More than 4700 nominal family-group names (including names for fossils and ichnotaxa) are nomenclaturally available in the order Coleoptera. Since each family-group name is based on the concept of its type genus, we argue that the stability of names used for the classification of beetles depends on accurate nomenclatural data for each type genus. Following a review of taxonomic literature, with a focus on works that potentially contain type species designations, we provide a synthesis of nomenclatural data associated with the type genus of each nomenclaturally available family-group name in Co

Abstract Glycogen synthase kinase 3 beta (GSK3β) is a critical protein kinase that phosphorylates numerous proteins in cells and thereby impacts multiple pathways including the β-Catenin/TCF/LEF-1 pathway. MicroRNAs (miRs) are a class of noncoding small RNAs of ∼22 nucleotides in length. Both GSK3β and miR play myriad roles in cell functions including stem cell development, apoptosis, embryogenesis and tumorigenesis. Here we show that GSK3β inhibits the expression of miR-96, miR-182 and miR-183 through the β-Catenin/TCF/LEF-1 pathway. Knockout of GSK3β in mouse embryonic fibroblast cells incre

Macrophages (Mϕ) are an important component of the innate immune system; they play critical roles in the first line of defense to pathogen invasion and modulate adaptive immunity. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are a newly recognized, important level of gene expression regulation. However, their roles in the regulation of Mϕ and the immune system are still not fully understood. In this report, we provide evidence that the conserved miR-183/96/182 cluster (miR-183/96/182) modulates Mϕ function in their production of reactive nitrogen (RNS) and oxygen species (ROS) and their inflammatory response to Pseudom

Abstract PWSCC testing of Alloy 182 and 152 welds was conducted using 1/2 compact tension (CT) specimens at 325 ℃ in simulated primary water environments of a PWR, and a surface oxidation test using plate specimens was conducted in the same autoclave for 3600 hours. The average measured crack growth rate of Alloy 182 was found to be 1.0 x 10-7 mm/s, while that of Alloy 152 was 2.4 x 10-9 mm/s at K = 30 MPa√m. The cracking of Alloy 182 showed a purely intergranular aspect, and it was revealed from a microscopic investigation that oxygen diffused into the grain boundaries from the external prima

Experiments were performed on compact tension specimens of Inconel 182 weld metal to determine susceptibility to interdendritic stress corrosion cracking in 288°C water. Crack growth rates were measured using a reversing dc potential drop technique as a function of heat treatment (as-deposited vs 621°C / 24 hour plus 400°C / 200 hour heat treatment), oxygen concentration (7000, 200 and about 10 ppb), water purity (0.1 to 1 µS/cm, controlled by sulfuric acid and sodium sulfate addition) and loading condition. Abstract The behaviour of an inhibitor at various temperatures has been investigated using the scheme of the polarization resistance evaluated with the approximate calculation of the value of the First derivative of the function i = i(E) at E=Ec. The experimental measurements were carried out using the SOFTCOR-DC-PS1 program whose main characteristics are illustrated. The inhibitor effectiveness is defined and the methods allowing its determination are briefly discussed. Abstract The environmentally-assisted cracking (EAC) behavior of Alloy 182 weld in 0.05 M hydrochloric acid solution was investigated by employing slow strain rate testing (SSRT) technique. The potentials applied during SSRT at a strain rate of 8.3 x 10-7 s-1 were controlled at cathodic, active-to-passive transition, passive and transpassive potential regions, respectively. The experimental results showed that Alloy 182 weld was most susceptible to cracking in 0.05 M hydrochloric acid solution under cathodic polarization condition. Recent industry experience is showing that modern lower grade steels (X60 to X70) are not having the same fracture behavior as older steels of the same grade. As a major consequence, past material qualification test methods may be no longer valid for these new steels and may not provide safe design guidance, both for the evaluation of the brittle to ductile transition temperature and for the prediction of ductile fracture arrest requirements.
