Abstract:
In graphic design, colours can be used to communicate a message and attract attention. In book design, colours convey the content, just like they communicate the product’s information in packaging design. The purpose of this study is to analyse how colours have been used on book covers to convey the content, within the topic of health. A quantitative content analysis was made on the book covers of the top 11 bestsellers in Sweden. The colour theory analysis is based on Shigenobu Kobayashi’s work in Colour image scale. The result found that neutral hue was the one that was most commonly used. Additionally, the analysis revealed some correlation between the book content and the colour combination on the book covers. For example, a book related to finding happiness had a colour combination that matches a casual and natural lifestyle. Although the analysis offered some insight within the subject of colour and book design, further studies are needed in order to understand the extent of how colours are being used towards communicating the content.

Abstract:
The purpose of this study was to test the usefulness of The Color Book in facilitating interactions between an interviewer and a child. Interviews employing The Color Book were compared with interviews in which no art materials were used. More specifically the question of whether the length of utterances, number of emotional words used and statements about self by the subjects differed between groups using the Color Book and interviews without art materials. Subjects were forty grade school age children attending public schools. Twenty had previously been classified as behaviorally disordered and the other twenty had no such classification. Half of each group was interviewed without art materials. Interviews were conducted by graduate students in Psychology with experience in interviewing techniques. A twenty minute segment of the audiotaped interview was analyzed for the subject's mean length of utterance, number of times an emotion word or phrase was used and the number of times the subject used the words "I", "Me", "My" and "Mine". Two-way analysis of variance failed to detect any significant differences in these variables due the effect of the interviewing conditions.

This research is about the 1960 decade, contextualized by a revolutionary atmosphere of the social, political, ideological and cultural standpoint. Viljoen, Jeanne-Marie. "Playing with the subject : writing in The Pillow Book and in In the Penal Colony." Diss., University of Pretoria, 2010. http://hdl.handle.net/2263/27234.

Full text
Abstract:
This study explores the nature of writing and the sorts of presence that writing gives us access to. This understanding of writing includes not only all speaking and all writing in the narrow sense of marks on a page, but goes beyond this to include the sense in which Derrida uses the term ‘writing’ in Of Grammatology, to mean a broad and complex process of the construction of textual traces or presences necessarily brought about through the structural mechanism of difference inherent in the writing process (Derrida, 1997). This study argues that writing is a system that creates Subjects or selves as the writing happens. It suggests that writing is a remarkable site from which to explore the construction of selves, because it gives us access to (partially) identifiable presences, in the apparent absence of the writer. It goes on to demonstrate that this identity can be distinguished through written traces of difference left for the reader to decipher, by analysing different aspects of the plot and writing devices in Peter Greenaway’s film The Pillow Book and in Kafka’s short story In the Penal Colony. These two texts are considered particularly relevant to this study, in that they both explicitly deal with the contradictory nature of writing and how it relates to the Being (there or the contextualised Being of Dasein) and being (in general), the life and death, the empowerment and destruction of the Subjects that writing sets up. Both texts explore salient aspects of writing on the human body. The study uses these texts as a platform for speculation about the kind of presence that can be traced through writing, and proposes that the written Subject is multiple, contradictory and reflexive, connected and related, and that it is impermanent and has a deferred presence. Finally, this written Subject is also explored in the context of Foucault’s expositions of the self in texts such as Technologies of the self (Foucault, 1994) and ‘What is an Author?’ (Foucault, 1977) in answer to his question Who are we in the present, what is this fragile moment from which we can’t detach our identity and which will carry our identity away with itself? Kane, Julia Frances. "Colors of Kuiper Belt objects : the relationship between KBO colors and Kuiper Belt plane inclination." Thesis, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 2006. http://hdl.handle.net/1721.1/37279.

Abstract:
Thesis (S.M.)--Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Dept. of Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary Sciences, 2006.<br>Includes bibliographical references (p. 39-41).<br>A large population of small, icy bodies orbits the sun just beyond Neptune, known as the Kuiper Belt. These objects, thought to be the progenitors of short period comets, could provide a sample of primordial material in our solar system, constraining solar system formation models. The colors of Kuiper belt objects (KBOs) can indicate different surface compositions, environmental conditions, or formation characteristics within the Kuiper Belt. Data from the Deep Ecliptic Survey (DES, Millis et al. 2002) have been used to determine the plane of the Kuiper Belt, identifying "core" and "halo" populations with respect to this plane (Elliot et al. 2005). By comparing the colors of objects as a function of inclination, trends can be established distinguishing the core and halo populations. Sloan g', r' and i' observations were obtained from the 6.5-m Clay telescope at Las Campanas Observatory of 14 KBOs, which were combined with previously published data to examine the transition between these two populations as a function of color. For inclination bins containing equal numbers of KBOs, the percentage of red objects (B-R > 1.56, where B-R = 1.56 is the median of the sample) decreases with increasing inclination in a smooth, but nonlinear fashion.<br>(cont.) This steady decrease could imply that the objects at lower inclinations are less perturbed than those at higher inclinations, resulting in redder surfaces. Additionally, the objects at lower inclinations could represent a primordial population of objects, available to study and to constrain the formation models of the solar system.<br>by Julia Frances Kane.<br>S.M.

Abstract:
This dissertation contains seven works from the last 5 years, from solo works to large ensemble, as well as works with electronics. Composing for me is the result of an imaginative attitude, an alert intuition and a suitable use of technique. It originates from reality, followed by singling out one or more musical ideas, and ends up, as Gustav Mahler puts it, in "building a new world with every available technical means." What drives my compositional interests, and represents the core of the works presented here, is the desire to shape and reify these musical worlds. I strive to find and detail the qualities of these worlds through an approach to composition that is based on "sculpting" gestures, figures and colors, contextualized in a form that is as controlled and thoughtful as possible. I also pursue a distinctive vision of the relationship between microtonal and tempered harmony, mixing the two in a harmonic domain that produces an extremely attractive and worth exploring musical ambiguity, enriched by a systematic approach to timbre. This dissertation offers different examples on this exploration, where musical parameters from an ever-changing palette as well as extra-musical element such as visual arts and literature contribute in offering an image of the gradual unfolding of my "voice," a search that is the core of my daily composing and represents a never-ending process. N.B. One of the works, Winds, is a solo electronic multi-channel soundfile, and a paper version of the works does not exist and cannot be included.<br>Music

Consequently, the construction of facilities which serve as the end-product of that fight, prisons, has become one of the nation's fastest growing industries as well. The architecture of those facilities, which logically would fall somewhere in the middle, has yet to catch up. The intention of this project is to begin to explore the possibility for architecture within the context of the prison. It investigates ideas of space-making within a building which combines programmatic complexity with a requirement for security and control. It addresses notions of individual versus collective within the culture of the prison. Abstract:
Statistical graphics are often augmented by the use of color coding information contained in some variable. When this involves the shading of areas (and not only points or lines) - e.g., as in bar plots, pie charts, mosaic displays or heatmaps - it is important that the colors are perceptually based and do not introduce optical illusions or systematic bias. Here, we discuss how the perceptually-based Hue-Chroma-Luminance (HCL) color space can be used for deriving suitable color palettes for coding categorical data (qualitative palettes) and numerical variables (sequential and diverging palettes).<br>Series: Research Report Series / Department of Statistics and Mathematics

Abstract:
Color is used in everything we see and do and it often can be used for effect and representation, particularly on maps and transportation signage. This study explores the issues that the color blind population exhibits when viewing these maps and signs. Seeing that 8%#37; of the male population is afflicted with some form of color blindness, it is pertinent that research reflect these issues and take into consideration the Right to Receive Information for this population. A qualitative method using Photovoice and interviews was used to determine whether this population considers itself having a disability and what solutions can be found to assist with issues of seeing colors on transportation maps and signage. Results show that although half of the participants feel they have a disability, they do not want to be categorized with other disabilities or have restrictions placed on them. The overall consensus regarding maps was to use less colors and simplify. One solution to the issue of being able to read maps and signage was to instill the ColorADD Symbol System in the U.S. comprehensively. This study provides insight to the issues faced by the color blind population regarding Right to Receive Information for maps and signage, including alternate solutions to providing color blind people with sufficient materials. The significance of this research can be used to provide safer transportation signage for driving and better maps for traveling.

Gonçalves, Bárbara Bellaver. "A quantum physics approach for simulating agate colors." reponame:Biblioteca Digital de Teses e Dissertações da UFRGS, 2012. http://hdl.handle.net/10183/70235.

Full text
Abstract:
In the case of minerals, the presence of a given impurity, or a variation of its concentration, can cause some materials to experience dramatic changes in color. For instance, while pure quartz is transparent, amethyst is a violet type of quartz, whose color is determined by the presence of traces of iron. The amount of iron defines the perceived hue. The color presented by a mineral can be determined based on its absorption spectrum. However, defining all possible variations is impractical and, therefore, such information is available only for a subset of the existing minerals. This thesis presents an approach for simulating the colors of existent agates, as well as for predicting the colors for (non-existent) synthetic ones. The approach is based on the fundamentals of quantum theory, and starts with the description of the silica molecule one wants to simulate. One can add different amounts of impurities, and alter the number of atoms included in the simulation. The obtained result is the absorption spectra of the mineral, which can then be used for determining the color of the agate with the desired composition. Although a detailed simulation of the entire process is extremely computationally-expensive, the thesis presents some results that corroborate the correctness of the proposed solution. It also introduces a standalone technique for defining agate volumes based on 2D images of agates.

Abstract:
Thesis advisor: Susan A. Michalczyk<br>Children's literature possesses the power to crumble walls of prejudice, open the mind to unlimited possibilities and perhaps most importantly, entertain children whatever their race, age or social status. Many people have such fond memories of the books they read as children that, should you demand of any American college student what his favorite book was as a child, and he will find it difficult to narrow his selection down to just one. Ask any American child what her favorite movie during childhood and inherently nine out of ten children will choose a movie made by Walt Disney. Indeed literature and the stories of childhood play an important role in the intellectual and psychological development of human beings. During childhood, the literature children read and have read to them often lay the seeds for their future views of themselves and the world. If this were the case, then how much caution should be taken with the themes of these books? Children's literature is defined as "books that are good for children, written with their general necessities and entertainment in mind." The “goodness” of these books is determined not only in their vivid creativity and wildly imaginative stories, but as well in the long lasting lessons they impart upon the children who read them. These books give a child a glimpse into distant lands far away from the suburb they live in or the city in whose parks they play every day. As well, literature can also cultivate cultural prejudices and stereotypes that can either damage a child's developing psyche or improve it. From its inception, children's literature has always been meant to shape and mold children to the will of society. The questions remains to be answered, if literature holds such power over us, then what control should responsible publishers, teachers, librarians and parents exercise in determining what their children should be reading? Where does one draw the line between education and politics in the world of children's literature? In order to fully examine this question and comprehend its implications, one must first examine the history of children's literature and what it originally desired to achieve. Then, once the evolution has been traced, one can analyze the future and determine where the shifts that have occurred in children's literature throughout the eras are leading us in the years to follow<br>Thesis (BA) — Boston College, 2003<br>Submitted to: Boston College. Abstract:
Our world is made up by millions of colors. Everywhere we go we see a variation of colors that describes the environment. Artists use colors to give an emotion to the viewer and give a deeper meaning to the art. Companies have different colors in their logos and on their websites. For example, a red colored logo can give a feeling of passion, energy and power. But used in a different situation, a red color can implicate dangerand death. The research about colors goes very deep, but there is still alot that has not been tested or discovered. This study will examine whether companies can use colors to mediate the right feeling to their customers. The method to do this included a lot of theoretical background and knowledge about colors. When data was collected a mid-fi prototype of a website was created. This mid-fi website was then transformed into three different high-fi prototypes. The three prototypes had the same content but what put them apart was their color schemes. The tests was done face to face or over the internet. The test person had to answer a short questionnaire were the person described the feelings that appeared when using the three different prototypes. After the test a short interview with each test person took place were some expressions from the test was discussed. The result for the first and second website showed a correlation between the two websites. The users had similar answers on these websites, but they also had some comments that separated the websites. The second website was in the end the most popular website which supported the hypothesis. The conclusion from the study is that colors are a very powerful tool to use if a company wants to attract more customers. This was a quite small study and to draw the conclusion that the right colors actually gives more clicks on a website, a larger and longer study must be made. This is so that the study can compare previous years sales with the year werethey introduced the new color scheme.

Estas formas de intersección culturalmente elaboradas implican el cuerpo mismo de los músicos, generando nuevas configuraciones perceptivas.<br>In the Andean fiesta music is as much intended to be seen as it is to be heard. The analysis of the articulations that indigenous peasants of sucre (Bolivia) construct among sounds, movements and colors reveals an original organization of sensitive experience that is as much characterized by its sensory depth as it is by the ways it is linked to other domains of knowledge. The forms of culturally elaborated intersections that occur in the body of the musician lead to new perceptive configurations.

Kerr, Jeremy William. "On the Number of Colors in Quandle Knot Colorings." Scholar Commons, 2016. http://scholarcommons.usf.edu/etd/6103.

Abstract:
A major question in Knot Theory concerns the process of trying to determine when two knots are different. A knot invariant is a quantity (number, polynomial, group, etc.) that does not change by continuous deformation of the knot. One of the simplest invariant of knots is colorability. In this thesis, we study Fox colorings of knots and knots that are colored by linear Alexander quandles. In recent years, there has been an interest in reducing Fox colorings to a minimum number of colors. We prove that any Fox coloring of a 13-colorable knot has a diagram that uses exactly five colors. The ideas behind the reduction of colors in a Fox coloring is extended to knots colored by linear Alexander quandles. Thus, we prove that any knot colored by either the linear Alexander quandle Z5[t]/(t − 2) or Z5[t]/(t − 3) has a diagram using only four colors.

Abstract:
Creating digital 3D models requires significant time and effort, even by experienced users. Tools such as 3D mice, motion capture cameras, and graphics tablets can make the creation process less tedious, but are generally not available to the average person. In this thesis I introduce Flying Colors - an application prototype for tablet computers, that lets the user create 3D sketches (simple 3D wireframe models) using a novel multitouch interface.  This thesis covers the iterative process of designing and developing Flying Colors, as well evaluating it, using variousevaluation methods. The final user study consists of a modified version ofPictionary, in which SketchUp is used as a point of reference,to measure the performance of Flying Colors. On average, it takes about the same amount of time to complete a task with Flying Colors, as with SketchUp. However, the Flying Colors data has a lower standard deviation, suggesting a more consistent performance. This reflects the subjective user feedback, which generally points towards a positive user experience with Flying Colors.

Abstract:
碩士<br>銘傳大學<br>設計創作研究所碩士班<br>94<br>This creative research discussed the color perception of elementary school students by analyzing past studies, and tried to apply it to the practical creation of children’s picture books. The main purpose is to make children gain the spiritual inspiration and experience of beauties of colors, and build up aesthetic concepts by the color expression of this picture book. The theme and idea of this work is to use the seven colors of rainbow (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and purple) as the basics for the visual development of this picture book, different color context represents the experiences of a long-term flight of a bird, like a colorful adventure. It shows the beauties and changes of hues with pleasant tempo, romantic tone and fantastic description. This creative research wants to discuss the development of children’s color perception in both biological and psychological ways. The conclusion from the practical design is that,1. because the color perception of a child differs from an adult, the needs of children must be seen and the subject matters of adults can’t be over-emphasized in the color planning of the children picture book.2. In the creating process, the elements like lines, shapes, texture and space should not affect the color range. 3. The facility of screenplay of the illustrations is the key point when viewing the visual change of hues. 4.The hand-drawing style can show the artistic beauties and the details of the fertilities of hues better. The use of colors should achieve the unity. 5.In the content of the text, instead of intense and negative content that might go out of the focus, simple character and content that might increase the visual interest can raise positive color image.

Abstract:
With shows such as Big Bang Theory and the increased mainstreaming of San Diego Comic-con, now more than ever before, it is acceptable to be a “nerd”. The question now becomes what efforts are being made to appeal to fans of color in traditional “nerd” activities, specifically comic books (this can include television shows and movies based on comic book characters), anime, and science fiction. Throughout the decades, there have been various attempts to have a discourse about the lack of diversity in nerd culture, both among its creators and characters from various properties considered beloved to nerds. Only, at the time of this writing, in recent years does there seem to be an increase among fans of color discussing these issues in the world at large, and not just in their own social group(s). This research will discover how minority fans feel about representation, or lack thereof, in the three above fandom. It will examine how minority fans feel about specific instants involving race and ethnicity in fandom from the past year. What I have discovered is that, issues of race are not discussed among the majority of fans and creators. Occasionally, when such issues are discussed there is an amount of hostility from white fans.

Abstract:
碩士<br>國立臺灣藝術大學<br>多媒體動畫藝術學系動畫藝術碩士班<br>102<br>The work,“ Color Man”, sets a picture book style that uses colors to convey the plot of a story. By incorporating static and dynamic images with 3D animation, this work demonstrates how a picture book can also be presented in a nonlinear fashion. Using colors to express conflict through a pluralistic and inclusive perspective, “Color Man” establishes a narrative about a fictitious planet that only knows white and black, or good and bad. The protagonist, A Mao, is a child who hides his vivid expressions by wearing a hat to fit in with the rest of the planet’s population. Driven to insanity by those around him, A Mao bangs his head against the floor until blood gushes out of it. The blood merges with nature to create unprecedented colors that bestow A Mao with the ability to feel emotions. Following this, he decides to share these colors with the rest of the planet so that others may feel what he is feeling. In the end, the black and white planet is transformed into a colorful one. The data gathered and compiled for this literature review can be categorized into three sections. Section one opens a discussion on the aesthetics and characteristics of picture books, animations in electronic picture books, and animated films adapted from picture books. The discussion provides an analysis of the process used to create animated picture books by comparing a picture book before and after animations are applied. Section two serves as a discussion on the effect of colors on a narrative. A few examples of animated stories that are told through the use of color ambience are provided. Section three elaborates on the creative concepts and methods used in “Color Man”. The final section will include findings to reach its conclusion.

Abstract:
碩士<br>中國文化大學<br>資訊傳播學系<br>100<br>Human beings get information and knowledge by reading, which is a complex mind processing that can affect us both physically and mentally. Different types of reading patterns have been documented to explain human reading behaviors. The layout of a text, for example, has been found to have an influence on how it is received and comprehended. This study is an investigation of the legibility of the various layout arrangements of e-book titles: whether they have an effect on the physical activities of eyes, such as fixation duration, saccadic amplitude, and the number of times the eye blinks. The experiment was conducted in the laboratory and utilized eye tracking method. An eye tracker was used to precisely record eye fixation and fixation duration. In the experiment the color combinations used to present the virtual title and its background come from seven colors: four basic ones (red, blue, green, and yellow) based on the NCS system and three additional colors (black, grey, and white). The study began with a pre-procedure Likert Scale survey, which involves the presentation of twenty-four types of layout to art editors and text editing experts for the purpose of finding out two most frequently used layout types. Then a pilot study was conducted to determine the procedure and the stimuli to be employed in the formal experiment. It was found that directions of the text layout (horizontal and vertical) had no significant effect on text legibility. Therefore, the finalized design of the study includes (a) the presentation of the title in two types of fonts (i.e., the clear type and the bold type) and (b) the use of thirty sets of color combination, instead of thirty-four, to show the title text and its background because the latter took too much time. The purpose of the study was to assess the effects of font types and color combinations of e-book titles on reading time, fixation duration, saccadic amplitude, and blink frequency and thus on text legibility. The results of the study showed that font types and directions of the text layout had no influence on text legibility. Color combinations of words and their background have significant effects on text legibility. Generally speaking, color combinations that are more legible are white text on black background, white text on blue background, red text on grey background, and green text on white background. Color combinations that are less legible are green text on grey background, grey text on green background, blue text on grey background, and yellow text on white background, which, low in luminance contrast, should be avoided in the designing of the title.

Abstract:
碩士<br>國立臺南大學<br>動畫媒體設計研究所<br>102<br>A good picture book always catches your eyes and the attractive points are often transferred into animation that is adapted from picture books. Advantages of the picture book such as high artistry, wonderful stories, the conceptual similarities to animation creation and the existing loyal audience make picture book important sources for the production of animations. However there is not many academic researches which discuss the issues about the adaptation of picture books into animations. There are two major conceptual discussions in this study. The first one is to understand how to transform and to decide what elements can be used in animation to express the original emotional atmosphere. In order to do this, an analysis has to be executed to transform narrative from a static form into a dynamic form. We proposed several guidelines including the cause-and-effects relationship between picture books and the adapted animations, the corresponding of basic story structure in the both media forms, the completion of character settings and the representation of the original atmosphere. The second research topic in this study is to investigate the possibility that the richer color can be presented in animations beyond the picture books. In the case studies, we found that color tone and contrast establish the purpose of the narrative. In other words, it is to create emotional atmosphere and influence audience’s emotion for them to engage the story. In this project, an animation named” The Gift of Color “adapted from a picture book was produced. This study also focuses on how to adapt rich story content of the picture book into the animation production and the application of the analyzed guidelines about color into the narrative of animation. study.

Abstract:
Abstract Warning Colors by Robert McClure Warning Colors is a piece for orchestra scored for three flutes (second flute doubling alto flute in G and third flute doubling piccolo), two oboes, one english horn in F, two clarinets in Bb, one bass clarinet in Bb, three bassoons, four horns in F, three trumpets in C, two tenor trombones, one bass trombone, tuba, timpani, three percussion, harp, piano doubling celeste, and strings. The title is a phrase used in evolutionary biology in relation to the behavior of mimicry which is the core musical concept of the work. While writing a piece called Desert Miniatures: Insects for three bassoons in the summer of 2012, I learned about a butterfly, the Arizona Red Spotted Purple from the Sonoran Desert in Arizona which employs mimicry. The physical appearance of the butterfly has evolved to resemble another, noxious species of butterfly in the region, the Pipevine Swallowtail. The Red Spotted Purple is attacked far less because it has developed similar warning colors to the Swallowtail that predators have learned to recognize and avoid. Warning Colors employs three types of musical mimicry. The first is harmonic mimicry in which a stable harmony is presented in either the winds or brass. The strings mimic the harmony by sliding around it using microtones. These moments of harmonic mimicry serve as structural pillars. Second, rhythmic mimicry occurs when a melody or line is performed simultaneously against itself, the mimicking melody having different rhythmic values. The two lines intertwine rhythmically, come into unison, and break away from each other in a heterophonic texture. The third, melodic mimicry, occurs when two or more lines mimic a source by matching its contour. However, these mimics are not the product of a simple transposition because they retain their own internal intervallic characteristics. The concept of mimicry informed many of the musical characteristics displayed and heard in Warning Colors.

Abstract:
碩士<br>中國文化大學<br>藝術研究所<br>94<br>Painting is a visual art which requires the presentations of shapes and colors. The applications of colors are essential in this regard. In Chinese paintings, there are five tints of ink color. This theory has established the aesthetic standards for traditional Chinese paintings. As the tints of colors appearing in between are considered to augment the ink expressions or explain the subject matters, the use and development of colors has been long neglected. However, if we expand our time horizon to the overall development of art history all over the world, we notice that the pottery decorated with color drawings of the New Stone Age in China, painted lacquer and silk-cloth paintings of the Han Dynasty, silk paintings of the Tang Dynasty and Sung Dynasty, wall paintings of ancient Egypt and colored potters of Greece are all evidence of the interaction of colors and ink tints. With the advancements of the times, there is a growing variety in such interactions and the concepts of color applications have come a long way. Color and light have become the two major elements of the paintings. Colors dance around in the paintings and live side by side with ink tints. The water inks absorb the nutrients of the colors and demonstrate the flavors of their times. At that time, the Chinese paintings have developed a subjective way of visualization of inks and colors. The development of colors has been pushing further the space for expressions as color and ink tints transcend senses from the perceptions of senses. Materials are merely tools to express the outer images of the subject matters. This paper examines the concept of the fusion between colors and ink tints. In addition to the definition of the combination of colors and inks, this paper studies and explores the “colors” of Chinese paintings and glue color paintings by incorporating the flairs of our times into traditional paintings. This paper hopes to extract essences from the experience of past generations in order to serve as reference for personal creative arts. Keywords: Ink, color, glue color painting, fusion

Abstract:
碩士<br>中國文化大學<br>藝術研究所<br>90<br>Bonnard, one of the well-prestigious French artists in late 19th, had been strongly affected by Gauguin and Japanese Print during his early study in Paris. He later on joined the Nabis and turned his painting style back to the Impressionism. “The Fancy Colors:Bonnard ” the theme of this thesis, is based on his works that focus on ordinary lives as well as the intimacy among people. More often than not, the above-motioned works display the charm of color variation, which is the key element in his painting. The thesis begins with an introduction of Bonnard. His acquaintance with Gauguin in 1888, contributed to the scenery work “ The Talismas.” The central idea of the work brought birth to the Nabis and is highly influential to their aesthetics view originated from Serusier. Apart from the impact of Gauguin in Bonnard’s works, it is also noteworthy that his creation and style had been strongly affected by color analysis of the Impressionism as well as characteristics of Japanese Print. He put effort in observing, note taking, recalling, and imagining in order to catch the most original idea that flash along so that personal emotions could possibly be expressed through the vein of images and colors. All these may illustrate why his painting motifs have been closed to the deep feelings in the real world. As stated above, this thesis starts from Bonnard and adopts a color viewpoint focus on sensible expression. It is hoped that the author’s creation concept could be conveyed in combination with actual artistic creation.
