Abstract:
ImportanceFruit drinks are widely consumed by young children, and many parents mistakenly believe that these drinks are healthy, potentially due to front-of-package claims and imagery. Research is needed on the influence of this marketing and how labeling regulations could change behavior.ObjectiveTo assess the effects of a front-of-package 100% vitamin C claim, fruit imagery, percentage juice and teaspoons of added sugar disclosures, and high–added sugar warnings on parents’ choices, knowledge, and perceptions of beverages.Design, Setting, and ParticipantsThis randomized clinical trial was co

Background:Ocular involvement in sarcoidosis can be present in up to 80% of patients. If not treated, it can lead to significant visually complications (1-5).Objectives:Our aim was to assess the main a) epidemiology and b) clinical features of ocular sarcoidosis in a wide and unselected series from a single university hospital. Methods:Study of a large cohort (n=384) of all consecutive patients diagnosed with sarcoidosis from January 1, 1999 to December 31, 2019. Finally, 344 patients were included according to the ATS/ERS/WASOG criteria (Eur Respir J. 1999;14:735-7).Results:65 (33 men/32 women

Abstract:
ImportanceOral mucositis (OM) is a common and debilitating adverse effect observed in patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) receiving radiation therapy (RT). Previous studies examining associations between OM and clinical outcomes were performed in the era of 3-dimensional conformal RT planning with low rates of concurrent chemotherapy, and thus may not reflect current practice.ObjectiveTo prospectively assess patient-reported OM and identify its associations with clinical outcomes and quality of life.Design, Setting, and ParticipantsThis cohort study performed at a single institution inclu

Abstract:
Mulberry (Morus alba L.) is an excellent fruit tree species, which is widely planted all over China. In April 2023, a white fruit disease was observed on Mulberry plants in Hunan Province (27°22'13.80"N, 112°1'32.19"E), China. The disease incidence was nearly 50% in a surveyed area of 2000 m2, which contained nearly 400 plants. Symptoms appeared on the fruit, which was grayish white, with dark brown spots on the surface, and the small fruit core was dehydrated. A total of 20 symptomatic samples were randomly collected. Abstract BACKGROUND AND AIMS Conventional haemodialysis (HD) with low-flux membranes does not provide adequate middle molecular weight (MMW) clearance of uremic toxins [1]. The potential for better removal of parathyroid hormone (PTH) and β2-microglobulin (β2M) was investigated using a combination of low-flux HD and haemoperfusion (HP) (HD + HP). METHOD A total of 16 stable HD male patients, free of infections, malignancies or haematological disorders, under usual medications for anaemia and hyperparathyroidism, treated with low-flux polysulfone membranes, were randomized into two groups: grou
