Full textThe purpose of this document is to improve inventory management processes and food processing at a restaurant in the region of Ancash by applying the 5S methodology and using specific indicators for the location and type of work. All this was achieved with the implementation of the menu engineering methodology, which consists basically of forecasts, linear programming, long-term orders, and inventory management. The proper operation of the new processes was experimentally validated. First, the main results were that the use of approximately 4.30 m2 of the work space allocated to unnecessary activities within the work area was optimized, increasing the number of processes that a worker can perform without moving more than 1 m from their work position. Despite the many studies existing on the methodology implemented, there is scarce material that focuses on its application in restaurants, as it is normally developed in industrial areas.

Full textThis research aims to analyze the results obtained from the simulation of the TPM in rubber industry in Peru. According to SUNAT, the rubber industry in Peru contributed 12% of the internal taxes during 2019. Also, the rubber production sector is covered by SMEs that carry out their work in an artisanal way. However, there are companies, specifically in the production of balloons, that have a relevant participation in rubber sector. Usually, they experience problems in their capacity of production. It is worth mentioning that several factors contribute to that problem, such as defective products and the presence of inoperative times which are presented by an inadequate maintenance management of machinery. This research was born out of the need to eliminate these problems and optimize their processes and achieve a competitive advantage. This article presents a maintenance management model based on successful cases in developing countries. Likewise, a maintenance management model based on Lean Manufacturing tools such as the TPM and 5S is proposed. Arena simulation was an important tool to validate proposals. According to the results, it is possible to reduce unproductive times in 10% and non-conforming products in 6%. In addition, OEE has been increased in 15% and capacity in 10%. It can be affirmed that the TPM is a powerful tool that allows generating competitive advantages

The implementation of lean techniques in the Portuguese Air Force, specifically in the F-16 supply chain, was a success due to the reduction in the budget of €1.5M to support the F-16 weapons system. Since 2010, the maintenance of F-16 aircraft at Air Base No. 5, started to use the Kanban system, which led to an optimization in repair processes. Due to a digitalization of processes, this project aims to study the incorporation of artificial intelligence in lean techniques. According to F-16 supply chain, this project divides in three steps. The first one is about stock leveling to obtain a greater knowledge of the behavior of materials through the definition of key performance indicators. The second and third step are defined by creation of a control dashboard with artificial intelligence. Finally, it's defined an action plan for the implementation of the 5S methodology, which is also incorporated with artificial intelligence.

"Modelo integrado de Lean Manufacturing con Gestión de Inventarios para reducir el inventario y scrap generado en el sector de acabados de construcción." Bachelor's thesis, Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC), 2021. http://hdl.handle.net/10757/654544.
Full textThis document focuses on reducing the inventory and scrap generated throughout the production process of companies in the construction finishing sector. Because this excess negatively impacts profitability due to the high inventory costs incurred. Therefore, the main motivation for this research is to propose improvement plans for companies in the sector and thus increase their profitability. Previous research addresses these issues independently, so that the contribution of this paper is to study both problems in this rarely analyzed sector. To do this, a model integrating the tools of Lean Manufacturing: 5'S and Kaizen Standardization, with Planning and Inventory Management was proposed. With which it was possible to reduce the inventory and scraps in a SME of the sector by 10% and increase the reuse of sheets and scrap from 51.44% to 60.70%. Thus, it is demonstrated that the combination of these tools mitigate the problem.

Full textIn this study, the causes of copper losses were investigated in an electric conductor manufacturing company located in the city of Lima, Peru. This problem caused the production costs to increase because more raw material was needed than necessary. In addition, the excessive growth of the company generated that the areas are not properly planned and there are extensive routes in production, increasing production time and material handling. Similarly, the company did not have adequate controls to measure the amount of copper used in each area, so when selling the retailer there was a loss of approximately 30%. The proposed solutions were the distribution of the plant that will be transferred to the Lurin district in 2020, the implementation of the 5S and the incorporation of production controls in all areas of the company. For this, a simulation was performed in the Arena software where the results obtained were that the production time was reduced by 16%. Similarly, the economic validation showed that the proposed proposals generate a favorable return on investment for the company.

Bachelor's thesis, Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC), 2020. http://hdl.handle.net/10757/654476.
Full textThe graphic industry in Peru grew in a 20% in comparison with the past year. However, since it is composed mostly by small and medium businesses, they have an issue regarding the orders fulfillment. On average a 37% of the companies from the graphic industry fail to deliver their orders on schedule. This study focuses in a company that has been suffering a reduction in their profit margins from 17% to 5% in two years. This was related to an operating cost increase associated with order unfulfillments. The order unfulfillment’s motives are the presence of unproductive time and the unavailability of raw materials to begin with the production. The root causes of the identified problem are a layout deficiency and the presence of delays caused by a disorder in the production area. The study proposes the implementation of a pilot plan for the 5S methodology and SLP for the mentioned causes. The pilot plan applies Seiri, Seiton and Seiso. Shitsuke and Seiketsu were developed in a conceptual level. In addition, a new plan layout and process flow was developed after the implementation of SLP. The study concludes that with the implementation of the proposed model a 31.6% reduction in the cycle time, as well as a 21.7% reduction in moving distances were achieved. Finally, a 65% improvement in the orders fulfillment is accomplished.

Full textThe textile and garment sector is one of the sectors with the highest expectations of sustainable growth in the industry and one of the sectors with the highest competition with other countries in the international sector. This sector covers different types of processes, ranging from fiber treatment, spinning, weaving and confection. The present analysis falls on the low availability that presents the equipment in the process of dyeing. This process is measured from the reprocesses that exist due to the execution of corrective maintenance, which affects the production of fabric dyeing. Likewise, it is possible to evaluate the average time between failures (MTBF) and the average repair time (MTTR), which indicates the variability below the target expected by the organization. On the other hand, in the third chapter the improvement proposal is developed from the development of the state of art of the first chapter. For this, the methodology to be followed is proposed according to a combination of RCM and TPM. Under this methodology, different activities and strategies are developed to detect critical equipment and implement mechanical and electrical preventive maintenance plans. In addition, the implementation of a maintenance based on (predictive) and autonomous condition is included as part of this system. Finally, the third chapter ends with the support of the 5 '' S '' methodology and the economic evaluation based on the cost structure planned by the project. Finally, chapter four presents the validation of the improvement proposal based on the validation of the results in the Arena software. This allows concluding that the MTTR and MTBF indicators have achieved the objectives presented in the proposal.

Full textThe purpose of this research project is to minimize several problems in the Peruvian textile sector, which have a direct impact on profitability and competitiveness at the national and international level. Therefore, textile companies consider that, to face these problems, engineering techniques and methodologies should be applied with the objective of improving the level of service, reducing production costs, eliminating waste and improving product quality. The export of textile products has followed a variable path during the last decade, since it has presented unpredictable behaviors, registering a decrease in exported monetary value as of 2015. One of the causes that has originated this event is the price factor in the foreign market, which has brought consequently that large textile importers opt for the service of more flexible and competitive companies worldwide. The main impact on the Peruvian textile sector is the loss of market share for Peruvian companies, resulting in a reduction in the GDP that contributes to the economy. A pilot implementation was carried out taking into consideration the PDCA cycle. The results obtained in the key indicators were as follows: increase in the profit margin by 1.5%, reduction in noncompliance of dyed fabric by 4%, reduction in noncompliance of prescriptions by 10%, decrease in the level of reprocessing equivalent to 4%, and reduction in the delivery of garments with penalties by 14%. The development of the project is justified by the need to increase the company's competitiveness in the market with respect to delivery times, service level, service quality and operational costs in order to increase profitability and sustainability over time.

Full textThis research analyzes high unproductive times generated in the manufacturing process of metal structures. The production process includes welding, beveling and transfer activities to the assembly area, which were identified as the most critical, because these activities generate a greater number of unproductive times. This is generated by several factors, among which are the lack of order and cleanliness in the various workstations, and the absence of mechanisms to control the company's production. For this reason, a proposal was developed to improve the brick drying mesh manufacturing process using Lean Manufacturing tools such as Kanban and 5'S to reduce downtime and increase the company's profitability With this purpose, a constant investigation of the existing literature regarding the methodology used was carried out, in order to find the best alternative that allows to provide a solution to the identified problem. The results obtained shows a 62% reduction in the non-productive time generated in the current process. Finally, to determine the viability of the presented proposal, the NPV and IRR indicators were calculated. On the other hands, the simulation of the new system was carried out to validate the results obtained with respect to the reduction of the unproductive times generated.

Full textOne of the main problems in manufacturing companies is the high rate of reprocesses, due to the high frequency of machine breakdowns, their long repair times and the lack of a maintenance plan. Over time, many authors have presented various maintenance strategies that seek to manage scheduled jobs more efficiently. However, these are not always as effective as they are not applied properly, resources are not available, or the strategy is not aimed at solving the problem directly. This research proposes a proposal for a total productive maintenance management plan based on OEE, 5S, TPM and SMED methodologies in order to ensure greater machine reliability, reduce setup time and reduce the reprocessing rates presented in a company in the non-primary manufacturing sector. Finally, the tools are implemented gradually, solving the main problem, through the reduction of reprocesses, losses and thus improving the use of machines.

Full textThis project aims to provide a proposal for improvement to warehouse management for a logistics operator in the city, with the aim of increasing productivity. To do this, the receiving, inventory management and picking processes were analyzed; which allowed us to investigate the most assertive tool and methodology for the sector. Within the relevant information previously studied by other authors, the 5s methodology, inventory flow and Kanban were identified as tools with potential benefits on warehouse management. However, no specific information was found on the logistics sector. Because of which, a simulation of the activities of the mentioned tools was carried out and as a result of the investigation it was possible to increase inventory accuracy to 95% and reduce operating costs by 18%.In this way, the company's gross margin increased by approximately 317,250.57 soles, most of which were penalties for non-compliance or loss of merchandise. In fact, it is found that inventory management within a logistics operator is extremely important and is the one that has the greatest impact, since it is the basis for maintaining the stability of the company and satisfied customers in terms of operator confidence. It should be noted that the need to increase productivity is focused on being able to reduce all unnecessary activity within the company process.

Full textMicro, small and medium-sized companies represent 99.5% of the total number of companies nationwide and are the economic engine, generating 8.4 million jobs. However, they have a low survival rate of 67.5% and only 20% have a business plan before starting their operations. In addition, they face other problems such as the lack of planning and improvement of production processes. Thus, the lack of standardization of work in production processes causes losses for the company due to the generation of waste, unproductive times, and reprocessing. For this reason, a work standardization model was designed applying Lean Manufacturing tools in order to reduce waste and increase productivity. For its elaboration, the models proposed by Cesar J. and Sharma SS were taken as a basis. The validation of the model was carried out in a snack-producing Mype, of which the initial diagnosis identified as main problems the generation of waste and unnecessary displacements due to the variation of the working method used by the operator and an inadequate plant layout. After the application of the model, the losses of the production process were reduced by 59.58%, maintenance downtime was reduced by 50.88% and productivity was increased to 74.4%, concluding that the proposed model reduces waste and increases productivity.

Full textIn Peru, one of the most important links in the production chain is the metalworking sector, due to the contribution to national GDP of 16.5% and the generation of millions of jobs. However, recent statistical studies have shown that Peruvian metalworking companies have a production capacity of 40.6%, mainly due to operational deficiencies such as low availability of machines, high setup times and production waste. The projected demand cannot be satisfied and the income to the country cannot be generated because of this problem. Therefore, this research offers a solution by applying an operational efficiency model, which combines Lean Manufacturing tools, such as SMED, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and 5s on the Kaizen methodology. There are inputs and output in the model like production data, indicators, support techniques and new procedures. The model was validated in a metalworking company, where the OEE was improved by 8%, set up time was reduced by 21% and the rate of defective products in process was decreased by 20%. This new industrial solution will allow companies in the metalworking sector to be more competitive in the market and change to their different needs.

Full textThe main objective of this research carried out is to optimize the delivery times of light vehicle repairs in a car rental company. For this, the Lean Service methodology was applied, whose tools and methods will allow to deploy a proposal for a solid, scientific solution applied to the current problems mentioned above. First, the bibliographic review was performed, citing scientific sources and articles that support and endorse the research. Then, the analysis of the current problems and determination of causes was carried out, for this, industrial engineering methods and tools were applied to determine the root causes of the problem, which were linked to the company's methods. As a consequence of this analysis, the hypothesis is formulated that the application of the Lean Service, through the 5S, Standardization, TPM and Layout Redistribution tools, will mitigate the operational and economic impact of the main problem, which is the delay in deliveries of vehicle repairs at the company's mechanical workshop. Said hypothesis is the subject of study in the next chapter, where, in the first place, it is maintained that the Lean Service is the proposal for improvement that best fits the description and nature of the present investigation; and then properly deploy the methodology itself. This deployment was carried out through the application of the Lean Service tools mentioned above, structured under a proposal design based on the PDCA cycle (Plan, Do, Check, Act). Finally, for the verification and verification of the problem, a simulation of the proposal was carried out through software, where it was verified that, effectively, after the application of the proposal, it would be possible to reduce delivery times. In addition, an economic evaluation of the proposal was carried out to verify the viability of the project, thus supporting the present investigation.

Full textCurrently, an exponential growth in demand has been diagnosed in the food industry, in all items belonging to this sector. One of these is the baking industry, in which the main reason for development, growth and change are the demands of customers linked to criteria such as reduced prices, increased quality, variety of products, among other variables that a company must have. in account to be competitive in the sector, and in turn maintain a level of profitability and contribution margin. For this, it is essential to have a correct planning of each process considering with equal importance both the production process and those adjacent to it. These processes are linked to the purchase of raw materials in quality, price or reception times, the precise calculation of the demand forecast and the correct inventory management that are essential to ensure a quality final product available to the customer. This article proposes a new model that is based on the use of the lean approach and combined techniques to achieve a competitive management of the processes mentioned above. For this, the joint use of tools such as supplier approval, MRP, economic materials purchase lot (EOQ) and standardization of the work process is proposed, to improve the problems related to defective production due to poor material management which amounts to a current rate of 11.43%. After the implementation of the proposal, a reduction of approximately 58% was obtained in support of the effectiveness of the method and its corroboration to continuous improvement with a simulation, verifying the results.

To eliminate the mentioned factor, it is first necessary to identify it.That said, the objective of this work is fundamentally to increase the efficiency of storage operations such as picking, increase the productivity of operations and reduce the costs involved in their management, through the survey of the main problems in the flow of materials, from their unloading from the warehouse to the supply on the assembly line, through a process of active observation and monitoring in the field. Subsequently, a detailed analysis of the problems will be carried out and, finally, proposals for improvement will be presented. As a result, several improvements were achieved in the warehouse, highlighting the liberation of space in the warehouse of items through the identification and reduction of the physical stock of obsolete items, implementation of visual management and implementation of the 5S methodology.
