AbstractMicrolensing offers a unique way to constrain the physical extent of different emission regions in a lensed quasar, putting to test various accretion and continuum emission models. We perform a microlensing analysis using six Chandra observations (spanning six years) of the lensed quasar SDSS 0924+0219 (redshift zs=1.52), in which X-ray microlensing variability is detected with high confidence. The system exhibits pronounced microlensing variability in the X-rays compared to the optical, indicating a comparatively small extent of r1/2<3.8×104 cm (95% confidence) for the X-ray contin

ABSTRACT Observational studies of collimation in jets in active galactic nuclei (AGN) are a key to understanding their formation and acceleration processes. We have performed an automated search for jet shape transitions in a sample of 367 AGN using VLBA data at 15 and 1.4 GHz. This search has found 10 out of 29 nearby jets at redshifts z < 0.07 with a transition from a parabolic to conical shape, while the full analysed sample is dominated by distant AGN with a typical z ≈ 1. The ten AGN are UGC 00773, NGC 1052, 3C 111, 3C 120, TXS 0815−094, Mrk 180, PKS 1514+00, NGC 6251, 3C 371, and

Abstract:
The lithium rhodium stannide LiRh3Sn5 was synthesized from the elements in a sealed tantalum tube and investigated via X-ray powder and single crystal diffraction: Pbcm, a = 538.9(1), b = 976.6(3), c = 1278.5(3) pm, wR2 = 0.0383, 1454 F2 values, and 44 variables. Refinement of the occupancy parameters revealed a lithium content of 92(6)%. LiRh3Sn5 crystallizes with a new structure type. The structure is built up from a complex three-dimensional [Rh3Sn5] network, in which the lithium atoms fill channels in the b direction. The [Rh3Sn5] network is governed by Rh-Rh (274 - 295 pm), Rh-Sn (262 - 2

Objective:The aim of this study was the assessment of −308G/A tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α gene polymorphism and intPLA2 gene polymorphism in patients with anorexia nervosa (AN) and healthy controls.Subjects:We studied 91 non-related patients with AN and 144 healthy women (blood donors and students). The mean age of women from study group was 18.22 years (SD ± 3.13 years) and from control group was 31.71 years (SD ± 8.22).Methods:Gene polymorphisms were studied with the use of polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism method. As part of a programme to develop high-performance/high-temperature structural resins for aeronautical applications, imide oligomers containing pendent phenylethynyl groups were prepared, characterized, thermally cured and the cured resins evaluated as films, mouldings, adhesives and composites matrices. Initially a diamine containing a pendent phenylethynyl group (3, 5-diamino-4′-phenylethynylbenzophenone) was prepared and characterized. This compound was used to make amide acid and subsequently imide oligomers containing pendent phenylethynyl groups. In order to control the distance between

The Covid-19 pandemic had a dangerous impact on early-childhood education, lost learning in almost all aspects of child development. The house-to-house learning, with the name Moving Home Learning Program (MHLP), is an attractive offer as an emergency remote teaching solution. This study aims to describe the application of MHLP designed by early-childhood education institutions during the learning process at home. This study used a qualitative approach with data collection using interviews, observation, and documentation. The respondents involved in the interview were a kindergarten principal

Objectives: We have previously reported that brachial-ankle PWV (baPWV) is more strongly related to lipoprotein subclasses than carotid-femoral PWV (cfPWV) among middle-aged white men. The current study examined the associations of baPWV, cfPWV and femoral ankle PWV (faPWV) with lipoprotein subclasses in Japanese Americans, Koreans, and Whites. Methods: The ERA JUMP Study is an international population-based study of subclinical atherosclerosis in men aged 40-49 without clinical CVD in the US, Korea, Hawaii and Japan.
