Abstract:
Les nuages jouent un rôle important dans le bilan radiatif terrestre en modulant les rayonnements solaire et thermique entrant et sortant qui à leur tour agissent directement sur les taux de refroidissement et de réchauffement à travers l 'atmosphère. Dans ce contexte, les mesures des paramètres nuageux est un but capital pour la climatologie. Pour objectif, plusieurs instruments spatiaux ont été étudiés. Nous nous sommes intéressés plus particulièrement aux instruments POLDER et MODIS , instruments passifs permettant une vision globale de la planète. En effet, ces deux instruments ont permis une nette amélioration des mesures sur les atmosphères nuageuses. En 2020, le lancement d'une autre mission (EPS-SG) est prévu avec l 'instrument 3MI à son bord. Il bénéficie des expériences de POLDER et de MODIS. Dans ce contexte, ce travail a pour but de comprendre et d'estimer les capacités du futur instrument 3MI à étudier les atmosphères nuageuses
Clouds play an important role in the Earth radiation budget by modulating both the incoming and outgoing solar and thermal radiation that in turn directly act on the heating and cooling rates within the atmosphere. In this context, the measurement of the cloud parameter is an important goal of climatology. For this purpose, several space instrument have been studied. We interest particularly of the instruments POLDER and MODIS, passive instruments wich allow a global vision of the earth. Indeed , thanks to those two experiments, the measurements of clouds parameters have been really improved. In 2020, an other satellite (EPS-SG) will be launched with the instrument 3MI onboard. This instrument benefits to the experiments of POLDER and MODIS. In this context, this work aims to understand the capabilities of 3MI to study the cloudy atmospheres

Cette thèse présente le développement d'une méthode innovante d'étalonnage en vol utilisant la réflexion spéculaire à la surface de l'océan, en particulier dans le cadre de la mission 3MI. Successeur des instruments POLDER/PARASOL, 3MI offre des capacités améliorées en matière d'observation multi-spectrale, permettant une surveillance précise des aérosols, des nuages et de l'atmosphère terrestre.La recherche se concentre sur l'utilisation du glitter, un phénomène naturel de réflexion se produisant à la surface de l'océan, comme cible d'étalonnage pour les radiomètres. Le glitter fournit un signal polarisé avec une forte intensité, ce qui en fait une référence utile pour l'étalonnage des instruments. Cependant, le principal défi de la méthode réside dans la modélisation précise de l'impact de la vitesse du vent de surface et des propriétés des aérosols, qui influencent toutes deux la précision de la simulation du signal réfléchi.Grâce à des études de sensibilité et des simulations de modèles, la thèse démontre qu'il est possible de minimiser ces incertitudes en se concentrant sur des zones d'invariance spécifiques au sein de la réflexion du glitter, où l'impact des paramètres géophysiques, principalement la vitesse du vent, est moins prononcé. Cette approche novatrice a été testée avec les données de la mission POLDER3/PARASOL, obtenant des simulations précises et validant la méthode pour une application potentielle à 3MI et aux futures missions satellitaires.La technique d'étalonnage proposée est significative non seulement pour améliorer les capacités d'étalonnage radiométrique de 3MI, mais aussi pour des applications plus larges sur divers instruments utilisés pour l'observation de la Terre. Elle a le potentiel de devenir une norme pour l'étalonnage en vol et le suivi temporel de celui-ci, critique notamment dans les missions de surveillance climatique et environnementale
This thesis presents the development of an innovative in-flight calibration method using the sunglint effect on the ocean surface, particularly within the context of the 3MI mission. As the successor to the POLDER/PARASOL instruments, 3MI offers improved capabilities in multi-spectral observation, enabling precise monitoring of aerosols, clouds, and the Earth's atmosphere.The research focuses on leveraging the sunglint, a natural reflection phenomenon that occurs on the ocean surface, as a calibration target for radiometers. The sunglint provides a polarized signal with high intensity, making it a useful reference for instrument calibration. However, the method's main challenge lies in accurately modeling the effect of surface wind speed and aerosol properties, both of which affect the precision of the simulated reflected signal.Through sensitivity studies and model simulations, the thesis demonstrates that it is possible to minimize these uncertainties by focusing on specific zones of invariance within the sunglint reflection, where the impact of geophysical parameters, mainly the surface wind speed, is less pronounced. This innovative approach was tested with data from the POLDER3/PARASOL mission, achieving accurate simulations and validating the method for potential application to 3MI and future satellite missions.The proposed calibration technique is significant not only for enhancing 3MI's radiometric calibration capabilities but also for broader applications across various instruments used in Earth observation. It has the potential to become a standard for in-flight calibration and its temporal monitoring which is particularly critical for climate and environmental monitoring missions

Realizamos un analisis secundario del Censo Nacional Penitenciario 2016 a fin de determinar el nivel de practica deportiva en prisión según la presencia de enfermedades crónicas (depresión, ansiedad, enfermedades respiratorias, diabetes, cáncer e hipertensión). Los resultados indican una prevalencia de práctica deportiva del 64,9% de prisioneros en el Perú, las personas con ansiedad y depresión realizan mayor practica deportiva de las que no presentan estas condiciones, respecto a la diabetes, cancer, hipertensión, enfermedades respiratorias hemos encontrados una menor probabilidad de prácticar deporte entre 4% y 19%. Recomendamos la implementacion de programas deportivos como medida preventiva para las enfermedades crónicas.

Conocer el nivel de actividad física y los factores sociodemográficos asociados al perfil activo y sedentario en una población de becarios de educación superior (universidad e institutos), mediante la aplicación de una encuesta y un cuestionario mundial de actividad física. Evaluamos a más de 4 mil becarios que estudian en 113 instituciones y hemos podido desarrollar un modelo explicativo de la conducta sedentaria en base a los factores sociodemográficos estudiados. Concluimos que los jóvenes que migran de los diferentes contextos geográficos y culturales a estudiar tienen un nivel alto de actividad física óptima, también recomendamos promover la actividad física desde la institución educativa, bajo el modelo de institución activa.

Se realizo un estudio transversal para determinar las características de la luxación de cadera en niños y adultos con parálisis cerebral en una casa albergue de Lima.Se revisaron los registros y las placas radiográficas de cadera.De los 22 participantes, seis presentaron luxación de cadera, tres subluxación de cadera bilateral , cuatro displasia de cadera bilateral y tres luxación completa bilateral. Ademas , solo 10 recibían sesiones de terapia física y cinco de ellos usaban dispositivos órtesicos. Es importante que los pacientes con parálisis cerebral en instituciones caritativas reciban una evaluación medica permanente así como el tratamiento quirúrgico y de terapia física para mejorar la calidad de vida de esta población vulnerable.

Las nanopartículas dopadas con lantánidos presentan aplicaciones interesantes en el campo de la biomedicina, debido a sus emisiones fluorescentes. En este trabajo se han utilizado las emisiones fluorescentes de nanopartículas de NaYF4: Er3+, Yb3+, Nd3+ en 525 nm y 545 nm (color verde), para determinar la temperatura de las nanopartículas y su entorno. Estas emisiones por upconversion son producidas al excitar los iones de Yb3+ con un láser de 980 nm, al incorporar los iones de Nd3+, se obtiene la misma emisión con un láser de 880 nm (preferible en aplicaciones con tejido humano). El comportamiento de estas emisiones fluorescentes en verde es sensible a los cambios de temperatura, por lo que se utiliza para la calibración de nanotermómetros.

Ti-lOV-2Fe-3AI is a near-p titanium alloy· primarily used in the landing gear of aircraft. Such components are normally produced by isothermal forging but the sensitivity of the microstructure to temperature makes forging optimisation difficult and therefore, an empirical approach is usually applied. To reduce the resultant high processing costs, it is essential for the industry to accurately l:ffiderstand and predict microstructural evolution and properties with respect to the isothennal forging variables. This thesis considers the evolution of macrotexture and microtexture in Ti-l0V..2Fe-3AI during and after forging. The aim of this research is to improve our understanding of the micromechanics ofthis alloy. t· The effect of aging on the lattice strain behaviour of Ti-l0V-2Fe-3Al was investigated. In-situ synchrotron diffraction was performed while the as-forged condition and the forged and aged were undergoing tensile loading at room temperature. The behaviour ofboth conditions was modelled using a two-phase elastic-plastic self consistent (EPSC) scheme in an attempt to rationalise the material behaviour. It was found that the constrained p phase stiffuess, Ezoo, increased from 45GPa in the asforged condition to 88GPa in the forged and aged material. The model results showed that ell -CIZ increased from 12GPa in the forged condition to 47GPa in the forged and aged material. This can be attributed to an increase in p-stabiliser content and is in agreement with atomistic predictions. The EPSC models, while reasonably successful at reproducing the observed behaviour, do not provide a complete description of the micromechanics of these materials due to the complexity of the microstructures. The macrotexture and microtex-ture were investigated during a.+p forging of Ti-l0V-2Fe-3Al and were characterised using a combination of neutron, in-situ synchrotron X-ray and ex-situ electron backscatter -diffraction (EBSD). The EBSD analysis showed that the measured misorientation distributions at a strain of 0.8 and strain rates of 0.ls-1 and O.Ols-· were similar, with an average misorientation of 2.2°. It was. found that during forging, the moderate cube macrotexture inherited from the parent material evolved into a moderate fibre texture, with the major change occurring between strains of 0.4 and 0.6. The synchrotron diffraction studies allowed the orientation evolution of individual grains to be characterised. At the highest strain rate of 0.15-·, this indicated a change in behaviour from dispersion of the crystal mosaic (peak angular spread) at low strains, to convergence of the crystal mosaic at larger strains. At lower strain rates, only convergence of the crystal mosaic was observed. It is suggested that these results indicate a change in mechanism between deformationcontrolled behaviour during the early stages of deformation and a strain rate of 0.1 s-· and diffusional, recovery-controlled behaviour lower strain rates and higher strains.

Abstract Chronic conditions are the leading cause of death in the world. Major improvements in acute care and diagnostics have created a tendency towards the chronification of formerly terminal conditions, requiring people with these conditions to learn how to self-manage. Mobile technologies hold promise as self-management tools due to their ubiquity and cost-effectiveness. The delivery of health-related services through the use of mobile technologies (mHealth) has grown exponentially in recent years. However, only a fraction of these solutions takes into consideration the views of relevant stakeholders like healthcare professionals or even patients. The use of behavioral change models (BCM) has proven important in developing successful health solutions, yet engaging patients remains a challenge. There is a trend in mHealth solutions called gamification that attempts to use game elements to drive user behavior and increase engagement. As it stands, designers of mHealth solutions for behavioral change in chronic conditions have no clear way of deciding what factors are relevant to consider. This doctoral thesis is framed in Consumer Health Informatics within the field of Medical Informatics and Information Systems. The focus of this work was to discover factors for the design of mHealth solutions for chronic patients; to do so, negotiations between medical knowledge, BCM and gamification were explored through an embedded case study research methodology. The data obtained was thematically analyzed to create the Model for Motivational Mobile-health Design for Chronic conditions (3MD). The 3MD model guides the design of condition-oriented gamified behavioral change mHealth solutions. The main components are: 1) Condition specific, which describe factors that need to be adjusted and adapted for each particular chronic condition; 2) Motivation related, which are factors that address how to influence behaviors in an engaging manner; and 3) Technology based, which are factors that are directly connected to the technical capabilities of mobile technologies. 3MD also provides a series of high level illustrative design questions for designers to use and consider during the design process. The work on this thesis addresses a recognized gap in research and practice, and proposes a unique model that could be of use in the generation of new solutions to help chronic patients
Tiivistelmä Krooniset sairaudet ovat maailman yleisin kuolinsyy. Akuutissa hoidossa ja diagnostiikassa on tapahtunut merkittäviä parannuksia, ja aikaisemmin kuolemaan johtaneista sairauksista on tullut kroonisia ja ihmisten on opittava hallitsemaan niitä itse. Mobiiliteknologiat tarjoavat mahdollisuuksia sairauksien itsehallintaan, koska teknologiaa on yleisesti saatavilla ja se on kustannustehokasta. Terveyspalvelujen tarjoaminen mobiiliteknologian avulla on lisääntynyt huomattavasti viime vuosina. Kuitenkin vain murto-osa näistä ratkaisuista ottaa huomioon sidosryhmien, kuten terveydenhuollon ammattilaisten ja jopa potilaiden, näkemykset. Käyttäytymismuutosmallit ovat osoittautuneet tärkeiksi kehitettäessä onnistuneita terveysratkaisuja, mutta potilaiden osallistaminen kehittämiseen on yhä vaikeaa. Pelillistäminen on mobiilien terveysratkaisujen suunnittelutrendi, ja pelielementeillä pyritään vaikuttamaan ihmisten käyttäytymiseen ja sitoutumiseen. Mobiilien terveyssovellusten suunnittelijoilla ei ole selkeää näkemystä siitä, mitkä sovellustekijät vaikuttavat merkittävimmin kroonisissa sairauksissa sairastavien potilaiden käyttäytymisen muutokseen. Tämä väitöskirja tarkastelee kuluttajille suunnattua terveysteknologiaa, joka hyödyntää lääketieteellistä informatiikkaa ja tietojärjestelmätieteitä. Työn tavoitteena oli selvittää kroonisia sairauksia sairastaville potilaille tarkoitettujen mobiilien terveyssovellusten suunnitteluun liittyviä tekijöitä. Tämän vuoksi lääketieteen tietämyksen, käyttäytymismuutoksien mallien ja pelillistämisen yhdistämistä tutkittiin sulautetun tapaustutkimuksen avulla. Saatuja tietoja temaattisesti analysoimalla luotiin kroonisia sairauksia varten motivoivan mobiilin terveyssovelluksen suunnittelumalli (3MD = Model for Motivational Mobile-health Design). 3MD-malli ohjaa sairauksien hallintaan tarkoitettujen pelillistettyjen ja käyttäytymismuutoksiin tähtäävien mobiilien terveyssovellusten suunnittelua. Mallin pääkomponentit ovat: 1) Sairautta kuvaavat tekijät, jotka kuvaavat tekijöitä, jotka on mukautettava ja sovitettava kullekin krooniselle sairaudelle. 2) Motivaatioon liittyvät tekijät, jotka vaikuttavat innostavasti käyttäytymiseen. 3) Teknologiaan perustuvat tekijät, jotka liittyvät suoraan mobiiliteknologian teknisiin ominaisuuksiin. 3MD tarjoaa myös havainnollisia suunnittelukysymyksiä, joita suunnittelijat voivat käyttää ja pohtia suunnitteluprosessin aikana. Esta memoria se escribe en un periodo de auge de las energías renovables en Chile, donde existen una gran cantidad de proyectos en cartera y leyes específicas, que si bien son perfectibles, han significado un avance al permitir el ingreso al mercado a la pequeña generación renovable. Esto, sumado a los altos precios de la energía, ha hecho florecer la generación fotovoltaica en pequeña y gran escala tanto en el Sistema Interconectado Central como en el Sistema Interconectado del Norte Grande. El objetivo de esta memoria es la evaluación técnico-económica de una central fotovoltaica de potencia nominal de 3MW en la Comuna de Cabildo, V región. Para ello, se evaluó el marco regulatorio, la generación esperada, los escenarios de precios futuros, los costos de inversión y operación, y finalmente, los costos de instalación de la planta. Para estudiar la factibilidad económica se evalúan las opciones de venta de energía, particularmente, las opciones de venta a Precio Nudo y Costo Marginal o instantáneo. Para el modelamiento de estas alternativas se utilizan proyecciones de precios (Costos Marginales) promedio mensuales de la Comisión Nacional de Energía [34] a las que se les incorpora variabilidad diaria haciendo uso de series históricas horarias. Todo lo anterior, permite estimar los ingresos por venta de energía que junto con los costos de inversión y operación, permiten hacer una evaluación económica que entrega un VAN de -1.629. 725 USD a una tasa de descuento del 10% en un escenario Normal. Buscando robustecer el análisis se evalúan diferentes escenarios de precios, factores de planta y escenarios de subestimación de la inversión. A partir, de la evaluación efectuada, se concluye que el proyecto es factible solo en escenarios de precios de energía elevados vendiendo a Costo Marginal. La mise au point d’une méthode d’analyse par UPLC-MS/MS et dilution isotopique nous a permis d’identifier pour la première fois dans un moût le S-3-(hexan-1-ol)--glutamyl-cystéine (GluCys-3MH). Suite à cette découverte, l’étude des interconversions entre les glutathionylés, dipeptides et cystéinylés S-conjugués au 3-mercaptohexan-1-ol (3MH) ou à la 4-mercapto-4-méthyl-pentan-2-one (4MMP), a permis de mettre en évidence deux nouvelles formes de précurseurs. Le suivi de l’évolution de ces différents composés au cours de fermentations alcooliques à l’échelle laboratoire a permis de clarifier leur rôle de précurseurs et d’établir les éventuels mécanismes d’interconversion. Par ailleurs, à travers plusieurs expérimentations viticoles et œnologiques conduites à l’échelle pilote en Languedoc et Val de Loire pendant trois années consécutives, des éléments nouveaux ont pu être apportés quant à l’impact de la maturation du raisin et son hétérogénéité, ainsi qu’à l’importance des opérations pré-fermentaires comme la macération pelliculaire ou la stabulation sur bourbes
The development of a method using UPLC-MS/MS and stable isotope dilution assay allowed us to identify for the first time the S-3-(hexan-1-ol)--glutamyl-cysteine (GluCys-3MH) in musts. Following this discovery, the study of interconversions between glutathione, dipeptides and cysteine S-conjugates to 3-mercaptohexan-1-ol (3MH) or 4-mercapto-4-methyl-pentan-2-one (4MMP) highlighted two new forms of precursors. Mechanical alloying, compaction by cold isostatic pressing, and pressureless sintering were used to study the potential for W â 3 wt% Ni â 1 wt% Fe to be processed into the bulk nanocrystalline form as a replacement material for depleted uranium in kinetic energy penetrators. Milling time and sintering temperature were varied from 15 to 100 hours and 1000 to 1300°C respectively. Particle size analysis and SEM showed a bimodal particle size distribution with most of the particles below 10 µm in size. XRD peak broadening analysis showed crystallite size to be reduced to below 50 nm, while peak shifting indicated a reduction in W lattice parameter due to dissolution of Ni and Fe atoms into the W BCC lattice. Post-sintering bulk characterization showed density increasing strongly with increasing sintering temperature to above 90% of theoretical density at 1200°C. Apparent activation energy for sintering decreased strongly with increasing milling time. SEM micrographs showed a bimodal grain size distribution with some areas of smaller submicron grains and others with larger grains on the order of 1 â 4 µm, likely connected to the bimodal particle size distribution from milling. XRD and SEM also showed the precipitation of two secondary phases during sintering: (Fe, Ni)6W6C incorporating carbon from the grinding media and an FCC solid solution of Ni, Fe, and W. The intermetallic carbide phase will increase strength but reduce ductility of the bulk material, which is not desirable. Micro and macrohardness testing show similar trends as density with a strong correlation with sintering temperature.

The French variety Sauvignon Blanc, used for the vinification of white wines, has a very appreciated varietal aroma by worldwide consumers. This aroma comes from its volatile sulfur compounds, denominated volatile thiols or mercaptans. It gives a tropical flavors as boxwood, grapefruit and passion fruit. The volatile thiols responsible for such flavorings are principally: 4-mercapto-4-methylpentan-2-one (4MMP), 3-mercaptohexanol (3MH), ethyl 3-mercaptohexilo (A3MH) and 4-mercapto-4-methyl-pentan-1-ol (4MMPOH), respectively (Darriet and Tominaga, 1995). These compounds are released during the fermentation by the action of yeast which produce the β-lyase enzyme that reacts with the substrate not odorants present in grape, namely: S-cysteine conjugates, the conjugates of S-glutathione and E-hexen 2-al (Murat et al. 2001; Subileal et al. 2008). These compounds are the precursors of thiols. This experiment search the release of the varietal thiols in white portuguese varieties Viosinho, Arinto, Alvarinho and Encruzado and also in red varieties Touriga Nacional and Syrah (the latter, French) by using the enzyme β-lyase Endozym Thiol® produced by the AEB Group, with specific secondary activities, which promote the hydrolysis of grape aromatic tiols precursors as 4MMP, A3MH, 3MH and 4MMPOH. For the determination of the concentrations of thiols in wines studied Analysis was performed with Gas Chromatography coupled to Mass Spectrometry (CG-MS) using the method described by Mateo-Vivaracho et al. (2008). To analyze the effectiveness of the release of tiols aromas in wines that received the enzyme formulation Endozym Thiol® compared with vinified without enzyme added, there was a panel of tests , with 8 trained panelists . As a conclusion, there was a trend in the increase of the global concentrations of thiols in wines that received Endozym Thiol® in winemaking, however, in its thiolated character the aroma tones of tropical fruits and vegetables was not pronounced in wines that received the enzyme.

In the past twenty years a rapid growing interest in thiols can be seen as a function of the amount of papers and research done on this topic, with the aim of understanding the biosynthesis of the main varietal thiols, as well as the desire to develop methods and ways to increase their concentration in wine. The aim of this research is to evaluate the potentialities of an additive in the form of β-lyase enzyme and the protocol used to utilize it. Two red varieties (Syrah and Touriga Nacional) and four white varieties (Alvarinho, Arinto, Encruzado and Viosinho) were used, grown and processed in Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA) in Lisbon, Portugal. To each varietal wine a control wine and a test wine (with enzyme addition) were made and compared for their chromatic characters and sensorial impression. Using the Statistical tools; t-Test, ANOVA, PCA and cluster analysis each treated wine was compared to its control. The results of this dissertation suggest that there are no significant differences between the treated wines and the control either in terms of chromatic characters or sensorial impressions, concluding that there may be loss of thiols to oxidation which requires a change in vinification scale

In this work, the sulphur varietal compound aromatic potencial of 7 Portuguese Grapes wines was studied in comparision with Sauvignon Blanc. The aroma compounds containing sulphur compounds as 3-mercaptohexyl acetate (A3MH), 3-mercaptohexanol (3MH) and 4-mercapto-4-methylpentan-2-one (4MMP) were searched in particular. GCFPD, GC-MS and GC-Olfactometry analysis were conducted to obtain confirmation of the existence of those compounds. Only GC-olfactometry revealed the presence of two olfactory zones relatives of the 4MMP and 3MH in all Portuguese Grape varieties wines from 2009, and a third intermediary olfactory zone relative of A3MH only revealed in the young 2010 wines from Arinto and Fernão Pires. The 4MMP and the A3MH were not quantified nevertheless the olfactometric measures allow to determine relative differences among wines. The 3MH was semi-quantified in 5 of the Portuguese varieties wines using GC-FPD equipment. Schrodinger’s equation, the foundation of quantum mechanics describes the chemical properties of everything around you. These equations are so useful because they are tools for making incredibly accurate predictions, leading to some of the greatest achievements of human kind. Unfortunately though, in many complex situations solving these equations is too hard. For instance, we would like to predict whether or not two molecules dissolved in water will bind together, but using Schrodinger’s equation to do this can be beyond the powers of even the hugest supercomputer.

As ligas Ti-??constituem um grupo promissor de ligas de titânio em termos de processamento, propriedades e aplicações potenciais. Além do projeto da liga em termos de composição, a obtenção de microestruturas adequadas por meio de tratamentos térmicos é necessária para otimizar o balanço entre resistência mecânica e tenacidade. O presente trabalho teve por objetivo estudar o comportamento em fadiga de alto ciclo da liga Ti-13V-11Cr-3Al, uma liga de alta resistência mecânica destinada ao emprego na indústria aeroespacial, sob duas condições de tratamento. O material foi recebido na forma de barras com 7,6 mm de diâmetro, apresentando microestrutura composta por grãos alongados e propriedades em tração combinando alto limite de resistência (1.479 MPa) e razoável ductilidade (deformação verdadeira de fratura igual a 0,217). O material foi tratado termicamente em duas condições: recozimento a vácuo a 750?C por 1 h com resfriamento lento, e tratamento flash em banho de sal a 650?C por 6 min, com posterior têmpera em água. O tratamento flash resultou em melhor combinação de resistência mecânica e ductilidade, avaliadas pelo ensaio de tração. O estudo da resistência à fadiga baseou-se na obtenção de curvas ?/N por meio de ensaios de flexão rotativa (R = -1) empregando-se corpos de prova do tipo viga em balanço. Para cada condição microestrutural, foram obtidas duas curvas ?/N, uma com amostras polidas e outra empregando-se corpos de prova com concentradores de tensão geométricos (entalhes), visando avaliar a sensibilidade ao entalhe desta liga nas duas condições microestruturais. O material submetido ao tratamento flash apresentou maior dispersão e menor resistência à fadiga, comparado ao material recozido; no entanto apresentou também menor sensibilidade ao entalhe em vidas longas (106 ciclos). O trabalho foi complementado por exames fractográficos para a identificação dos pontos de iniciação da fratura.
The Ti-??alloys are a promising group of titanium alloys in terms of processing, properties and potential applications. In order to achieve the optimum balance between strength and toughness it is necessary, besides determining a proper composition in the alloy design, to obtain suitable microstructures by means of thermo-mechanical process and heat treatment. This study aimed to assess the high cycle fatigue behavior of Ti-13V-11Cr- 3Al alloy, a high-strength alloy intended for use in the aerospace industry. The material was received in the form of bars with 7.6 mm in diameter, whose microstructure comprises elongated grains and whose mechanical properties combines high tensile strength (1,479 MPa), and reasonable ductility (true strain fracture equal to 0.217). The material was heat treated in two conditions: vacuum annealing at 750?C for 1 h with slow cooling, and flash 650?C salt bath for 6 min with subsequent water quenching. The study was based on obtaining ??/ N curves through by rotary bending (R = -1) fatigue tests employing cantilever beam specimens. For each microstructural condition, two ??/ N curves were obtained, the former with smooth samples and the latter employing specimens with geometric stress concentrators (notches), to evaluate the notch sensitivity of this alloy in both microstructural conditions. The material subjected to flash treatment showed greater dispersion and lower fatigue strength compared to annealed; however also showed lower notch sensitivity at long life (106 cycles). The study was complemented by fractographics analysis to identify the fracture initiation points.

Brand portfolios of multinational firm are a complex organism which is managed by headquarter of organization, in particular by the brands architecture and rebranding. The distributors create a direct feedback relationship from the market and they significantly influence any success of brands. The specific work of marketing personnel with brands is thus influenced by many stakeholders on the market and, in consequence, the specific work becomes a complex marketing activity. This master thesis is concerned with the architecture of the specific portfolio of 3M and the work with its brands. The aim is (i) to map architecture of the specific portfolio of 3M House of Brands and (ii) to assess rebranding form 2015 and (iii) to analyze the work with 3M brands and to formulate recommendation for improvements of the work with 3M. The first part is considers the architecture of brands from a theoretical viewpoint which provides a basis for the mapping of 3M House of Brands. There is also specified marketing research methodology which is applied in the practical part of the thesis concerned with specific secondary data, questionnaire survey and deep interviews. In the practical part of the master thesis there is analyzed 3M Case Study, in which there is described and assessed the empirical research of 3M brands. The research consists of two parts: (1) questionnaire survey orientated on B2B distributors, and (2) deep interviews carried out with 3M marketing and special personnel. The comparison and synthesis of more qualitative data appears that the most important result. The 3M perspectives of the marketing personnel and the distributors on the selection of brand activities differ in spite the fact that their aims are similar. The key recommendation of this thesis is, therefore, to give more importance to preferences of the market and create upon this empirical basis more effective branding activities.

L’objectif de ce travail de thèse était d’étudier le comportement en fatigue oligocyclique de l’acier Fe-3Si utilisé pour les rotors des nouveaux alterno-démarreurs développés par Valeo. L’étude pris en compte la relation entre la réponse mécanique et la microstructure, les mécanismes de fatigue, l’évaluation de la déformation à une échelle mésoscopique et une optimisation du dimensionnement du rotor. Les essais de fatigue, menés sur des éprouvettes d’épaisseur 350μm, ont montré un durcissement cyclique du matériau et le mode de propagation de la fissure, fragile, souligne sa faible ténacité. La formation de structure de dislocations observées par Microscopie Electronique en Transmission (TEM) et par cECCI (Controlled Electron Channelling Contrast Imaging) est dépendante de la déformation et la variation de déformation totale Δεt=0.7% apparaît comme une valeur de transition. En-dessous de Δεt =0.7%, des arrangements homogènes de dislocations et un amorçage de la fissure transgranulaire sont observés. Au-dessus de Δεt =0.7%, des structures veines-canaux et murs-canaux sont observés et l'amorçage de fissure est intergranulaire. Une étude EBSD (Electron Back-Scattered Diffraction) basée sur les paramètres KAM, GROD et GOS menée sur les éprouvettes fatiguées montre un gradient de déformation dans les grains et une localisation de la déformation aux joints de grain au-dessus de Δεt =0.7%. Enfin, en prenant en compte les propriétés en fatigue de l’acier Fe-3Si dans la base de données matériaux de la modélisation par éléments finis, des légères modifications de la géométrie du rotor ont été effectuées ce qui améliore les performances électromagnétiques de la machine
The objective of the PhD work was to investigate the low cycle fatigue (LCF) behaviour of Fe-3Si steel employed for rotors of new starter-alternators developed by Valeo. The study took into account the relation between mechanical response and microstructure, the fatigue mechanisms, the assessment of strain at a mesoscopic scale and an optimisation of the rotor design. Low cycle fatigue tests performed on 350μm thick specimen pointed out a cyclic hardening of the material. The brittle crack propagation mode underlined the low toughness of the material. The formation of dislocations structures observed by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) and controlled Electron Channelling Contrast Imaging (cECCI) was strain dependant. The total strain variation Δεt =0.7% appeared as a transition value. Below Δεt =0.7%, homogeneous arrangement of dislocations and transgranular crack initiation are observed. Above Δεt =0.7%, a mixture of veins-channels and wall-channels were observed inside the grains and cracking became intergranular. An Electron Back-Scattered Diffraction (EBSD) study was then performed on the specimen fatigued above Δεt=0.7% and approached with KAM, GROD and GOS parameters. It pointed out the strain gradient within grain and highlighted the strain localisation at grain boundaries. Finally, by taking into account LCF properties of the Fe-3Si steel in the material database of the finite element modelling, slight modifications of the rotor geometry have been performed which improves the electromagnetic performances of the machine

Shape memory alloys (SMA) are alloys that undergo martensitic transformation due to an external solicitation (temperature, stress, strain or magnetic field) and are capable of recovering permanent deformation when heated above a critical temperature. The most used shape memory alloys are Ti-Ni- and Cu-based. Cu-based SMA have some advantages due to better thermal and electrical conductivity, lower production cost and are easier to process. The main disadvantage of Cu-based SMA is its low ductility. This property is improved by decreasing the grain size and by a reduction of microstructural heterogeneities. This can be achieved at the surface of structural components after LASER remelting, through which the surface of the material is remelted by a LASER beam and solidifies under extremely high cooling rates. In this context, the aim of the present work is to investigate the influence of LASER surface remelting in the microstructure, thermal stability and mechanical properties of Cu-11.8Al-3.2Ni-3Mn (wt. %) SMA plates obtained by suction casting. The samples were characterized by optical and scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, electron backscatter diffraction, X-ray computed tomography, X-ray diffraction, differential scanning calorimetry as well as by tensile and microhardness tests. The results show that small shifts in the transformation temperatures occur due to the LASER treatment. It was observed that only the monoclinic β’1 martensitic phase formed in the as cast and LASER treated samples. The LASER treatment provided an improvement in mechanical properties with an increase of up to 162 MPa in fracture stress, up to 2.2% in fracture strain and up to 21 HV in microhardness when compared with the as-cast sample. This makes the surface remelting treatment a promising method for improving the mechanical properties of Cu-based SMA.
Ligas com memória de forma (LMF) sofrem transformação martensítica devido a uma solicitação externa (temperatura, tensão, deformação ou campo magnético) e são capazes de recuperar deformações permanentes quando aquecidas acima de uma temperatura crítica. Dentre as LMF mais utilizadas se destacam aquelas à base de Ti e Ni e aquelas à base de Cu. As à base de Cu apresentam vantagens devido a melhor condutividade térmica e elétrica, menor custo de produção e maior facilidade de processamento. A principal desvantagem das LMF à base de cobre é a baixa ductilidade. Uma forma de melhorar essa propriedade é promovendo uma diminuição no tamanho de grão e uma redução das heterogeneidades microestruturais. Isso pode ser obtido no tratamento de refusão superficial a LASER, no qual a superfície do material é refundida por um feixe de LASER e solidificada sob altas taxas de resfriamento. Nesse contexto, o objetivo da presente dissertação de mestrado é analisar a influência do tratamento de refusão superficial a LASER na microestrutura, na estabilidade térmica e nas propriedades mecânicas de placas da LMF Cu-11,8Al-3,2Ni-3Mn (% peso) obtidas através de fundição por sucção. As amostras foram caracterizadas por microscopia óptica e eletrônica de varredura, espectometria de energia dispersiva de raios X, difração de elétrons retroespalhados, tomografia computacional por raios X, calorimetria diferencial de varredura, difração de raios X, ensaio de tração e microdureza. A análise dos resultados mostrou que as temperaturas de transformação sofreram pequenas variações e nenhuma nova fase foi observada após o tratamento de refusão a LASER, sendo observada apenas a presença da fase monoclínica martensítica β’1. O tratamento propiciou uma melhoria nas propriedades mecânicas das placas obtidas por fundição por sucção, com um aumento em até 162 MPa na tensão de fratura, em até 2,2 % na deformação de fratua e em até 21 HV na microdureza, fazendo deste tratamento um método promissor para melhorar as propriedades mecânicas das LMF à base de Cu.

O cÃncer à caracterizado por ser um conjunto de doenÃas que envolve crescimento descontrolado, surgimento e espalhamento de cÃlulas anormais, e à considerada uma das principais causa de morte por doenÃa no mundo. AscÃdias e microorganismos marinhos sÃo profÃcuos produtores de substÃncias com atividade citotÃxica e antitumoral. Estudos preliminares com a ascÃdia Eudistoma vannamei, endÃmica do nordeste brasileiro, identificaram uma potente atividade anticÃncer de seu extrato e, a partir dele, isolaram-se esteuroporinas inÃditas. Curiosamente, tais molÃculas sÃo comumente produzidas por bactÃrias. No presente trabalho, os extratos dos microorganismos isolados da ascÃdia foram testados quanto a sua citotoxicidade e o mais potente deles foi selecionado e indentificado como actinomiceto pertencente ao gÃnero Streptomyces sp. A partir da purificaÃÃo desse extrato, foi isolada uma ditiolpirrolona citotÃxica que apresentou valores de concentraÃÃo inibitÃria mÃdia variando de 1,05 a 6,39 μM, em diferentes linhagens tumorais. Estudos realizados em cÃlulas de carcinoma prostÃtico humano metastÃtico indicaram que a ditiolpirrolona causou despolarizaÃÃo mitocondrial e induziu o aparecimento de figuras mitÃticas, apÃs 24 e 48 horas de tratamento. AlÃm disso, detectou-se alteraÃÃo no ciclo celular, como atraso nas fases final do ciclo, S e G2/M. A ditiolpirrolona alterou a expressÃo de algumas proteinas relacionadas ao ciclo celular e principalmente à citocinese, como Prc1, Plk-1 e RhoA, tais proteÃnas estÃo diretamente envolvidas com a formaÃÃo do anel contrÃtil, imprescindÃvel para a conclusÃo da divisÃo celular
Ascidians and marine microorganisms are prolific producers of cytotoxic and antitumor compounds. As part of a study to examine Brazilian species, we examined microbiota associated with ascidian, Eudistoma vannamei as potential sources for active natural product leads Earlier revisions with this specie showed a potent anticanceractivity of its extract; and two unpublished staurosporines were isolated. Curiously, these classes of compounds are generally produced by bacteria. So, in order to evaluate the biomedical potential of these compounds the microbiota associated to the ascidian Eudistoma vannamei was investigated. From this effort we isolated a number of bacterial strains and after screening for cytotoxicity using a panel of tumor cell lines, we identified a Streptomyces sp.,that presented significant bioactivity. Using bioactivity fractionation, we identified the active compound as, dithiolopyrrolone N-(4,5-dihydro-5-oxo-1,2- dithiolo[4,3-b]pyrrol-6-yl)-N-methyl-formamide also know as VD846. The compound presented IC50 values ranging from 1.1 to 6.4 μM across a panel of cell lines. Further biological studies, indicated that this compound induced cell cycle arrest during mitosis, an observation that was confirmed by evaluating the effects on a series of cell lines using mitotic index analyses, flow cytometry, and confocal microscope. Western blot analyses indicated that cells treated with VD846 resulted in reduced expression of Plk1 and RhoA, proteins that are necessary for cleavage furrow assembly and exit from cytokinesis.

The dearth of studies available examining the personality-performance relationship have raised criticisms about the predictive validity of personality assessment in recruitment and selection. The Employment Equity Act (Act No.55 of 1998) stipulates the use of scientifically proven, valid and realiable assessment instruments. This study investigated the validity of the Occupational Personality Questionnaire (OPQ 32i) as a valid predictor of job performance at a large financial services institution in South Africa. The extent to which specific personality dimensions could be correlated with job performance was determined. The sample participants comprised 132 employees, performing different roles, across different grade levels in the Administration and Finance job families. The performance rating was the criterion measure against which the predictive validity of the OPQ 32i was measured. This study produced low indices of validity between the criterion and the predictor. The OPQ 32i subscales produced high internal consistency, demonstrating the reliability of the OPQ 32i as an assessment tool. The results do not support previous findings of specific personality dimensions being valid predictors of performance across job categories. The numerous limitations have however highlighted implications for future research, particularly for the human resource performance appraisal process. The need for identification and measurement of specific personality dimensions during the performance appraisal has been suggested, as well as the use of more than one criterion measure to improve the reliability estimates of the criterion.

Les travaux portent sur l'alliage β-métastable Ti-10V-2Fe-3Al. L'objectif est d'évaluer les conséquences sur la tenue en fatigue de variations structurales rencontrées dans les pièces issues de forgeage, réalisées pour des applications du secteur aéronautique. L'analyse du comportement est réalisée dans le domaine de la fatigue oligocyclique, par le biais d'un modèle viscoplastique, et par l'approche physique proposée par Cottrell. Les deux méthodes conduisent à l'interprétation du comportement macroscopique en termes de contraintes internes représentant les incompatibilités de déformation, et de contrainte effective traduisant les interactions à courte distance, dans le matériau. L'adoucissement cyclique macroscopique de l'alliage est porte par ces deux composantes de la contrainte. La corrélation avec les phénomènes microstructuraux est réalisée à l'aide de la microscopie électronique par transmission permettant l'analyse des modes de déformation qui sont confines dans la phase alpha primaire. Le comportement est ainsi associé au phénomène d'annihilation de dislocations facilité par le glissement dévié et a l'homogénéisation progressive de l'écoulement dans la microstructure. Les processus d'apparition du dommage sont observés en microscopie électronique à balayage, sur des échantillons sollicités en fatigue oligocyclique et en endurance. Les fissures se forment systématiquement en surface, aux interfaces entre les particules alpha primaire et la matrice bêta transformée. Les résultats permettent de déterminer et de caractériser l'influence de la microstructure sur l'amorçage des fissures de fatigue. Ceci a par ailleurs été modélisé et analyse par éléments finis. L'apparition du dommage est fortement influencée par le comportement plastique de la phase alpha primaire et par l'état local d'incompatibilités de déformation. Le travail conclut sur l'évaluation d'une possible mise en relation entre la durée de vie en fatigue et l'état de contraintes internes dans le matériau.

Forensic science attempts to answer questions such as “who”, “what”, “when”, and “how” events and/or individuals are involved in accordance to an offence. The forensic examiner specialised in BPA attempts to answer the “how” in regards to bloodletting events. In violent circumstances the most prevalent physical evidence type found is bloodstains and bloodstain patterns. BPA attempts to reconstruct the series of physical events, including altercations, which created bloodstain patterns at a scene. By understanding the concepts which determine the shape of bloodstains as well as through the use of trigonometric equations that determine the 3D spatial origin from which bloodstain patterns were created, physical events can then be recreated. This literature review converges the literature surrounding BPA from the widely accepted approach to investigating a scene from a BPA perspective, principles that are the basis of BPA, future techniques that may be implemented when investigating a scene, small bloodstains, factors that affect bloodstain formation and lastly a proposition for a research project focusing on the effectiveness of small bloodstains in area of origin determination. Building upon the foundation of knowledge as well as knowledge gained from experimentation within this area can enhance the accuracy of techniques currently in use by BPA specialists. Also, the formation of new techniques suited for small bloodstains and/or the creation of specialised technology that can utilise small bloodstains will create a paradigm shift in the genre of bloodstain analysis.

Abstract:
The use of bloodstain pattern analysis (BPA) in reconstruction of bloodletting events has become a critical and integral part of many criminal investigations and court cases. In instances where a bloodstain pattern is created due to external forces being applied to a source of blood, an impact spatter pattern is created. Traditionally, BPA analysts have followed a rigid protocol for selection of bloodstains used in these reconstruction events in attempts to lessen sources of error that directly impact area of convergence (AOC) and area of origin (AOO) calculations. One such selection criteria is bloodstain size; bloodstains that have a length (l) between 3mm and 8mm are considered useful for reconstruction determinations. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of small (l<3mm) bloodstains in AOO determinations in comparison to the accepted industry standard and identify the involvement of impact angles in these calculations. Bloodstain impact angles and AOO calculations were conducted using the Microsoft® Office Excel 2003 Auto Shape program and tangent method respectively. Bloodstain size was found to have no impact on X (p-value=0.906), Y (p-value=0.262) and Z (p-value=0.688) co-ordinates for AOO determinations and decreasing angles of impact showed no correlation to deviation from the actual AOO.

Les métallurgistes d'ArcelorMittal développent actuellement une nouvelle génération d'aciers " flat carbon" dédiés principalement au domaine automobile (aciers Dual- Phase ou DP). Afin d'augmenter la performance des aciers au carbone, ArcelorMittal développe une stratégie de production intelligente basée sur un contrôle non destructif en ligne de production en utilisant le capteur 3MA (Multi-Parameter Micro-Magnetic Microstructure and Stress Analyzis). Ce système a été développé par l'Institut Fraunhôfer IZFP ; il est dédié à divers domaines d'applications de contrôle non destructifs des aciers en ligne. L'objectif principal de cette recherche est de simuler le comportement magnétique du dispositif industriel 3MA via la méthode des éléments finis. La modélisation du système (dispositif CND et échantillon) présente des difficultés au niveau du maillage et du temps de calcul surtout avec la mise en œuvre du modèle d'hystérésis. En effet, le système présente une géométrie multi échelles spatiale et temporelle. Afin de palier à ces problèmes, une stratégie de calcul a été développée et validée en 2D, en séparant calcul haute fréquence (HF) et basse fréquence (LF). Cette méthode permet d'effectuer des calculs en plusieurs fois et prend moins d'espace mémoire. Le modèle d'hystérésis de Jiles-Atherton a été choisi pour sa précision et a été implémenté dans le code FEM Flux afin de décrire le comportement magnétique du matériau. Les résultats obtenus sont en accord avec les données expérimentales.

Abstract:
This study is an initial attempt to investigate the possibility of substituting conventional laboratory destructive testing techniques at Sandvik's strip steel production facilities with the 3MA (Micro-magnetic Multi-parameter Microstructure and Stress Analysis) NDT (nondestructive testing) technique. The interest for the research comes from various problems with the actual destructive testing method. Sandvik manufactures thin strip steel (among other products) and controls the quality of its product by taking samples from the ends of the strip and measuring the sample's material properties in a separate laboratory. Hence, the sample preparation process is time and material consuming, and the results obtained from the laboratory measurements are not always representative of the real values along the whole length of the strip (usually several kilometers). Therefore, the present project involves the correlation between three material properties (Vickers hardness, tensile strength and carbide density) and a selection of micro-magnetic parameters measured with the 3MA-II equipment manufactured by the Fraunhofer IZFP institute. The 3MA-II system is based on four measuring techniques (harmonic analysis, magnetic Barkhausen noise, incremental permeability and Eddy current testing) and is capable of recording up to 41 micro-magnetic parameters. Samples of two different steel grades (composition) were used in the study. The results for hardness and tensile strength (average relative errors of 1.04% and 0.78%, respectively) corroborated the applicability of the 3MA technique to steel strip inspection. Thus, the implementation of this technique would lead to an improvement in the company's energy efficiency and sustainability. However, finding a good correlation between micromagnetic parameters and material properties is not always possible and, in the case of carbide density, no reliable correlation was achieved. So, further experiments are proposed for future studies regarding carbide density and other material properties.

Abstract: The present Master thesis broaches the issue of market segmentation and its importance for the Industry and Transportation department of 3M Česko. Market segmentation has been recognized to be a very important tool for strategic marketing planning but currently, its implementation at 3M in the Czech Republic is in an early stage and therefore rather unorganized and not yet framed by precise guidelines. The hypothesis is that linking together need-based and descriptive customer behavior characteristics would lead to more effective market segmentation within the 3M Industry and Transportation department. Therefore, the goal of this paper is to first of all test if the hypothesis is right and if so develop a segmentation method that combines descriptive as well as need-based segmentation criteria. It is to be shown that such an approach could improve segmentation efforts at 3M Česko and lead to more reliable results. The question that arises is whether 3M has understood the benefits market segmentation can bring for the company. And what has to be done in order to improve clustering of customers and to increase 3M's sales volume? Can segmentation take place on one level or is a multi-layer approach the better option? The present study tries to answer these questions by comparing theoretical findings from an extensive literature review with results obtained from semistructured interviews with 3M sales and marketing managers. Above all, one of the main points for improvement in the future is the collection of more market data and the combination of primary data with secondary information already available. The interviews have shown that even though managers are aware of the difficulty to understand 3M's complex and broad market, the feeling predominates that not enough effort is put into gathering additional information. Furthermore, it is recommended to perform descriptive segmentation through the usage of industry coding on a division-wide level, whereas need-based segmentation will be subject of each division individually. Moreover, keeping track of customer data in a standardized database is the key to success. The given recommendations are divided into actions that can be undertaken in the short, medium and long run in order to reach a department-wide effective and efficient use of the multi-layer segmentation in an organized and timely manner.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with output power calibration of a mobile platform that supports EGPRS.Two different topics are examined. First some different measurement methods are compared concerning cost efficiency, accuracy, and speed and later measurements are carried out on a mobile platform.

The output power from the mobile platform is controlled by three parameters and the influence on the output power when varying those parameters is investigated and presented. Furthermore, two methods of improving the speed of the calibration are presented.

The first one aims to decrease the number of bursts to average over as much as possible. The conclusion is that 10-20 bursts are enough for GMSK modulation and about five bursts for 8PSK modulation. The purpose of the second investigation is to examine the possibility to measure the output power in one modulation and frequency band, and then calculate the output power in the other bands. The conclusion in this case is that, based on the units investigated, it is possible for some values of the parameters and in some frequency bands. However, more units need to be included in the basic data for decision-making and it is possible that the hardware variation is too large.
