In this study, the chemical composition of the vapor and liquid phase of Pinus cembra L., Pinus mugo Turra, Picea abies L., and Abies Alba M. needles essential oils (EOs) was investigated by Headspace-Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (HS-GC/MS). In the examined EOs, a total of twenty-eight components were identified, most of which belong to the monoterpenes family. α-Pinene (16.6–44.0%), β-pinene (7.5–44.7%), limonene (9.5–32.5%), and γ-terpinene (0.3–19.7%) were the most abundant components of the liquid phase. Such major compounds were also detected in the vapor phase of all EOs, and α-p

Abstract Comparative investigations of the genetic variation have been conducted at 8 to 10 polymorphic allozyme loci in samples of embryos and maternal plants from marginal populations of Abies alba Mill., Pinus pallasiana D. Don and Pinus sylvestris var cretacea Kalenicz. ex Kom. in Ukraine. It was found that the allele frequencies of the loci analysed were maintained in progenies of maternal plants of these populations. However, the population genotype structure of embryos was shifted towards an excess of homozygous genotypes. The highly variable loci of the maternal plants make the greates

Against the background of man-made impact on the environment, the role of landscape architecture increases. Green plantings reduce the impact of adverse factors. A special role is given to coniferous plants that perform environmental-improving functions all year round. The collection of the VNIISPK arboretum includes more than 310 species, forms and varieties of woody plants representing 31 families. The most numerous family of Pinaceae includes 5 genera, one of which is the genus Abies Mill. The purpose of the study is a comprehensive assessment of ecological and biological features of the ge

Choristoneura was proposed by Lederer (1859), with Tortrix diversana Hübner as its type species. Razowski (1992) provided a contemporary synopsis of the genus from a global perspective, including 41 species. Brown (2005) included 38 species in the genus, with 20 described from the Palearctic Region, 17 from the Nearctic Region, and one from the Afrotropical Region. The larvae of some species of Choristoneura are important forest pests. Abstract:
