One of the major mechanisms that plant growth-promoting bacteria use to facilitate plant growth is through the lowering of plant ethylene levels by the bacterial enzyme 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate (ACC) deaminase. Many of the bacterial ACC deaminase genes (acdS) that have been examined to date are under the transcriptional control of a leucine-responsive regulatory protein, Lrp, encoded by acdR and referred to here as AcdR. The work presented here is focused on how AcdR and the newly discovered AcdB protein from Pseudomonas putida UW4 are involved in the regulation of acdS expression. Fi

Abstract:
We conducted a comparative analysis of biochemical parameters for the ascorbate-glutathione cycle in non-transgenic and transgenic Nicotiana tabacum, plants cultivated in heavy metal polluted soils. Transgenic plants had in their genome a bacterial acdS-gene encoding the 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase (ACC-deaminase) enzyme. The introduction of elevated concentrations of copper, chromium, and lead ions into the soil promotes induction of the acdS-gene expression and an increase in ACC-deaminase activity in transgenic plants. It was shown the content of ascorbic acid (АА), glutathi

Abstract Background The legal status of advance care directives (ACDs) in Irish law, as they pertain to current clinical practice, is a relatively new topic to healthcare staff. This project aimed to assess current understanding in non-consultant hospital doctors (NCHDs). Methods An online survey was conducted with NCHDs across a range of disciplines to ascertain current knowledge of the legal parameters of ACDs. Descriptive analysis of data was conducted in Excel. Results The survey was completed by 183 NCHDs. Of respondents 93.99% (n=172) were familiar with the term advance care directive an

Abstract:
IntroductionAdvance care planning (ACP), an ongoing communication and planning process, aims to clarify a person’s values and preferences, so these guide decision-making if the person becomes unable to make his or her own decisions. Ideally, ACP results in completion of advance care directives (ACD), documents completed by competent people outlining their values, treatment preferences and/or appointment of a substitute decision-maker (SDM). ACDs are most effective at the point of care, where they can be used to inform treatment decisions. Australian governments fund initiatives and have develo

Resident physicians need to have these conversations but often do not in their continuity clinics. Research with adult children of divorce (ACD) has contributed to literature suggesting the adverse long-term effects of parental separation and divorce. The role of the parent-child relationship following parental separation, when a parents availability and support might well be especially important for a child, particularly if there is ongoing parental conflict, has received little empirical attention and was examined here. The present investigation was designed to assess ACDs retrospective ratings of their mothersand fathers parenting in the two years following parental separation. The NDP-forming acyl-CoA synthetases (ACDs) catalyze the conversion of various CoA thioesters to the corresponding acids, conserving their chemical energy in form of ATP. The ACDs are the major energy-conserving enzymes in sugar and peptide fermentation of hyperthermophilic archaea. They are considered to be primordial enzymes of ATP synthesis in the early evolution of life. We present the first crystal structures, to our knowledge, of an ACD from the hyperthermophilic archaeonCandidatus Korachaeum cryptofilum. These structures reveal a unique arrangement of the ACD subunits alpha and beta with
