This paper reports on an empirical study aimed at elucidating reasons for success in the implementation of strategic decisions by 7–Eleven in Thailand. The 7–Eleven convenience store is a business format franchising operation, which includes the product or service, the brand name or trademark, and the operating system developed by the franchisor and it has experienced significant growth. The Charoen Pokphand (CP) All Public Company Limited (PCL) is the operator of the 7-Eleven convenience stores in Thailand and it has been involved, therefore, with creating opportunities in the franchise system for that market. Potential franchisors have staff trained and support provided for all aspects of their businesses. To have better chances for success, 7-Eleven needs to evaluate itself in order to improve its systems. People are one key success factor in the franchise business, particularly in terms of the representative of the franchisor, who as an agent of the company reflects the company’s image. For the company to achieve sustainable growth, emphasis should be placed on organizational and human resource development. Both parties in the business must provide high levels of cooperation to each other. The franchise business is a special relationship in which the parties can mutually share the benefits.

Background: Arthur F. Carmazzi discovered new way of identifying the human brain’s clarity based on the foundations of genetic neurosciences. The specific terminology of “Ambiguity Relief” was used to refer to the human brain’s processing that supports evaluating information to relate new context to existing knowledge, simplifying ideas, making decisions, and problem solving into actionable elements. Aim and Objective: This study identified the relationship between brain processing indicator and communication of financial officers in Thailand by using the Colored Brain Communication Inventory. Materials and Methods: Fifty participants were involved in this study. All participants were assessed by using the Colored Brain Communication Inventory developed by Arthur F. Carmazzi. Results: All participants were thirty-one males (62%) and nineteen females (38%). There were eleven persons worked as Manager, considered 25%. Nine participants worked as Director and seven participants worked as Deputy Director and Senior Manager were about 18%, 14%, and 14%, respectively. Five participants worked as Senior Director were in the amount of 10% of all the participants while two participants worked as Senior Officer and Officer were 4% and 4%, respectively. Of the fifty participants, the highest number of 28 participants (56%) were reported as Green Brain Processing while 12 participants (24%) were reported as Purple Brain Processing. The less of 7 participants (14%) were reported as Red Brain Processing while only 3 participants (6%) were reported as Blue Brain Processing, respectively. Conclusion: This study is the first study to explore the effects of brain processing indicator and communication on the leadership and working environment by using Colored Brain Communication Inventory tool in Thailand. By adopting conceptual and hypotheses of Colored Brain model, any awareness by participants might help their team members adopt a cooperation attitude instead of trying to change others beyond their own processes which creating frustration on both sides.

Background: Hepatic hydrothorax occurs 6-10% of advance cirrhotic patient. If we can diagnosed quickly and accurately, it can present the patients from unnecessary investigations and early start correct treatment. Objective: To evaluate the results of using 99mTc-MAA peritoneal scintigraphy for demonstrate peritoneo-pleural communication in the patients with suspected hepatic hydrothorax. Material and Method: Descriptive retrospective study. Collected and analized data of the cirrhotic patients who was investigated by 99mTc-MAA peritoneal scintigraphy in nuclear medicine section , Rajavithi hospital , Thailand from 2005-2012. Results: Eleven patients were identified, 7 male and 4 female average age 52.55 years. Most common cause of cirrhosis was viral hepatitis C (45%) and almost all (10/11) were in child class C. 88% of patient who was evaluated by gastroscope had esophageal varies. 91% of patients had ascites which 90% were massive , 20% moderate and 10% small amount. Peritoneal scintigraphy were positive in 7 patients , excluded a patient who was suspected cause of pleural effusion form pulmonary infection , percent of demonstrated peritoneo-pleural communication was 70. A patient who didn’t have ascites also had positive scintigraphy. Time since radiotracer administration until it appears in pleural cavity was less than 1 hour in 57% of patients, 2 hours 14.3% , 4 hours 14.3% and 24 hours 14.3% Conclusion: 99mTc-MAA peritoneal scintigraphy is a safe , rapid, cheap, minimally invasive and low radiation method for evaluation of the patients who was suspected hepatic hydrothorax with medium positive results (70%) and high specificity

Abstract Abstract 2064 OBJECTIVE: Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) is the most common hematologic malignancy in Thailand. The objective of the study was to evaluate clinical features, histopathology, treatment outcomes and prognostic factors in Thai adult patients with NHL. METHODS: Using web-based registry system, we prospectively collected clinical information of newly diagnosed NHL patients from eleven major medical centers situated in various geographic regions of Thailand. All histopathological diagnoses were reviewed by consensus meeting of panels of 6 expert hematopathologists and classified according to the 2008 WHO classification of the lymphoid neoplasms. Clinical features and treatment outcomes were analyzed using STATA program. RESULTS: Between January 2007 and May 2009, there were a total of 939 NHL patients whose clinical information including follow-up data and tissue samples were readily available for analysis. The median age was 58 years (range, 15–99). Forty six percent of the patients were ≥60 years of age. Male:female was 1.18:1. The six leading subtypes were diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (67%), extranodal marginal zone lymphoma of MALT type (7%), follicular lymphoma (6%), mantle cell lymphoma (4%), peripheral T-cell lymphoma, not otherwise specified (NOS) (3%) and extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (3%). T-cell lymphoma constituted 10% of all NHL. The three most common subtypes in T-cell lymphomas were peripheral T-cell lymphoma, NOS (26%), extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma, nasal type (25%) and angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (15%). Fifty-eight percent of all patients had advanced disease (stage III, IV), 42% had B symptoms and 54% had elevated serum LDH. The IPI risk groups were 23% low, 30% low-intermediate, 30% high-intermediate and 17% high-risk. HIV-associated NHL was seen in 4.4% of the patients. Of the 801 patients who received chemotherapy, 90% were treated with anthracycline-containing regimen. Twenty-five percent of the patients received rituximab. Of the 663 evaluable patients, the rate of objective tumor response was 75% (CR+CRu, 59%). At a median follow-up time of 13 months, the 4-year projected overall survival (OS) was 73% (95% CI 69–77%). The OS of patients with T-cell lymphoma was inferior to B-cell lymphoma (58% vs. 74%, p = 0.04). With multivariate analysis, the independent adverse prognostic factors for OS in B-cell lymphoma were poor performance status (HR 2.4, 95% CI 1.7–3.5), elevated serum LDH (HR 2.1, 95% CI 1.4–3.1), stage III/IV (HR 1.6, 95% CI 1.1–2.3), WHO subtype (HR 1.1, 95% CI 1.0–1.2), no chemotherapy (HR 3.1, 95% CI 1.9–5.1) and no rituximab treatment (HR 1.7, 95% CI 1.1–2.6). The independent adverse factors for OS in T-cell lymphoma were elevated serum LDH (HR 3.7, 95% CI 1.2–11.1) and male sex (HR 3.4, 95% CI 1.3–8.8). CONCLUSIONS: This study confirmed the characteristic features of NHL among Thai population, i.e., a preponderance of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and a low incidence of follicular lymphoma within B-cell lymphoma; a relatively high incidence of nasal NK/T-cell lymphoma within T-cell lymphoma. This paper seeks to explore environmental, social and governance issues arising from investment in special economic zones (SEZs) in the mainland Southeast Asian region through a mixture of thick analytical description and multiple case study approach. All the states studied here have embraced the SEZ approach as it offers rapid economic development without any implications for the political settlement, which is considered beneficial by current administrations. Particular emphasis is placed on environmental, social and governance issues in the region covered and some complex issues that have emerged. It is shown that the situation is complex and continually evolving and that there are limited constraints on the actions of corporations. Consequently, there is an opportunity for investors to set precedents and protocols on a progressive basis. Introduction: In today’s challenging competition in the consumer goods, the manufacturers strive for their products to reach final customers before they turn their heads to the rival’s ones. This research attempts to understand and investigate how 7-Eleven company manages its logistics activities, distribution and applying information technology to achieve competitive advantages.

Purpose: The purpose of thesis is, in retailing industry and retailing convenience store’s perspective, to identify and describe the way 7-Eleven manages and operates its retail convenience business focusing on several aspects; strategic fits, distribution and IT, which support 7-Eleven’s activities and how they contribute to competitive advantages for the firm.

Frame of reference: Based on various sources of literature concerning competitive advantage and strategic fits, distribution related to marketing and retail, distribution centers and warehousing, and information system apply in retail store.

 

Method: The study is considered as qualitative single-case study. Data is collected from the interviews with several parties involve with retail convenience industry in Thailand. Secondary data is retrieved from the information system, research and reports, publication sources as well as internet sources.  Lastly, data analysis is followed by the literature chapter.

 

Conclusion: By applying the synchronized strategies between supply chain members to adjust and modify the capabilities of firms, leads to supply chain benefits and competitive advantage for retail firm. The applications of IT and Distribution Centers enhance supply chain capabilities, reliability, and dependability which result in better service and market performance. They are also the keys that facilitate the operations of supply chain and retail store.

 

 

 

Background: Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) plays an important role in preparing safe and productive lives of adolescents through understanding about HIV/ AIDS, sexually transmitted infections, unintended pregnancy, gender-based violence, and gender disparity. This scoping review aimed to investigate the appropriate method of sex education and information for adolescents. Subjects and Method: A scoping review method was conducted in eight stages including (1) Identification of study problems; (2) Determining priority problem and study question; (3) Determining framework; (4) Literature searching; (5) Article selec­tion; (6) Critical appraisal; (7) Data extraction; and (8) Mapping. The research question was identified using population, exposure, and outcome(s) (PEOS) framework. The search included PubMed, ScienceDirect, Wiley Online Library, ProQuest, and EBSCO databases. The inclusion criteria were English-language and full-text articles published between 2009 and 2019. A total of 460 articles was obtained from the searched database. After the review process, twenty articles were eligible for this review. The data were reported by the PRISMA flow chart. Results: Eleven articles from developing countries (Nigeria, Thailand, Iran, California, Vietnam, Spain, South Africa, Indonesia) and nine articles from developed countries (USA, England, Australia) met the inclusion criteria with quantitative (cross-sectional, quasi-experiments, cohort, RCT) and qualitative design studies. The findings discussed available sources of sex education for adolescents including peers, school, media, and other adults. Digital media (internet and TV) contributed as preferable sources for adolescents. The parents and teacher’s involvement in providing sex education remained inadequate. Inappropriate sources of sex education like invalid information from the internet and other adults caused negative consequences on the sexual and reproductive health of children and adolescents.
