Molecular dynamic (MD) simulation is proven to be an important tool to study the structure as well as the physical properties at atomic level in materials science. However, it requires a huge computing time and hence limits the ability to treat a large scale simulation. In this paper we present a solution to speed up the MD simulation using CUDA technology (Compute Unified Device Architecture). We used the GeForce GTS 250 card with Version 2.30. The simulation is implemented for Lennard-Jones systems with periodic boundary conditions which consist of 1024, 2048, 4096 and 8192 atoms. The calcul

This paper presents the results of the study of a polymer filler for the “crush-core” rapid molding technology. Different formulations of the compositions, temperature regimes of curing were investigated, and the completeness of the passage of a chemical reaction under various temperature regimes was also considered. The depth of the curing reaction was separately studied in order to obtain a filler processed in a single technological cycle lasting no more than 1 hour at a temperature of 140°C, together with skins based on fiberglass prepreg.

Applications of lithium-ion batteries are widespread, ranging from electric vehicles to energy storage systems. In spite of nearly meeting the target in terms of energy density and cost, enhanced safety, lifetime, and second-life applications, there remain challenges. As a result of the difference between the electric characteristics of the cells, the degradation process is accelerated for battery packs containing many cells. The development of new generation battery solutions for transportation and grid storage with improved performance is the goal of this paper, which introduces the novel co

Based on the facts in medical images that there are many empty voxels and the near scene is more sensitive to human vision, our accelerating rendering algorithm divides the rendering process into near scene and far scene parts. An accelerated ray-casting method is adapted for rendering the near scene and a fast splatting method is adapted for rendering the far scene. The inherent coherence existed in adjacent frames is used to accelerate the navigation speed. A part of far scene of the next frame may be simply rendered by view transforming the part of far scene of the current frame.

In this master thesis report, a scheme for adaptive hardware terrain tessellation is presented. The scheme uses an offline processing approach where a height map is analyzed in terms of curvature and the result is stored in a resource called density map. This density map is then bound as a resource to the hardware tessellation stage and used to bias the tessellation factor for a given edge. The scheme is implemented inside FrostbiteTM2 by EATM DICETM and produces good results while making the heightfield rendering more efficient.
