Abstract:
Along with rising awareness of social welfare and environmental protection, corporate social responsibility becomes an internationally emphasized topic. The implementation of corporate social responsibility could effectively promote social impact and brand value as well as present the competitiveness of long-term competitive advantage and sustainable management. From the aspect of environmental protection, medical products with use value should not be disposed in the recovery channel. In this case, the maintenance of medical products and the activity to maintain waste medical products, recycle resources, and reuse parts are the environmental protection issues stressed by the government and the public. Aiming at the mass society in Fujian Province, total 360 copies of questionnaire are distributed, with random sampling, and 274 valid copies are retrieved, with the retrieval rate 76%. The retrieved data are analyzed with statistics software. The research results show significant correlations between reverse logistics and corporate image, corporate image and social impact, as well as reverse logistics and social impact. Suggestions, according to the results, are proposed, expecting to help medical device industry effectively combine green strategies, include the concept of environmental protection into corporate culture, provide the society with valuable goods or services, master green business opportunities, and precede differentiation competition in the same trade in order to win in the fierce competition.

Самотність є однією з найбільш глобальних проблем сьогодення. Із кожним днем все більша кількість людей починає відчувати себе маленькими «гвинтиками» у величезній системі, без яких можна обійтись. Лише глибоке й ретельне вивчення цієї проблеми допоможе нам зробити хоча б перші кроки у бік її вирішення. Хоча ми знаходимося в соціумі, що сповнений величезною кількістю людей, де самотність, по суті, майже неможлива, однак сфера високих технологій та штучного інтелекту відгородили людей один від одного, а комунікація у віртуальній реальності, у багатьох випадках, повністю замінила нам реальне міжособистісне спілкування. Частіше за все людям комфортніше і зручніше спілкуватися у мережі, без будь-яких зобов’язань і відповідальності перед іншим, тим паче, зараз навіть навчатися можна дистанційно, не говорячи вже про багато інших речей, які за нас можуть зробити технології. Все це змушує людину замислитися про безглуздість її існування. Це стає причиною стресів, депресій, аномій, підвищеного рівня самогубств та багатьох інших глобальних проблем, які є реальною загрозою для людства.

Між театральною грою акторів на сцені та взаємодією людей у реальній дійсності існує майже повна аналогія, як між методами та виражальними засобами, якими користуються і театральні актори, і індивіди як соціальні актори у щоденному житті. Саме так, буквально, сприйняв Е.Гоффман шекспірівський рядок "весь світ - театр", і спробував проаналізувати повсякденне життя у термінах акторів, які грають свої ролі. Всі атрибути театру - глядачі, сценарій, ролі, декорації, костюми, трупа - можна легко знайти у реальній повсякденності. Соціальне життя, за театральною версією, розглядається як послідовне поєднання міні-драм, адже кожна соціальна взаємодія - це певний вид спектаклю з його власними правилами.

Гендерний стереотип, як і інші види соціальних стереотипів – це невід’ємний атрибут повсякденного мислення, самоусвідомлення та взаємодії індивідів у соціальному просторі. У науковців немає спільної думки щодо природи та сутності гендерного стереотипу: деякі з них надають стереотипам негативного забарвлення, характеризуючи їх як неправильні узагальнення – занадто широкі, перебільшені чи спрощені, які не формуються через соціальний досвід та містять у собі елемент оцінки. З іншого боку, стереотипізацію можна розглядати як необхідний і важливий когнітивний процес, який опосередковує поведінку людини, що допомагає її орієнтації

Abstract The increasing utilization of MRI in radiation therapy planning for head and neck cancer (HNC) highlights the need for precise tumor segmentation to enhance treatment efficacy and reduce side effects. This work presents segmentation models developed for the HNTS-MRG 2024 challenge by the team mic-dkfz, focusing on automated segmentation of HNC tumors from MRI images at two radiotherapy (RT) stages: before (pre-RT) and 2–4 weeks into RT (mid-RT). For Task 1 (pre-RT segmentation), we built upon the nnU-Net framework, enhancing it with the larger Residual Encoder architecture. We incorporated extensive data augmentation and applied transfer learning by pretraining the model on a diverse set of public 3D medical imaging datasets. For Task 2 (mid-RT segmentation), we adopted a longitudinal approach by integrating registered pre-RT images and their segmentations as additional inputs into the nnU-Net framework. On the test set, our models achieved mean aggregated Dice Similarity Coefficient (aggDSC) scores of 81.2 for Task 1 and 72.7 for Task 2. Especially the primary tumor (GTVp) segmentation is challenging and presents potential for further optimization. These results demonstrate the effectiveness of combining advanced architectures, transfer learning, and longitudinal data integration for automated tumor segmentation in MRI-guided adaptive radiation therapy.

This paper focuses on the exegesis of some Petronian animals. As for the chained dog, the painted one (29.1) and the one in the flesh (64.7-9 and 72.7-9), we recognise both a dense network of epic references to the catabasis of Aeneas and ironic allusions to Seneca and to the popular tradition. Besides that, in our opinion, the epic language used to describe the fall of Ascyltus and Encolpius into the fishpond (72.7) emphasises the game between art and life which pervades the Cena. In the second part we defend the manuscript reading super capricornum locustam marinam (35.4).

Abstract:
This research work reveals that the thermal properties of cement mortar are significantly affected with increase in crumb-rubber content, when used to partially replace sand in cement mortar mixes. The work is based on experimental study with replacement made at 5%, 10%, 15%, 20% and 25% crumb rubber by volume. Thermal properties were measured base on the transient line heat source (TLS) method using a KD 2 Pro-thermal analyzer. Thermal properties most especially the thermal conductivity of cement mortar (1.286W/mk) was greatly reduced to 0.351W/mk indicating 72.7% reduction with 25% crumb-rubber particles content, which makes it a better insulator. The specific heat capacity of cement mortar (2.791 MJ/m3.k) was reduced to 1.424MJ/m3k indicating 49% reduction with 25% rubber content, which may adversely reduce thermal mass effect. Other thermal properties such as thermal resistivity increased by 72.7%, thermal diffusivity decreased by 46.4% while thermal effusivity decreases by 66.4%.These results indicates that the potential use of such a composite material as an insulating mortar for building applications is viable.

This chapter is a study of the utilization of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) for learning in the higher education, given by the top universities in the world. As we know, MOOC platforms are widely popular in the field of e-learning, in the dissemination of higher education all over the world. Such initiatives are essential for students or people who want to be involved in higher education without going to a university for the completion of degree courses. This study found that most of the top universities started MOOCs in 2012 and found that a 72.7% majority of universities offered diploma and certificate courses to people through MOOCs. It was also found that the eDX platform was used by all the selected universities in providing MOOCs.

Anemia is a major cause of morbidity and mortality of SCD patients in many parts of the world with the burden much higher in Sub Saharan Africa. This study developed an ensemble of machine learning algorithm for the prediction of the risk of anemia in pediatric SCD patients. Data for this study was collected from 115 pediatric SCD outpatients receiving treatment at a tertiary hospital in South-Western Nigeria. This study adopted a stack-ensemble model composed of deep neural network (DNN), multi-layer perceptron (MLP), and support vector machines (SVM) as base and meta-classifiers using the WEKA software. The ensemble models were compared following the stack-ensemble developed using SVM as a meta-classifier had the best performance with an accuracy of 72.7%. The study concluded that information about socio-demographic and clinical data can be used to assess the risk of anemia among SCD patients.

Patient experience while using telehealth services impacts patient care, and health system incentives and reimbursement. Therefore, the patient experience should be continuously improved, which requires evaluation. Surveying patients is integral to this process. Ideally, patient experience surveys used to evaluate telehealth services should cover patient experience sub-themes, be validated, and minimize bias. This paper evaluates how current validated patient experience surveys cover patient experience sub-themes, and how many are telehealth-specific. We collected 11 validated patient experience surveys. We then extracted five themes and 114 sub-themes of the patient experience. We evaluated survey questions against patient experience sub-themes. We found that current validated patient experience surveys cover, at most, 20.2% of patient experience sub-themes, with the most common sub-themes being “Psychosocial Needs” (81.8%) and “Information: Treatment” (72.7%). We cross-referenced validated patient experience surveys against validated telehealth-specific surveys. Only one validated patient experience survey (PEQ) was also telehealth-specific.

Socioeconomic status is the totality of an individual’s social and economic conditions and may vary from person to person based on various criteria, issues, and distinct factors. A family’s socioeconomic status is based on family income, parental education level, parental occupation, and social status in society. This study intends to determine student’s socioeconomic status and explain how it affects mental health, academic performance, and personal life among university students. This is a mixed-method study, with both qualitative and quantitative methods. The study data and information were collected from the students of Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University, Mymensingh, Bangladesh. The study sample size is 180 (n=180; male = 81 and female = 99; including case study= 05) The sample was collected through a convenient sampling method, and a face-to-face interview was conducted. The male (72.7%) and female (66.7%) students are more mentally stressed by socioeconomic status, and above half of the respondents’ (55%) academic study is influenced by it. Overall, this analytical study will also progressively contribute to getting the whole idea about the socioeconomic status of the university students in Bangladesh.

Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) improves pain, function, and quality of life, but rare complications can impact recovery. Identifying risk factors for complications and readmissions is crucial for better decision-making and patient outcomes. This study assessed readmission rates and early complications within 30 and 90 days after TKA. Out of 633 patients treated between January 2017 and February 2022, data from 609 were analyzed after excluding 28 due to unavailability. Hospital records were reviewed, and observations were recorded. The 30-day and 90-day readmission rates were 1.1% (n = 7) and 1.8% (n = 11), while unplanned visit rates were 2.6% (n = 16) at 30 days and 4.6% (n = 28) at 90 days. The 90-day unplanned readmission rate was 1.4% (n = 9), with causes categorized as medical (27.2%) and surgical (72.7%). No significant differences in readmissions or visits were found by age, body mass index (BMI), procedure type, or comorbidity status. Reoperation rates were 0.66% (n = 4) at 30 days and 1.15% (n = 8) at 90 days, with an average hospital stay of 6.53 days. The study concluded that readmission rates following TKA were low and were not significantly associated with patient factors like age, BMI, or comorbidities.

Introduction:Gestational Trophoblastic Disease (GTD) is a rare complication in pregnancy that is divided into two groups: the benign form Hydatidiform Mole (MH) and the malignant form Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia (GTN). GTN is divided into four types of histopathological disorders, namely: invasive mole (MI), choriocarcinoma, placental site tumor (PTTT) and epithelioid trophoblastic tumor (TTE) Objectives: To identify the frequency of GTN in patients treated at the referral center of the Oncology Control Center Foundation of the State of Amazonas (FCECON) from 2011 to 2018, specifying their sociodemographic data, clinical data and disease characteristics and mortality. Methodology: This is a retrospective observational study that included patients diagnosed and treated with GTN at FCECON from 2011 to 2018. Data were obtained from medical records, then tabulated and descriptive statistics were performed. Results: The frequency of GTN was 11 patients, aged 29.8 years, most of them brown (72.7%), the most frequent clinical picture was vaginal bleeding (45.4%), IM was the most common form of GTN (54.5%), the low-risk classification was the most frequent (63.6%), the lung was the main site of metastases (54.5%) and mortality was 27.3% of the cases. Conclusion: Despite the advances in diagnosis and treatment described in recent decades, GTN in Amazonas still has a high mortality rate.

Abstract:
Propolis, a resinous substance collected by bees from plant exudates and buds, has gained renewed interest as a natural feed additive for animal nutrition. Its composition varies depending on the plant source, time, and place of collection; however, it is primarily composed of phenolic acids, flavonoids, and their derivatives. Egyptian propolis contains phenolic acid esters (72.7%), dihydrochalcones (6.5%), flavones (4.6%), aliphatic acids (2.4%), flavanones (1.9%), chalcones (1.7%), phenolic acids (1.1%), and tetrahydrofuran (THF) derivatives (0.7%). Turkish propolis contains flavonoids (37.83%), organic acids (18.54%), aromatic acids and their esters (35.8%), hydrocarbons (4.89%), and other undefined components (2.94%). Propolis also contains vitamins, minerals, enzymes, fatty acids, amino acids, terpenes, and polysaccharides. Its bioactive components, including CAPE, artepillin C, caffeic acid, chrysin, galangin, quercetin, apigenin, kaempferol, pinobanksin, and pinocembrin contribute to its antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant properties. These characteristics make propolis a promising natural growth promoter for livestock production and a potential replacement for antibiotics. In addition, propolis has applications in food technology as a preservative, with the added benefit of its residues being beneficial to human health. Ethanol is the preferred solvent for preparing propolis, although other solvents can also be used for the extraction and identification of its constituents. Polyphenols and flavonoids in propolis have been reported to positively affect the immune systems of various species, making it a valuable addition to livestock production practices.

Abstract:
Ordinances are documents issued by federal institutions that contain, among others, information regarding their staff. These documents are accessible through public repositories that usually do not allow any filter or advanced search on documents’ contents. This paper presents ACERPI, an approach which identifies the people mentioned in the ordinances to help the user find the documents of interest. ACERPI combines techniques to discover, obtain, convert and structure documents, extract information, and link employees entities. Experiments were performed on two real datasets and demonstrated a recall of 72.7% for our named entity recognition model trained with only 534 samples and F1 measure of 90% in the efficacy of the entity resolution technique.

The results of fungicide usage BAS 762 02 F against spread sunflower diseases: septoria leaf spot of sunflower (Septoria helianthiEll. et Kell.) and alternaria (Alternaria helianthi (Hansf.) Tubaki & Nishih.) in the western Forest-steppe of Ukraine. The best rates of usage for preparations' input according to the studies results during 2021–2022. The fungicide highest efficiency against septoria leaf spot observed in the scope 0.8–1.0 l/ha. The preparation's technical efficiency consisted of 78.8–81.4%. The fungicide BAS 762 02 F usage against alternaria reduced the sunflower's plant disease development on 3.7–6.9 times at preparation's consumption rate 0,6– 1,0 l/ha in comparison with control. The preparation's technical efficiency consisted of 72.7 – 85.5%.

Abstract:
This study explores the application of image-based deep learning techniques to distinguish between Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) and Atrial Flutter (AFlut) using images of standard 12-lead ECG exams from a private database. By implementing a MobileNet Convolutional Neural Network architecture, we achieve a high classification performance, with an accuracy of 95.6%, AUROC of 97.6%, F1-score of 83.2%, specificity of 99.6%, and sensitivity of 72.7%. We also applied explainable methods, such as Grad-CAM and LIME, to try to interpret the model’s decision-making process and identify significant regions within the ECG images that contribute to the classification. Our results demonstrate the potential of image-based deep learning approaches for accurate and reliable discrimination between AFib and AFlut, paving the way for enhanced diagnostic capabilities in clinical settings.

Abstract:
The quality of the working environment plays a crucial role in workers’ health and safety. This study examines the impact of physical workplace conditions, specifically lighting and temperature, on occupational safety in selected factories in Sri Lanka’s Western Province. Using a descriptive research design, secondary data were analyzed from environmental monitoring reports and accident registers. The study found a significant negative correlation between light levels and occupational accidents (r = -0.506, p < 0.01), indicating that improved lighting reduces accident risk. A positive correlation was observed between high temperatures and accidents (r = 0.367, p < 0.01), suggesting that heat stress contributes to increased incident rates. Among the factories surveyed, 72.7% reported at least one workplace accident. Of the recorded incidents, 75.5% were minor injuries, 20.4% major injuries, and 4.1% fatal. The findings emphasize the necessity of maintaining adequate lighting and thermal conditions to enhance workplace safety. The study recommends stricter enforcement of occupational safety standards and further investigation into other environmental and organizational factors affecting worker health and safety.

Feline coronavirus (FCoV) is ubiquitous in the domestic cat (Felis catus) population. The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and potential predisposing factors of FCoV in cats of an animal shelter in Latvia and to compare the prevalence between cats in the quarantine area and resident cats in the adoption area. Oropharyngeal and faecal swabs and blood samples were collected from 40 domestic shorthair cats from an animal shelter in Jelgava, Latvia. Swabs were analyzed for FCoV RNA by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Blood serum samples were tested for FCoV specific antibodies by indirect enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). FCoV RT-PCR positivity in oropharyngeal and rectal swabs was 7.5% (3/40) and 72.5% (29/40), respectively. Additionally, FCoV seroprevalence was 67.5% (27/40). The proportion of cats shedding FCoV within the adoption (72.7%) and quarantine (72.2%) areas was similar (p = 0.55). The prevalence of FCoV faecal shedding in young cats was significantly higher (p < 0.05) than in adult cats. Sex had no significant effect on FCoV RT-PCR positivity. Further studies on larger cat population including different population types are needed to determine the overall prevalence and epidemiological patterns of FCoV infection in Latvia.

Qualitative-comparative analysis (QCA) is a research based on Boolean algebra that integrates both qualitative and quantitative elements to perform the analysis of causal conditions for the production of an outcome. This study performs a use case of the QCA methodology, focused on whether water is integrated into the business strategy of companies. The purpose of this paper is to provide a case study for a “crisp” set, in which variables are dichotomous, where causal conditions and outcomes are either present ot absent for each case. Within the case study, several causal conditions are explored as potential triggers to the integration of water into the business strategy of companies. The causal conditions explored are: whether companies have evaluated the effect of water in their potential growth, whether companies have experienced detrimental impacts linked to water, whether they require suppliers to report on water, and finally, whether companies have identified opportunities linked to water. Results show that the presence of both the conditions of “having evaluated the effects of water” and “identified opportunities linekd to water” represent 72.7% of the positive cases for water integration, thus, potentially being causal conditions that produce the outcome “water integration into business strategy”. However, none of the potential causal conditions are identified as necessary conditions as there is record of companies integrating water even when none of the causal conditions are present.

Carbon fiber-based structural lithium-ion batteries are attracting significant attention in the automotive and aerospace industries due to their dual capability of energy storage and mechanical load-bearing, leading to weight reduction. These batteries utilize lightweight carbon fiber (CF) composites, which offer excellent stiffness, strength-to-weight ratios, and electrical conductivity. Polyacrylonitrile-based CFs, comprising graphitic and amorphous carbon, are particularly suitable for Li-ion battery applications as they allow the storage of lithium ions. However, integrating lithium iron phosphate (LFP) into CFs poses challenges due to complex lab-scale processes and the use of toxic dispersants, hindering large-scale industrial compatibility. To address this, we investigate the development of water-based LFPintegrated CF structural Li-ion batteries. Homogeneous suspensions are created using cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) to form hybrid structures. The battery system employs LFP-modified CF as the cathode, unsized CF as the anode, and a water-based electrolyte. The LFP-CNC-graphene nanoplatelet (GNP) hybrids are coated onto CFs through immersion coating. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) images confirm the well-dispersed and well-adhered LFP-CNC-GNP structures on the CF surface, contributing to their mechanical interlocking and electrochemical performance. The batteries demonstrate a specific energy density of 62.67 Wh/kg and a specific capacity of 72.7 mAh/g. Furthermore, the cyclic voltammetry experiments reveal the stability of the LFP-CNC-GNP-coated CF batteries over 200 cycles without degradation. This research enables the engineering of hybrid nanostructured battery laminates using novel LFP-CNC-GNP-coated CFs, opening avenues for the development of innovative Li-ion structural batteries.

Background: Some older adults with subjective decline (SCD) had a positive amyloid biomarker indicating a preclinical stage of Alzheimer’s disease. Objectives: To assess the accuracy of Delayed Recall of Figure Memory Test (DR-FMT) of Brief Cognitive Screening Battery to predict amyloid status in SCD older adults. Objective: To assess the accuracy of Delayed Recall of Figure Memory Test (DR-FMT) of Brief Cognitive Screening Battery to predict amyloid status in SCD older adults. Methods: The sample consisted of 45 older adults classified as SCD and 25 as controls without complaints (mean age of 76.4 and 73.5, respectively, p= 0.138). They were evaluated with BCSB and a standard neuropsychological battery (which includes MMSE, MoCA, RAVLT, Logical Memory and DR of Rey Complex Figure). Subjects underwent PIB-PET to assess their amyloid status and images were classified based on visual and semi-quantitative analyses with 3DSSP methodology. Results: Twelve SCD older adults (27.3%) had positive PIB-PET against six in the controls (23.1%). In SCD group, DR-FMT was the only memory test that correlated with SUV in amyloid PET (r = -0.514, p < 0.001). Only DR-FMT showed significant area under the curve (AUC) in the ROC curve in SCD older adults (AUC = 0.771, 95% CI 0.621 - 0.921). Among SCD older adults, DR-FMT < 8.0 had a sensitivity of 83.3%, a specificity of 68.7% and an accuracy of 72.7%. Conclusion: FMT proved to have a good sensitivity and accuracy to predict amyloid status in SCD older adults.

Abstract The United States (U.S.) has experienced a natural gas “boom” due to the development of unconventional shale plays, but well development is energy intensive. Operations use electric drilling rigs typically powered by either three high-horsepower diesel engines (HHPDE) or three dedicated natural gas engines (DNGE) and associated generators. From a first law analysis, HHPDEs peak at about 42% efficient at full load, while DNGE peak at about 30%. Most fuel energy is lost as heat rejected by the exhaust and radiators. Concurrently, during cold seasonsor or in cold regions rigs utilize boilers to provide steam throughout the rig to prevent freezing and provide comfort. Our analysis focused on a combined heat power (CHP) approach to improve the utilization factor (UF) of fossil energy consumed during unconventional drilling operations. Engine activity, boiler fuel consumption, and exhaust gas temperatures were recorded during winter drilling of an entire well in the Marcellus shale. Four characteristic activity cycles were extracted from recorded activity to represent four energy consumption scenarios. Exhaust and jacket water heat exchangers (E-HEX, JW-HEX) were designed and simulated, and results were analyzed in 0-D models for the four case scenarios. A 584-kWh hybrid energy management system (HEMS) was also designed and simulated into the model as another method to reduce fossil energy fuel consumption during well development. HHPDE UF improved on average from 35.7% to 55.7% if only E-HEX were used and improved to 72.7% if JW-HEX were also used. DNGE average UF increased from 19.0% to 34.9% using E-HEX only. HEMS utilization improved UF up to an average of 76.9% and 39.1% for HHPDE CHP and DNGE CHP systems, respectively.

The purpose of the research was to investigate pesticide residues in bee’s body and to identify the most common and dangerous pesticides that can affect honeybees in the forest site. The bee samples have been analyzed to the residues of 11 most widely used pesticides. As a result of the research, it was established that most of the studied pesticides (72.7%) wasn’t registered in the bee samples, collected from the apiary, stationed in the forest site. In 20% of the analyzed bee samples no residues of either of the 11 investigated pesticides were found, in 40% of the bee samples, detectable level of residues of a single pesticide (the pyrethroidic insecticide Tau-fluvalinate) was recorded, in other 20% of the samples detectable residues of 2 pesticides (the neonicotinoid insecticide Imidacloprid and acaricide Amitraz) was recorded, and in the other 20% of the bees samples detectable residues of 3 pesticides (pyrethroid insecticide Tau-fluvalinate, insecticide neonicotinoid Imidacloprid and acaricide Amitraz) was registered. The values of detectable concentrations of pesticide residues recorded in bee samples taken from the forest site were very small, constituting on average: the pyrethroid insecticide Tau-fluvalinate – 0.0062±0.0007 mg/kg; the neonicotinoid insecticide Imidacloprid – 0.0060±0.0006 mg/kg and the acaricide Amitraz – 0.0058±0,0006 mg/kg. The detected concentrations of pesticide residues are 1.7 - 32.2 times lower than the maximum admisibile limits, according to national and EU standards. Hence, the forest site environment is not polluted with pesticide residues and, therefore, doesn’t represent any risk of contamination for bee families, which could compromise the bee’s health and the safety of apiculture products, intended for human consumption.

Abstract:
โรคติดเชื้อเฉียบพลันของระบบทางเดินหายใจส่วนล่างเป็นสาเหตุของการเจ็บป่วยและการเสียชีวิตที่สำคัญในเด็กอายุต่ำกว่า 5 ปีในประเทศที่กำลังพัฒนา สาเหตุส่วนใหญ่เกิดจากการติดเชื้อไวรัส การศึกษานี้ได้ทำการตรวจ nasopharyngeal aspirates ของผู้ป่วยเด็กอายุ 0-5 ปี ที่ป่วยด้วยโรคติดเชื้อเฉียบพลันของระบบทางเดินหายใจส่วนล่างจำนวน 268 ราย ที่เข้ารับการรักษาในโรงพยาบาลจุฬาลงกรณ์ ระหว่างกรกฎาคม พ.ศ. 2550 ถึงกันยายน พ.ศ. 2552 ด้วยวิธี multiplex realtime reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) พบว่าร้อยละ 67.2 เกิดจากการติดเชื้อไวรัส โดย respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) เป็นไวรัสที่พบมากที่สุด พบร้อยละ 39.9 รองลงไปได้แก่ adenovirus (ADV) พบร้อยละ 23.1, influenza virus type A (IFV-A) พบร้อยละ 7.1, parainfluenza virus type 1 (PIV-1) พบร้อยละ 3.7, parainfluenza virus type 3 (PIV-3) พบร้อยละ 3.7, parainfluenza virus type 2 (PIV-2) พบร้อยละ 0.8 และ influenza virus type B (IFV-B) พบร้อยละ 0.4 การตรวจหาเชื้อไวรัสก่อโรคในระบบทางเดินหายใจด้วยวิธี multiplex realtime RT-PCR เป็นวิธีที่มีความไวและความจำเพาะสูงเมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับการตรวจด้วยวิธีมาตรฐาน การตรวจหา IFV-A ด้วยวิธี multiplex realtime RT-PCR มีความไวและความจำเพาะ ร้อยละ 100.0 และ 96.9, การเพาะแยกเชื้อไวรัส ร้อยละ 36.4 และ 100.0 และการตรวจหาแอนติเจนของไวรัส ร้อยละ 54.6 และ 99.2 ตามลำดับ การตรวจหา ADV ด้วย multiplex realtime RT-PCR มีความไวและความจำเพาะร้อยละ 95.4 และ 90.7, การเพาะแยกเชื้อไวรัสร้อยละ 27.9 และ 100.0 และการตรวจหาแอนติเจนของไวรัส ร้อยละ 27.9 และ 99.1 ตามลำดับ การตรวจหา PIV-1 ด้วยวิธี multiplex realtime RT-PCR มีความไวและความจำเพาะ ร้อยละ 87.5 และ 98.9, การเพาะแยกเชื้อไวรัส ร้อยละ 87.5 และ 100.0 และการตรวจหาแอนติเจนของไวรัส ร้อยละ 75.0 และ 98.9 ตามลำดับ การตรวจหา PIV-3 ด้วยวิธี multiplex realtime RT-PCR มีความไวและความจำเพาะ ร้อยละ 90.9 และ 100.0, การเพาะแยกเชื้อไวรัส ร้อยละ 72.7 และ 100.0 และการตรวจหาแอนติเจนของไวรัส ร้อยละ 54.6 และ 98.8 ตามลำดับ การตรวจหา RSV ด้วยวิธี realtime RT-PCR มีความไวและความจำเพาะ ร้อยละ 98.1 และ 97.0 และ 97.0 การเพาะแยกเชื้อไวรัส ร้อยละ 85.6 และ 100.0 และการตรวจหาแอนติเจนของไวรัส ร้อยละ 92.3 และ 99.4 ตามลำดับ
