Abstract:
In this work our goal is to better understand the origin of the cyclic accumulation of the inelastic strain (often called ratcheting) observed in 304L SS subjected to uniaxial cyclic stress control at room temperature. Recent works performed in the frame of small strain assumption attribute this phenomenon essentially to creep [1]. However, outside this frame, it seems that creep is not the only contributor in this phenomenon [2]. New experiments are performed here in order to investigate the role played by creep, cyclic softening, fatigue damage and ratcheting in this observation.

Three types of power law flow rules are commonly used in classical crystal plasticity. These laws are purely phenomenological. Specific choice of the definition leads to a unique number of implications including lattice rotation and slip activities, and we will highlight a few of them. We examined these three flow rules within finite strain framework with a single crystalline Al-rich TiAl binary alloy at very high homologous temperature with three strain rate controlled experimental data . Abstract:
Research on energy demand is advancing, with the addition of nanomaterials in anaerobic digestion increasing stability, accelerating hydrolysis, and reducing microbial inhibition. However, further research is needed to determine the mechanisms, ideal dosages, and long-term impacts. This work used continuous stir tank reactors (CSTRs) to experimentally examine the biocompatibility of iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe3O4-NPs) at a concentration of 75 mg/L at various organic loading rates (OLRs) of 0.3, 0.8, and 1.3 gVS/L.d (CSTRs). The efficiency of the reactors was observed by considering various pa

The investigation was carried out in 2023-2024 in the experimental field of the Department of Plant Production, Technical University - Varna. The Crimson sweet watermelon variety was cultivated in two farming systems: organic and conventional. In organic farming, two fertilizers are used - compost and Isabion. In the conventional farming were used - YaraMila Complex and N15P15K15 + 11 S. The results show that the total vegetative weight is highest in Compost + Isabion (860 g), followed by the independent application of Isabion (725.3 g), and the index was 476 g for the untreated control. When c

This paper is concerned with rate-dependent hardening behaviors of the TRIP980 steel sheet. In sheet metal forming, sheet metals experiences complicated loading at various strain rates. In order to predict deformed shape in sheet metal forming, accurate material properties and an appropriate constitutive model in numerical simulation are important to consider reverse loading and various strain rates simultaneously. This paper deals with rate-dependent material parameters of the isotropic/kinematic hardening model. This paper is concerned with the characterization of the OFHC copper flow stress at strain rates ranging from 10−3 s−1 to 106 s−1 considering the large strain and high temperature effects. Several uniaxial material tests with OFHC copper are performed at a wide range of strain rates from 10−3 s−1 to 103 s−1 by using a INSTRON 5583, a High Speed Material Testing Machine (HSMTM), and a tension split Hopkinson pressure bar. In order to consider the thermal softening effect, tensile tests at 25°C and 200°C are performed at strain rates of 10−3 s−1,101 s−1, and 102 s−1. A modified thermal softening

A theoretical research is carried out to study the large deflection response of a fully clamped rectangular metal sandwich plates with functionally graded foam core subjected to blast loading. Using a new yield criterion for sandwich cross-section with graded foam core, we obtained the analytical solutions for the dynamic response of rectangular sandwich plates. Finite element simulations with gradient layers foam core model are performed to study the dynamic response of the sandwich plates with graded foam core subjected to blast loading. Abstract:
The industrial necking prediction in sheet metal forming is still based on the Forming Limit Diagram (FLD) as initially proposed by Keeler. The FLD is commonly specified by the Nakajima tests and evaluated with the so called cross section method. Although widely used, the FLC concept has numerous serious limitations. In the paper the influences of bending on the FLC as well as postponed crack limits will be discussed. Both criteria will be combined to an extended FLC concept (X-FLC). The new concept demonstrates that the Nakajima tests are not only appropriate for the evaluation of the necking

At the microscopic scale fast neutron irradiation brings about a high density of small point defect clusters in the form of dislocation loops and voids. And such radiation damage is of primary importance for materials used in nuclear energy production. In the present investigation emphasis is placed on the understanding of the mechanisms involved in the evolution of prismatic dislocation loops by glide in the presence of external free surfaces and those of the voids and in the interaction between dislocation loops and voids within irradiated thin films, so as to simulate in situ Transmission E

Abstract:
A new nondestructive method using terahertz waves for determining the carrier density of GaAs is proposed. The reflectance around the longitudinal optical (LO) phonon frequency changes with carrier density, whereas the reflectance around the transverse optical (TO) phonon frequency is constant. The relative reflectance, which is evaluated from the reflectance at the two frequencies related to the TO and LO phonon, as a function of the carrier density of GaAs was calculated from the dielectric function. A broadband tunable terahertz source is convenient for producing two waves around these phon
