A Solar panel is rated such that it can yield optimum output under Standard Testing Conditions (STC). But due to different environmental factors the efficiency of the panel is reduced gradually after installation. Accumulation of dust on solar PV panel is one such natural phenomenon. When dust accumulates on the PV panel, the temperature of the cells increases which subsequently decreases the open circuit voltage. The short circuit current is also reduced as deposition of dust causes shading on the panel surface. As a result, the output power of the module decreases. In this paper, the effect

Abstract:
Potassium (K) is an essential nutrient in plant metabolism, ionic balance, and stress resistance. In this study, the effects of K on agronomic attributes and on mineral and primary metabolite content in African potato were determined. K was administered hydroponically at four concentrations (4.00, 6.00, 8.00, and 10.00 meq·L−1) using Steiner’s universal nutrient solution. Chlorophyll content (CHL), leaf area (LA), fresh corm mass (FCM), number of roots (NR), root fresh weight (RFM), and root dry mass (RDM) were measured 18, 32, and 40 weeks after transplanting. Mineral analysis data were colle

Abstract In this study, the contribution of pre-treatment basins of low impact development (LID) technologies to nutrient reduction performance was evaluated by understanding the distribution of nutrient in sediments accumulated in each system. The captured sediments were mostly silt to medium sand ranging from 9% to 92% of the sediments collected. Greater average N and P concentrations were found in silt particles amounting to 345 mg/kg and 696 mg/kg, respectively compared to sand and gravel. Although, N concentrations in accumulated sediments were found to be highly variable at different par

This paper presents an analysis of the impact of delays, information management and type of demand, on the performance of a three echelons supply chain, based on the "beer game". Four scenarios of access to information on final demand for different members of the chain were developed over a system dynamics model. For each of these scenarios delivery delay times and type of demand were changed and four indicators were used to measure the supply chain performance: return on assets, accumulated income, accumulated value of inventory and service level. The results show that the location (echelon)

The use of solar energy to generate electricity on large-scale photovoltaic (PV) power plants has become a trend as a new option adopted by many countries. The optimal installation of photovoltaic power plants depends on the geographical location, which determines the irradiation, latitude, longitude, tilt angle, direction, etc., however, the photovoltaic panel is affected by many environmental parameters, which have a significant impact on energy productivity, conversion efficiency, and energy cost. Dust is one of the primary parameters affecting the performance of the photovoltaic panel, yie

Microchannel heat exchangers (MCHX) are increasingly being used in refrigeration and heat pumps due to their superior thermal-hydraulic properties. However, when the MCHX surface temperature drops below the freezing point, frost will accumulate on the fin surface, which significantly affects the heat transfer performance. In this study, a modified MCHX with extended windward fins was developed to improve the frosting performance. The thermal-hydraulic performance of the modified MCHX and conventional MCHX were compared and evaluated under frosting conditions. Results show that the extended fin

Infiltration models are used in designing and optimizing irrigation projects as they are capable of predicting infiltration rate and accumulated infiltration depth to a reasonable level of accuracy. The objective of this study deals with obtaining the parameters of infiltration models like Kostiakov and Philip, applying these models to the soil of Dediapada and evaluating their performance by comparing it with the observed infiltration. Firstly, the accumulated infiltration and infiltration rates were determined by the field measurement using a double ring infiltrometer. Kostiakov’s and Philip
