Abstract:
4033 Background: Concomitant radiochemotherapy (CRT) is the standard treatment of LAAC. The addition of an ICT (2 cycles of 5 FU-Cisplatin) and of a higher dose of irradiation boost (HDRT) to CRT were evaluated in a factorial 2X2 arms trial (A= ICT; B=ICT+HDRT; C= Reference arm = Pelvic RT 45 Gy/25 fractions with 2 cycles of 5FU-Cisplatin and a boost of 15 Gy; D= HDRT). The aim of the study was to detect a increase from 70 to 85% of colostomy-free survival (CFS) at 3 years. Methods: 307 pts with T2 > 4 cm or T3-T4 Nx or any T, N1–3 M0 LAAC were included. Carotid endarterectomy should be considered for patients with symptoms of focal cerebral ischemia, when it can be performed with a combined morbidity and mortality below the annual risk of stroke (5%). The experience with 815 carotid endartectomies perforformed from 1979 to 1992 is presented. There were 530 (65%) men and 285 (35%) women of ages from 34 to 82 (median 65); risk factors included diabetes mellitus 196 (24%), hypertension 554 (68%), and smoking 570 (70%). All the patients had a PSA at the 6th week (PSA6wRT) in the course of RT. Methods: From 1990 to 2004, 409 pts with localized prostate cancer were treated by RT. Median pretreatment PSA (PSApreRT) was 13 ng/mL (0.5–133). Clinical stage was T1 (26%), T2 (60%), and T3 (14%). Gleason score was 4–6 (59%), 7 (31%) and 8–10 (10%). Abstract Background: EPHOS-B is a multi-centre randomized trial designed to investigate whether anti-HER2 therapy given 11 days pre-surgery inhibited proliferation and/or increased apoptosis in HER2-positive early breast cancer. Significant differences in Ki67 response (≥30% change between baseline and surgery) were observed between treatment groups and control, although no significant increases in apoptosis were seen [1]. We report here 5-year outcomes and their association with peri-operative response, including post-hoc exploratory analyses on stromal tumour infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs).

Abstract Introduction: Neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) for early-stage breast cancer enables de-escalation of local therapy and tailored adjuvant therapy based on pathologic response. Data on the use of NACT for local and/or regionally recurrent (LRR) breast cancer (BC) is sparse. Herein, we evaluated use of NACT over time for triple negative (TN) and HER2+ LRR BC and impact of pathologic response on oncologic outcomes. Methods: We identified patients with first TN or HER2+ invasive LRR BC treated surgically at our institution from 9/2008-5/2024. Patients presenting with distant metastasis, in

IntroductionThe American Urological Association (AUA) and the European Association of Urology (EAU) currently recommend partial nephrectomy (PN) over ablation for cT1b lesions. However, recent series have shown comparable outcomes for cryoablation (CA) when compared to PN, making it an appealing alternative for a select group of patients. The objective of this manuscript is to assess treatment outcomes and complications of CA for cT1b lesions.MethodsUsing Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, a comprehensive search was done on MEDLINE and Cochr

Abstract The cyclin-dependent kinase inhibitor flavopiridol was inactive when given by 24–72-hr infusion, but 1-hr IV bolus dosing demonstrated clinical activity in mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) and chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). Flavopiridol induces apoptosis independent of p53 and may be able to eliminate tumor cells resistant to fludarabine and rituximab. We performed a phase I dose escalation study of flavopiridol in combination with fludarabine and rituximab (FFR) in patients (pts) with MCL, CLL and indolent B-cell non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma (NHL). The α-interferon (α-IFN) has been shown efficacious in controlling thrombocytosis in chronic myeloproliferative disorders. In order to better understand the mechanisms by which this effect is produced, the main parameters of thrombopoiesis have been evaluated in 8 patients with Essential Thrombocythaemia (ET)just before and at the end of induction therapy with α-IFN. The patients, 2 males and 6 females, 17-54 years old, at diagnosis or at least 3 months off cytotoxic drugs, received α-IFN (Roferon A-Roche) s.c. at a daily dose of 3 × 106 IU for 6-13 weeks.
