Two subterranean termite species were subjected to combinations of six temperatures (10°, 15°, 20°, 25°, 30°, or 35°C) and five relative humidities (RH) (55, 65, 75, 85, or 99%) to determine optimum conditions for survival. Log phase cells of Listeria monocytogenes Scott A were heat shocked in trypticase soy + 0.6% yeast extract broth at 40, 44, and 48°C for 3, 10, and 20 min, followed by heating at 55°C for 50 min in order to determine an optimum heat shock response. Different blanching treatments were applied to sliced broccoli stems prior to dehydration in order to improve product quality. The pretreatments used were a conventional blanching in water at 100°C, and a stepwise blanching using different temperatures for the first step (50, 55, 60, 65 and 70°C). In this paper we are investigating three dimensional (3-D) silicon-based microenvironments as potential platforms for breast cancer diagnostics. We have developed isotropically etched microstructures with a wide range of geometrical patterns for this purpose. Saint-Gobain has developed a unique all ceramic SOFC stack with performance characteristics that make it an attractive solution to the cost and durability challenges of commercializing conventional SOFCs. Saint-Gobain’s all ceramic stacks achieve power density higher than 200 mW/cm2 when operating at 800 °C and 0.75 V/cell.
