Abstract:
The book focuses on the editorial fortune of and on the imaginary built by sixteenth-century European lay and missionary sources on Japan. The author examines the cultural and economic processes that led to the circulation, or, in some cases, the lack of circulation of the sources. By exploring the interplay, in their contents, between ‘factuality’ and ‘myth’, between ‘classical imagery’ and ‘current observation’, she investigates the way their depiction of ‘Japan’ reflects ‘European’ self-images and desires. Finally, using the Italian editorial world – dominating the European book market at that time – as a case study, the author analyses the published sources from the perspective of historical bibliography, evaluating their impact on the readership.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Iberian Studies have developed in the last quarter of a century to the point of making one speak of a real Iberian Turn. Starting from the rejection of the classic scheme that places the two states (Portugal and Spain) as privileged agents of the representation of the Iberian space, the proposal of the Iberian Studies is to work on the system of historical exchanges and interferences that have shaped the cultural fabric of the peninsula, investigating both the points of connection as much as those of the fracture between its different realities (such as the Basque, Catalan and Galician ones, as well as the Castilian and Lusitanian ones). Accompanied by a “Reasoned Bibliography on Iberian Studies and Iberian Studies from Italy”, this volume examines the state of the art, with particular attention to the Italian context, in which these researches show a still unequal rooting and diffusion. A first section, dedicated to a general framework of the discipline and the exposition of theoretical issues and method problems, is followed by a second that presents critical contributions that address individual case studies. Born in part as a reaction to the so-called “crisis of Hispanism”, Iberian Studies offer themselves as an alternative to the traditional model of peninsular Hispanism, to its uninational and monolingual paradigm. They also place the emphasis on diversity and the relational aspect, looking with suspicion at every hegemonic design aimed at establishing a “centre” within a heterogeneous cultural landscape. Attentive to the phenomena of immigration and linguistic minorities, to the colonial past and relations with the Latin American world, but also to the themes of comparativism, translation, theory and the rethinking of criticism, Iberian Studies are a field in which not only debates about literature and the arts are included, but also about ideology.

Abstract:
This research stems from the need of the Italian Cultural Institute to map the institutions involved in teaching Italian in the area considered and to analyse the quality of the teaching and learning process of the Italian language. The objectives are multiple and linked to the importance of finding the causes that slow the growth of the study of Italian in Japanese Kansai. Therefore, the first part of this action research will outline the cultural and linguistic education coordinates that characterize the Japanese context; in the second part, the research data will be interpreted in order to trace new methodological development trajectories to increase the quality of the Italian teaching process in Kansai.Part 1 This part focuses on the situation of foreign language teaching in Japan. It also describes the strategies to promote the teaching of the Italian language in Japan from 1980 to now. 1 Modern Language Policy in Japan Between Past and Present This first chapter describes linguistic policy for the promotion of foreign languages in Japan by the Ministry of Education (MEXT). 2 Japanese Educational System Focus of this chapter are the cultural, pedagogical and linguistic education characteristics of the context under investigation. 3 Teaching Italian Language in Japan The purpose of this chapter is to outline the general frame of the spreading of the Italian cultural model in a traditional Japanese context. Part 2In the second part the action research and the training project design are described. 4 The Action-Research Project This chapter describes the overall design of the research and the research questions that inspired an investigation in the context under study. The aim is to understand whether there is a link between the methodological choices of the teachers and the difficulties in learning Italian for Japanese students. Part 3 In this third part, the situation of teaching Italian in relation to different learning contexts in Japanese Kansai will be examined. 5 A Case Study at Italian Culture Institute in Osaka The goals of this chapter are to analyse the problems of teaching Italian at the IIC and suggest methodological improvement paths for teachers of Italian language at IIC. 6 A Case Study at Osaka University The data obtained by the informants will be used to analyse the situation of the teaching of Italian at Department of Italian language of this university and suggest curricular and methodological improvements to increase the quality of teaching and learning Italian. 7 A Case Study at Kyoto Sangyo University The chapter outlines the methodological and technical characteristics used to teach Italian at Kyoto Sangyo University and suggests strategies aimed at enhancing students’ language learning.

Abstract:
The recent emergence of ‘Iberian Studies’ requires a crucial reflection on the challenges and potentialities associated with this area. This volume intends to contribute to methodological renewal and compiles essays that explore possibilities of analysis over the Iberian space and related phenomena. It offers a plural framework of theoretical references and perspectives, in which the challenges posed by Basque, Catalan and Galician cases are especially focused. Thereby, this book is a valuable tool for reading the current situation and for developing a new critical thinking about this object of study.

Full text
Abstract:
The monograph is a comprehensive study of the current practice of resolving cases on determining the place of residence of children, the procedure for communicating with them separately living parents and other relatives; restriction and deprivation of parental rights; on the departure of children outside the Russian Federation and return within the framework of the Convention on Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction of 1980, the Convention on Jurisdiction, Applicable Law, Recognition and Enforcement and Cooperation in relation to Parental Responsibility and Measures for the Protection of children of 1996.The relations that develop between the child and parents, the child and the court, parents and the court, as well as parents as parties to the process are analyzed. The central place is occupied by the study of the content of the concept of the best interests of the child as a guarantee of the protection of his rights and the vector of development of the current legislation. The cases of abuse of parental rights and improper performance (or non-performance) of parental duties, illustrated by current judicial practice, are considered. The analysis is presented: measures of family legal responsibility, including restriction and deprivation of parental rights in connection with non-execution of a court decision on the upbringing of a child; features of the application of principle 6 of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in resolving disputes about the place of residence of children; the possibility of taking interim measures in disputes between parents about upbringing; the ratio of legal and psychological categories in child-parent relations in order to apply special knowledge; the procedure for conducting forensic examinations in these categories of cases. Finally, the possibilities of out-of-court settlement of some family disputes, including through mediation, are investigated.
For a wide range of readers interested in the rights of the child. It will be useful for students, postgraduates and teachers of law schools.
