We have found, for the first time, that Acoustically Coupling Chaos Oscillator (ACCO) also exhibits a chaotic attractor called the “double scroll Chua’s attractor” by using the modified Chua’s circuit. When each ACCO is in an oscillating periodic state, the interaction of sound waves with acoustic coupling of two ACCOs can also result in the appearance of chaotic sound waves.

A full length cDNA (caaco1) encoding a putative ACC-oxidase (ACCO) was isolated and sequenced from embryonic axes of chick-pea (Cicer arietinum L.) seeds, which depend on ethylene synthesis for germination. The deduced protein for caaco1 has a molecular weight of 36 kDa, a high homology with other ACCOs and is apparently found in the cytosolic fraction of the cell. Heterologous expression of this cDNA confirmed that the protein product exhibits ACCO activity and a molecular weight close to 38 kDa. The effect of blanching conditions on the hot-air drying kinetics of three pomegranates (cvs. “Acco”, “Herskawitz” and “Wonderful”) were assessed. Water blanching conditions considered were 90 °C for 30 s, 90 °C for 60 s, 100 °C for 30 s and 100 °C for 60 s. The drying experiments were carried out at 60 °C, 19.6% relative humidity and at a constant air velocity of 1.0 m s−1. The experimental curves were fitted to seven different drying models. Continuous measurements of wind speed, wind direction, cell inlet temperature and air flow and plant operating variables were made for several days at the El Dorado Energy Center. Abstract:
Abstract Air-cooled condensers (ACC) are commonly used for cooling applications in the petro-chemical and power generation industry. Common analysis techniques used include one-dimensional design codes, however, these fail to capture complex flow phenomena associated with ACCs subjected to adverse environmental conditions. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is seen as an alternative, more accurate analysis tool. South Africa’s coal-fired power stations use super heated steam to drive generator turbines. In arid regions, air-cooled condensers (ACCs) are used to condense the process steam. These ACCs consists of an array of over 200 axial flow fans, each driven by a motor via a reduction gearbox. Distorted fan inlet air flow conditions cause transient blade loading, which results in variations in output shaft bending and torque.
