Full textEste trabalho apresenta um estudo exploratório do léxico como uma proposta para a expansão do vocabulário de uma língua estrangeira, neste caso específico, da língua inglesa. Os substantivos, adjetivos e verbos são palavras que possuem um componente semântico muito forte e são enriquecidas de forma contínua à medida que acompanham o dinamismo do mundo. O conhecimento diversificado do léxico de uma língua permite que o falante de um idioma seja capaz de representar o mundo exterior, expressando seus pensamentos e comunicando-se com o outro. Este conhecimento o insere não só em sua comunidade, mas no mundo globalizado que o rodeia. Para a efetivação desta proposta, utilizaremos como ferramenta , um gênero literário que não só proporciona condições de acesso ao léxico, mas também conta com um elemento que é essencial em um processo de ensino e aprendizagem, que é o lúdico, o maravilhoso, a fantasia. Estamos falando dos Contos de Fadas. O nosso corpus, suporte deste trabalho, é constituído por três contos de fadas dos Irmãos Grimm Rumpelstiltskin, Rapunzel e Puss in Boots datados de 1812 em diante, em língua inglesa
