Abstract:
OpenFlight is one of the standard formats in Virtual Reality applications. But it only provides crude 3D modeling. Therefore most of the users prefer to build up 3D models in 3DS Max software, while the models created in 3DS MAX could not be used directly in a virtual reality environment. This paper proposed a solution for format conversion between 3DS Max and OpenFlight. Among others it focused on combining triangle meshes in 3DS format into entire faces. A program followed the method proved its availability. The application of this program in a transportation safety education system showed that it has good effects.

This work is devoted to the creation of a laboratory workshop (virtual) for open online courses based on programs of three-dimensional computer graphics and multimedia. The issues of using SolidWorks, Autodesk® 3DS MAX software in distance learning are discussed. The software was used to prepare training materials for the courses course "Machines and mechanisms theory", "Computer Graphics" and "Engineering and Computer Graphics". Using the software product SolidWorks, Autodesk® 3DS MAX has significantly increased the visibility of the course and develop tools for organizing the independent work of students in an interactive mode.

Ship modeling is more complicated than any other artificial architecture according to its complicated structure, anomalous formation, all types of surface. Based on analysis on the hull, we studied the skills and methods with three views and lofting technique on the platform of 3ds MAX. Firstly, collect detail parameters and views from Internet, then preprocess orthographic views before establishing reference hull and fragmented curves by lofting technique. At last a complete ship model by combing hull and weapons is established. The simulation result is lifelike; it can provide an attractive experiment environment for Virtual Reality, Object Recognition, Engineering Analysis, etc.

Modular construction is a dominant manufacturing method for industrial construction in Alberta, Canada. Modularization requires large-capacity mobile cranes to lift heavy modules, such as piperack modules. The current practice utilizes AutoCAD to generate heavy lift studies for modular onsite installations. Heavy lift studies consist of 2D and 3D simulations of the lifting scenarios, along with the corresponding calculations (e.g., lifting capacity checking, ground bearing pressure checking). These static simulations provide snapshots of mobile cranes at pick and set configurations, but they do not represent the movements between the two configurations. For better communication among site engineers and crews, current static heavy lift studies need to be improved by animating the entire lifting process. 3ds Max is an animation tool that can visualize the lifting process, but the tedious and manual process of preparing the animation restricts efficiency and productivity. This research thus introduces a newly developed animation system that automates the transfer of heavy lift studies from AutoCAD into Autodesk 3ds Max animation. Also in this research, the kinetics of mobile cranes are studied and generic crane movements are defined. Using MAXScript, a script is written to link the crane and project database for automatic generating of animations. This research aims to provide the construction industry with a generic method for automating the animation process for heavy lifts based on AutoCAD and 3ds Max systems.

Abstract:
The aim of this research is to find out the differences in spatial intelligence and microscopic representation of prospective biology teachers in 3D software lectures on plant anatomy using Blender and 3DS Max applications. The research method used was quasi-experimental using the research design of The Matching Only Pretest-Posttest group design group. The population in this study is a prospective biology teacher in the department of biology education faculty of teaching and educational sciences in the academic year 2017/2018 at Siliwangi University who contracted the course of plant anatomy. Sampling is done by purposive sampling techniques as many as 2 classes by looking at the level of activeness in the same learning process. The results showed both classes showed a low spatial intelligence N-Gain category, as well as getting an average value of microscopic representation with a score of 3.7 for the use of 3Ds Max and 3.82 for Blender. The conclusion of this study is that there is no difference in spatial intelligence and microscopic representation of students, in addition students are still having difficulty for those who use max 3Ds software, because it requires a high enough computer specification, so the use of 3-dimensional blender application is more recommended used for aspiring biology teachers who want to make 3D forms of biological objects especially plant anatomy.

In this paper, the processes of the lathe spindle are firstly introduced. Next, 3DS MAX software is used to model the lathe spindle with actual sizes. Based on the 3D model of the spindle, the 3D model of its blank is established according to the characteristics of the spindle. All used cutting tools are modeled in 3DS MAX software. Then the changes in the allowance and the movements of cutting tools and the workpiece are simulated in this software. At last, all animations are composed with appropriate explanations. The synthetical animation is saved as a .avi type file to play the machining simulation. And also, the file may be loaded into a multimedia courseware to explain the whole process to students in class. The machining simulation can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of learning. It can be given to students as a tutorial to use to teach oneself.

The development of the Internet of Things and 3D technology promotes the wide application of face models in 3D animation. However, because the expression is inconsistent with the facial muscle movement, the reconstruction results may be far from the real appearance in the process of reconstructing the face appearance. Therefore, this paper proposes a character expression simulation model under the framework of 3DS Max. According to the relationship between head bones and muscles, a facial muscle motion model was established. Then, the expression simulation design of the original three-dimensional animation character “yaya” was carried out under the framework of 3DS Max technology. The experimental results of “yaya” facial expression test showed that the face simulation model using this method not only has vivid and natural expression but also conforms to the law of facial muscle movement, which provides an important reference for the construction and application of 3D face model.

Rad istražuje i učenje kroz igru, na primeru gradiva koje se uči na Departmanu za grafičko inženjerstvo i dizajn, iz oblasti prostornog dizajna. Cilj rada je istraživanje novih načina povećanja efikasnosti usvajanja gradiva, koji treba da su više prilagođeni novim generacijama koje imaju drugačije navike učenja. U radu su predstavljeni ključni faktori koji su odgovorni za efikasno, uspešno i poboljšano učenje kroz analizu konvencionalnih načina učenja, savremenih načina učenja, teorija koje se bave učenjem. Takođe, cilj je da se istraže kompjuterske igre i njihov potencijal u učenju.

В данной работе представлены результаты разработки алгоритма создания и редактирования трехмерной графики в Autodesk 3ds Max с использованием возможностей высокоуровневого языка программирования Python. На основе полученных результатов появляется возможность моделировать различные варианты квартальной застройки, которые можно использовать как основу BIM-модели при решении задач обучения и проектирования. Распределяются парковые зоны, жилые комплексы и элементы инфраструктуры. По завершению работы алгоритма формируется карта области застройки и ее 3D-модель. В процессе генерации модели с помощью языка Python формируется текстовый документ, содержащий информацию обо всех объектах, что исключает необходимость сохранения самой 3D-модели при каждой случайной генерации. Предлагаемый алгоритм можно использовать для тестовых и учебных заданий, а также возможны различные модификации для использования алгоритма в реальных проектах.

The authors present methods building and printing three-dimensional models for graphical reconstruction of historical architectural objects. Procedure sequence of the methods is exemplified through building the model of the Parochial Cathedral of St. Mary of the Perpetual Assistance of the 1950s. After analyzing and assessing the most popular specialized software means, the 3DS Max environment is chosen to build a three-dimensional model. Suggested software tools enable increased accuracy, speed and granularity of fixation of complex systems and expanded databases, providing efficient instruments to deal with bulk data and being relevant to new IT achievements. Sequence and content of operations for analytical and modeling cycles are substantiated. The cathedral model is built on the basis of archive photographs and drafts. The authors describe methods and the algorithm of procedures, principles of architectural and spacious modeling to recreate the architectural object. The three-dimensional model is built by applying a stereogram miniature of the destroyed Cathedral. Reconstruction of spacious configuration of the objects is based on parallax assessment of images. Stages of project implementation are determined. There are described methods of implementing modeling by 3DS Max tools and preparing the model for 3D printing in Cura.

Aimed at the problem of reading and controlling UG files by OpenGL in VC++ environment, a method of object-oriented programming is proposed. The OpenGL single document, multiple documents and visualization windows are created by using the classified idea in VC++ environment. PRT format data files of UG are converted to DXF format data files. Not only the conversion rate but also the conversion quality of different format data file are ensured by using the intermediate conversion format CGM and the problems of redundancy lines and view missing are prevented. DXF files are converted to 3DS files by 3DS MAX software. Controlling and redrawing of UG files in OpenGL are realized. The Object-oriented method is better than process-oriented program design method on the reliability and operability of procedure. The method has been applied in the virtual CNC milling system and provided a theoretical basis for the development of visualization system.

Our interest in this study is to give geometrical models for weft-knitted spacer fabrics which can be used in related engineering software. Models of two commonly used weft-knitted spacer fabrics are created here based on Kurbak’s 1998 plain knit model and are drawn to scale using the 3DS-MAX computer graphical program. It is observed that similar shapes to the real fabrics are obtained by the models.
