Abstract:

(5,10,15,20-Tetrakis(4-(4-carboxyphenycarbonoimidoyl)phenyl)porphyrinato) chloro gallium(III) (complex 1) was conjugated to platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs) (represented as 1-PtNPs). The resulting conjugate showed 18 nm red shift in the Soret band when compared to 1 alone. Complex 1 and 1-PtNPs showed promising photodynamic antimicrobial chemotherapy (PACT) activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Candida albicans in solution where the log reductions obtained were 4.92, 3.76, and 3.95, respectively for 1-PtNPs. Abstract:

Two copolyesters were prepared in the melt from terephthalic acid, 1,4- phenylenediacetic acid, 2-chlo~ 1,4-phenylenediacetate and CXCX -diacetoxy-I ,4- phenylene. Neither polymer is observed to exhibit liquid crystalline properties. Polymer I has an inherent viscosity of O.39g/dl while polymer 2 has an inherent viscosity of O.64g/dl. The Thermal properties of both polymers are obtained. This thesis focuses on the asymmetric reduction of N-protected derivatives of (3S)-3-amino-1-chloro-4-phenyl-2-butanone to their corresponding diastereomeric alcohol products, which are key intermediates in the synthesis of HIV protease inhibitors. Although the stereoselective synthesis of the (S,S) alcohol product is easily achieved, preparing the (R,S) diastereomer is much more challenging. 6H-1,2-Oxazines were functionalised at the C-C double bond by 1,3-dipolar cycloadditions and halogenation reactions. The reactions were carried out with 6-ethoxy-3-phenyl-6H-1,2-oxazine, 6-ethoxy-3-ethoxycarbonyl-6H-1,2-oxazine and 6-ethoxy-3-trifluoromethyl-6H-1,2-oxazine. The cycloadditions of 6H-1,2-oxazines were performed with nitrile oxides, nitrile imines, nitrile ylides, diazoalkanes, azomethine ylides and a nitrone. High diastereoselectivity was observed, induced by the steric hindrance of the ethoxy group at the 6H-1,2-oxazines. The cycloadditions occur with high regioselectivity. In

Le dédoublement par cristallisation préférentielle de dérivés 5-alkyl-5-alkylhydantoïnes : 5-éthyl-5-méthylhydantoïne (12H), et des dérivés 5-méthyl-5-(4-Xphényl)hydantoïnes : X = méthyle (17H), chloro (pCl61H), méthoxy (pMeO61H) et bromo (pBr61H) est réalisé selon le procédé auto-ensemencé AS3PC à une échelle de 35mL puis étendu à 2 litres pour les dérivés 12H et pBr61H. Le suivi de l'évolution de la population de particules pendant la cristallisation permet de conclure que l'effet d'entraînement n'est pas le fait d'un mécanisme unique.
