The demand for wide range and precise information on forests promotes continuous development of forest inventory methods, owing to the fact that compilation of reliable data is prerequisite not only for improving forest management schedules but also planning land use and natural environment management. In the reality of contemporary forestry, a requirement to improve forest inventory methods stems from obligation to acquire information on broadly understood issues of forestry as well as the protection of nature and environment. Abstract:
Fundamentally, measurements of the temperature and pressure within a cavern are required to estimate the gas inventory. To obtain these measurements, downhole wireline logging has been the conventional industry standard, and several calculation methods have been developed to esti-mate the gas inventory based on wireline measurements. However, wireline logs only measure the temperature at the centerline of the cavern, which requires an assumption that the temperature at the cavern centerline represents the entire gas temperature at that particular depth. If horizontal variations in temperature

Abstract:
Transportation agencies in northern environments spend a considerable amount of their budget on salt for winter operations. For example, in the state of Indiana, there are approximately 120 salt storage facilities distributed throughout the state and the state expends between 30 M USD and 60 M USD on inventory and delivery each year. Historical techniques of relying on visual estimates of salt stockpiles can be inaccurate and unhelpful for managing the supply chain during the winter or planning for re-supply during the summer months. Sanders, Suzanne, Jessica Kirschbaum, Suzanne Sanders, and Jessica Kirschbaum. Forest vegetation monitoring protocol (version 2.1): Great Lakes Inventory and Monitoring Network. National Park Service, 2024. http://dx.doi.org/10.36967/2305281.

Abstract:
Forest vegetation provides an integrated measure of terrestrial ecosystem health by expressing information about the collective suite of drivers and stressors which act upon it. These include climate, disturbance, browse, and invasive species. We developed a comprehensive forest monitoring protocol to detect change in the nine Great Lakes Network parks. Monitoring is conducted on a nine-year rotation, with each of the parks sampled over the course of one summer, once every nine years. Site locations were selected to ensure that they are random, but also spatially balanced throughout the parks.

This study presents a comprehensive vegetation mapping inventory project undertaken in Death Valley National Park (DEVA) within the National Park Service?s Mojave Desert Network (MOJN). Spanning 3.4 million acres across California and Nevada, DEVA is the largest national park in the contiguous United States. Renowned for its harsh environment?characterized by intense heat, aridity, and low elevation?DEVA encompasses a variety of landscapes, including playas, alluvial fans, sand dunes, and mountain ranges. Despite its desolate appearance, the park harbors a diverse array of vegetation, with pla

The Sonoran Desert Network (SODN) conducted an inventory, classification, and mapping of vegetation communities at Chiricahua National Monument (CHIR) from 2007 to 2011. This report is Volume I of two volumes, summarizing 29 vegetation communities (associations) identified at the monument and providing them within the context of the United States National Vegetation Classification (USNVC), the hierarchical system guiding all National Park Service (NPS) vegetation inventories. Volume II contains the full association descriptions. The project combined existing plot data with new plot-scale and l
