Abstract From solid phase peptide synthetic approaches of mMIF(93-115) the C-terminal sequence turned out to be a typical „difficult sequence“ peptide. Various stepwise syntheses were performed with different resins and coupling reagents. The Peptide was synthesized in 90% yield by solid phase fragment condensation of protected mMIF(93-108) to mMIF(109-115) ‘2-Chlorotrityl’ resin bound.

Abstract:
The article examines the concept of CONCILIARITY as a “symbolic” deep linguistic concept of the Russian linguistic picture of the world, reflecting the national spiritual activity of the people. This concept is analyzed in the light of religious-theological, philosophical, sociological and culturological knowledge manifested in language and through language. The article examines the main ideas of conciliarity, which find confirmation, “imprint” in the language: the dissolution of I in the collective WE, which embodies the principle of “unity in plurality”; reduction, detachment of the subject of the utterance from the object of the utterance; consistency, cohesion, plasticity of the language and – as a consequence – the fluidity of Russian speech. These linguistic features are confirmed by facts in the field of morphology, syntax and phonetics.

Abstract:
Abstract This chapter details Article 93 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU), which allows for the authorization of aid for the coordination of land transport. The land transport sector is not only ‘special’ when it comes to its place within EU law and state aid law in general, but also with regards to its place in services of general economic interest (SGEI). In addition to taking a special place within general Union law, state aid law, and SGEI, the transport sector ‘offers’ the further complication of being split into several different sub-sectors. Despite the recent attempts to streamline state aid rules, the transport sector remains complex and is, in and of itself, far from being harmonized. The chapter then considers the relationship of Article 93 TFEU to Articles 106, 107(1), and 108(3) TFEU.

Abstract:
Abstract This chapter discusses the Greek versions of the books of Kings. It begins with a description of the importance of the Qumran manuscripts and their discovery for understanding the Greek textual witnesses. It then proceeds to a survey of those witnesses by groups: the Hexaplaric text (Alexandrinus, mss. 247 and 346, and the Armenian), the Kaige text (Vaticanus, 121, 509), the Lucianic texts (19 82 93 108 127), and those possibly representing a Hesychian recension. The chapter also covers Chronicles and Paralipomena as witnesses to the Old Greek of Kings, the LXX’s possible exegesis of the Hebrew Masoretic Text. The remaining sections of the chapter address the insight that the Greek versions afford into the process of composition of the books of Kings.

Abstract:
This chapter discusses subgroup A of the first group of suras. Suras 93, 94, 97, and 108 are “prekerygmatic” suras, employing psalmic language to express a personally experienced unburdening following a distressed experience of crisis, or an experience of spiritual fulfillment. A further characteristic of these texts is that within them, inner-worldly situations of lack, such as the fate of an orphan, neediness, and distress, are “lifted” by way of the provision of divine favor. These lacks gain an additional spiritual dimension through the divine nearness that compensates for them, so that their significance seems to oscillate between real and spiritual situations of lack. These suras are followed by the assurances of providence, no longer exclusively oriented toward the individual, but now also to the collective, in suras 105 and 106, the former of which shows a Psalm reference.

Khan, Saboor, Abaseen Khan, Nadia Majeed, Nasir Khan, and Saeedullah Mandokhail. "Effect of Shallow Foundation Size on Bearing Capacity of layered Soil: 3D Numerical Simulations." In 14th International Civil Engineering Conference. Trans Tech Publications Ltd, 2025. https://doi.org/10.4028/p-0v8zui.

Full text
Abstract:
The depth of the induced stresses of a rigid foundation known as significant depth, is related to the width of the foundation. The conventional bearing capacity equations can lead to significant inaccuracies if the top layer thickness is less than the significant depth of the foundation. In this study, series of 3D numerical simulation analysis on various sizes of foundation are performed. Two different soil profiles with same top layer underlain by, a) harder soil layers (Soil Profile A) and, b) weaker soil layers (Soil Profile B), were used in this study. The settlement profile showed that the settlement occurred to greater depth in soil profile B. The bearing capacity decreased significantly with increased foundation size. The bearing capacity was decreased by 85% from 108 to 16 kN/m2, and by 93% from 97 to 7 kN/m2 for foundation size of 2m×2m and 20m×20m in soil profile A, and B, respectively. The soil layers effect was more significant for large foundation size where the bearing capacity was decreased by 10 and 57 % in soil profile B for 2m×2m and 20m×20m foundation sizes respectively. The study emphasizes the need of incorporating the soil proper up to depth equal two times the foundation size.

In ASME 1993 International Gas Turbine and Aeroengine Congress and Exposition. American Society of Mechanical Engineers, 1993. http://dx.doi.org/10.1115/93-gt-108.

Full text
Abstract:
In order to experimentally determine the performance characteristics of low-solidity cascade diffusers, three kinds of diffusers, a vaneless diffuser, a single and a tandem low-solidity cascade diffuser were attached to a medium specific speed centrifugal compressor stage and tested on a closed-loop test stand. The three-dimensional incompressible viscous flow analysis method, which had recently been established in our laboratory, was used to calculate the internal flow conditions inside of these diffusers. Both the single and tandem low-solidity cascade diffusers performed better than the vaneless diffuser. In particular, the tandem low-solidity cascade diffuser showed an increase in static pressure recovery coefficient of greater than 15% at the design point, and an increase greater than 40% at the lower flow rate, as compared with the pressure recovery of a vaneless diffuser. The total-to-static overall compressor stage efficiency was improved by 4% to 10% from 100% to 70% flow rate by using the tandem diffuser. The measured blade to blade static pressure distribution inside the low-solidity cascade diffusers was compared with the numerical results obtained via 3D viscous incompressible flow analysis, and the authors found that the static pressure recovery was qualitatively well predicted by this flow analysis method.

Abstract:
A 39-year-old 75 kg man with Type I Glanzmann's thrombasthenia developed recurring severe therapy-refractory nosebleeds, associated with nasal septal deformity, synechial scarring, and previous radiotherapy. During a 21 month period he required 16 hospitalizations for treatment of severe epistaxis. At initial hospitalization it was observed that his epistaxis ceased shortly after transfusion of 10 bags (units) of plasma cryoprecipitate (cryo), although transfusion with HLA-matched apheresis platelets from 3 donors, and topical therapy (cautery, packing), had been ineffective. Serum anti-platelet antibodies were not detectable by indirect immunofluorescence. During 9 subsequent hospitalizations his epistaxis stopped promptly (usually within 1 hour) following cryo transfusion (10 or 20 bags), including 6 occasions when cryo was the only therapy. On 6 additional occasions his epistaxis did not stop following cryo transfusion, but did stop after subsequent platelet transfusions or topical therapy. Eventually he underwent nasal septal reconstructive surgery surgery, and severe epistaxis has not recurred. Hemostatic studies, before and after cryo transfusions on 5 occasions, did not show improvement of platelet aggregation defects nor of Ivy bleeding times, although occasionally the volume of blood emanating from bleeding time punctures appeared decreased following cryo transfusion. Platelet glycoprotein (GP) IIb/IIIa antigen was measured in aliquots of 10 of the pools of cryo received by the patient (representing 100 bags of total volume 2200 ml), using an immunoradiometric assay (Nichols et al, Blood 68:300a, 1986). On average, the transfused cryo pools contained GP IIb/IIIa equivalent to 1.1 x 108 platelets/ml (range 0.6-1.7 x 108/ml. Our recently reported studies of blood bank cryo documented similar GP IIb/IIIa levels, and revealed that >93% of GP IIb/IIIa in cryo is present in the form of sedimentable membranous platelet macroparticles and microparticles. We hypothesize that the GPIIb/IIla-bearing platelet particles in transfused cryo might account for the improvement in hemostasis we frequently observed. We conclude that cryo transfusion deserves further study as a potentially useful therapeutic adjunct in promoting hemostasis in individuals with Glanzmann's thrombasthenia.

Full text
Abstract:
The landscapes we see today in northern Canada are the results of the dynamics of former continental glaciations of the Quaternary. As the environment evolved with the cyclic growth and decay of ice sheets, it is paramount to understand the history of these glacial cycles to provide a robust framework for geological and environmental studies. Much is known about these glaciations in southern Canada, but in northern Canada, extensive regions remain poorly studied because of their remoteness and hence knowledge of past glaciations there remains somewhat limited. West-central Keewatin, for example, critically lacks field data on glacial geology in many sectors. Hence, as part of the GEM-GeoNorth West-central Keewatin Glacial Activity, field investigations on the glacial geology around Lake Dubawnt in mainland Nunavut were undertaken in 2023. Here, we detail the field methodology used to compile geospatial information and measurements of ice-flow indicators, and to collect till, bedrock, boulder and sediment samples for terrestrial cosmogenic nuclide and luminescence dating. A total of 111 ground observation sites were visited, including the collection of 108 ice-flow measurements and 93 samples. Preliminary interpretations of the relative chronology and spatial relationship of iceflow indicators suggest that several distinct major ice-flow phases have impacted the region. These interpretations will be complemented with the upcoming results from till compositional data and geochronological analyses. The new field datasets will be used along with remote geomorphological mapping to improve the regional glacial history and enhance success of land-resource based decisions in this part of northern Canada.
