Abstract:
Particular characteristics are frequently assigned to homeless people by virtue of the fact they are labelled as 'the homeless'. There are numerous functions that such terms and definitions fulfil. In general, they serve to promote perceptions of people with particular characteristics as different, distinct and distanced from others in society. In addition they may obscure structural inequalities, maintain and reinforce the interests of dominant groups in society. These definitions do not develop in a vacuum, they are constructed throughout centuries within a social system. The aim of this res

This thesis investigates a contextual behavioral approach for obesity surgery patients. In a contextual approach a behavior is interpreted as inseparable from its current and historical context. Candidates for bariatric surgery often have a history of self-stigma, body dissatisfaction and eating for emotional relief. Despite losing a large amount of weight post surgery, psychological problems may still be present for some patients. One possible common underlying process observed in body concerns and eating patterns is experiential avoidance. Experiential avoidance is defined as; any attempt to

In order to understand our complex engagement with counter-moral fictions, and to assess it adequately, we must acknowledge that there are different types of counter-moral fictions. The undeciphered script of the Indus Civilisation has been an enigma from the first publication of a stamp seal with inscription in 1875. Comparative linguistic, historical and data science approaches have been utilised for over a century to decipher this script, but these remain inconclusive due to the short nature of the inscriptions and lack of bilingual texts. Scholars have suggested that a contextual, archaeological approach to considering the inscribed artefact types, materials, and other characteristics is essential to gain further insight into the purpose and use of this script.
