Introduction:Children abduction by one parent and their transport refers to a foreign country is a gradually increasing phenomenon worldwide as well as Greece. Data from the Greek Ministry of Justice show that the frequency of such incidences is up to one a day (360/year). Some but not all of these cases come to the attention of the International Social Services (Division of Greece).Method:Records of fifty (50) cases of inter family abduction were obtained. These were cases that took place during the year 2003. These records were studied and analysed. The majority of cases concerned abductions

AbstractThe mechanism of design reasoning from function to form is suggested to consist of a two-step inference of the innovative abduction type. First is an inference from a desired functional aspect to an idea, concept, or solution principle to satisfy the function. This is followed by a second innovative abduction, from the latest concept to form, structure, or mechanism. The intermediate entity in the logical reasoning, the concept, is thus made explicit, which is significant in following and understanding a specific design process, for educating designers, and to build a logic-based compu

Parental abduction of children is a little-studied psychiatric and legal problem. Interviews were conducted with 69 parents whose children had been abducted and recovered, part of a larger group who responded to a written survey in 1989. Comparison of survey and follow up interview responses revealed a process of normalizing relationships with the abducting parent. At follow up, more cases showed a pattern that involved visits between the child and the former abductor, payment of child support, and decreased fear of another abduction. In 12 cases the child was living with the former abducting

Abduction is commonly understood as a reasoning of the form: q; if p, then q therefore p. In the paper I argue that this is not only a simplification but also a distortion of Peirce's conception of abduction, since it ignores that abduction is, as Peirce explicitly claims, an induction over properties. Further, the epistemological significance of Peirce's concept of abduction is neglected as well, since abductive reasoning is almost exclusively related to the way in which one forms a scientific hypothesis, while it is overlooked that even the most elementary forms of knowledge involve abductio

In this paper, we propose a neural-based model to deal with incompatibility abduction problems. Despite the ubiquity of abduction in professional and everyday problem-solving processes, little empirical research was dedicated to investigate this type of reasoning, and most of them focused on products of abduction—abductive hypotheses. Abstract argumentation frameworks are a widely used formalism in the field of artificial intelligence. They are used to represent conflicting information by means of a set of arguments and an attack relation. The main problem studied in the literature is their evaluation, i.e., the determination of the justified points of view on the status (accepted or not) of the arguments. The research in this thesis is motivated by the idea that this is not a static process, and that there are many real life examples in which external information plays a role.
