To determine the benefit of a 4-week incubation for mycology cultures, we evaluated all positive cultures during the fourth week of incubation in a 1-year period. Of 3,855 positive mycology cultures (yeast, 82%; molds, 18%), 62 (1.6%) were positive during the fourth week (yeast, 42%; molds, 58%). Only 15 of the 62 cultures (24%) were considered clinically relevant (2 isolates from invasive fungal infection and 13 isolates from cutaneous mycosis). With the exception of those from skin samples, isolates recovered during the fourth week are rarely important for patient care.

Проаналізовані результати оперативного лікування 418 хворих з приводу ускладненого місцево–поширеного раку шлунка (РШ). Перебіг основного захворювання ускладнений кровотечею – у 252 (60,3%) пацієнтів, стенозом – у 89 (21,3%), перфорацією – у 15 (3,5%), їх поєднанням – у 62 (14,8%). Радикальні операції виконані у 168 (40,2%) хворих, паліативні та симптоматичні – у 250 (59,8%). Після операції ускладнення виникли у 82 (19,6%) хворих, післяопераційна летальність становила 7,2% (померли 30 хворих).

AbstractEleven artificial infections of oribatid mites of the genusScheloribates with Moniezia expansa eggs were made. The percentage of surviving mites in the infected groups was lower (62 to 82%) than in the uninfected control group (90%). None of oribatids with cysticercoids in their body cavity contained mite eggs. The established prevalence and average cysticercoid number in surviving mites were 50.00 to 95.12% and 1.3 to 2.8 respectively.
