotactic activity for human neutrophils. alpha 1-PI in complex is hydrolyzed at the Met-358-Ser-359 bond. The chemotactic activity is associated with the Mr 4,200 fragment of alpha 1-PI that has Ser-359 as its NH2 terminus. The region of the HLE-alpha 1-PI complex that stimulates chemotaxis appears to be the same as that of the Mr 4,200 fragment generated by hydrolysis of the Pro-357-Met-358 bond during proteolytic inactivation of alpha 1-PI. The data suggest the presence of a neutrophil surface receptor bound by alpha 1-PI after the formation of a complex with HLE or after proteolytic degradation. This receptor may play a role in clearance of these modified alpha 1-PI molecules.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Purpose. This in vitro study compared root canal preparation in curved mesiobuccal canals of molar teeth using either the One Shape™ or the Neoniti (Neolix) rotary NiTi single-file systems, assessing canal transportation, instrument separation and time required for preparation. Methods. Extracted maxillary and mandibular human molar teeth with mesiobuccal canals having apical angles of curvature between 25 and 35o were selected and embedded in acrylic resin blocks, and an initial CBCT was taken. The teeth were divided into two equal groups (n = 20), and the canals were cleaned and shaped using either Neoniti™ or One Shape™ engine-driven NiTi rotary files. Each individual instrument was used to prepare 5 canals. The time required for the preparation of each canal was recorded. Postpreparation CBCT scans were taken and used to determine the extent of canal transportation at levels of 2, 4, 6, and 8 mm from the apex. The Kolmogorov–Smirnov test for normality was applied, and then, datasets were compared using independent t-tests, with a threshold of P < 0.05 . Results. Neoniti rotary files caused significantly less canal transportation of the curved canals ( P = 0.0001 ). On the other hand, the time required for canal preparation was significantly shorter for One Shape ( P = 0.0001 ). No instrument separation was recorded in both groups. Conclusion. Based on these results, the Neoniti™ rotary file system is preferred because it maintains the original shape of curved root canals better than One Shape™; even though this benefit comes at the cost of an increase in preparation time in clinical practice, the better technical performance may be more important than a difference in procedural time.
