AbstractChromatographic properties of five steroid drugs: cortisone, hydrocortisone, methylprednisolone, prednisolone and norgestrel have been studied by normal-, reversed-phase and hydrophilic neutral cyano-bonded silica stationary phase with five binary mobile phases (acetonitrile-water, acetonitrile-DMSO, acetonitrile-methanol, acetone-petroleum ether, acetone-water) in which the concentration of organic modifier was varied from 0 to 100% (v/v). This study reports the optimization of steroid hormones separation. Chromatographic retention data and possible retention mechanisms are discussed.

Abstract In this work we assess and extend strategies for calculating surface tension of complex liquids from molecular dynamics simulations: the mechanical route and the instantaneous liquid interface (ILI) approach. The former employs the connection between stress tensor and surface tension, whereas the latter involves computation of instantaneous density field. Whereas the mechanical route is general, the ILI method involves system-dependent parameters restricting its original application to liquid water only. AbstractA simple external calibration liquid chromatography‐diode array detector method was developed, validated, and applied for the determination of lumefantrine (Lum) in dried blood spot (DBS) samples collected from malaria patients in Botswana. The samples were validated in accordance with the United States Food and Drug Administration guidelines for bioanalytical methods after sample preparation using solid–liquid extraction. Separation was achieved using an XTerra C18 column (50 × 4.6 mm, 5 μm), and a binary solvent system of acetonitrile and water adjusted to pH 2.3 was used as the mobi

Abstract Background Baseline separation of nonivamide (NON) and capsaicin (CAP) has not been achieved by using the existing liquid chromatography (LC) methods for the capsaicinoid analysis. This could lead to large errors in the determination of capsaicinoids for capsicum products. Objective The development of an ultrahigh-performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) method that simultaneously separates NON and CAP as well as other capsaicinoids for the routine analysis of capsaicinoids in capsicum products. Method Capsaicinoids were separated on a Waters CORTECSTM T3 Column (2.1 mm i.d. x 150 mm

Abstract Background Careful review of the scientific databases revealed that no stability-indicating analytical method is available for the binary mixture of Allopurinol (ALO) and Thioctic Acid (THA). Objective A comprehensive stability-indicating HPLC-DAD procedure has been executed for concurrent analysis of ALO and THA. Methods Successful chromatographic separation of the cited drugs was reached using Durashell C18 column (4.6 × 250 mm, 5 µm particle size). The mobile phase was comprised of a mixture of acidified water (pH 4.0) using phosphoric acid and acetonitrile pumped in gradient eluti

AbstractThis study investigated the solubility of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) in various solvents (to achieve an 8 % (w/v) polymer solution) and its impact on the morphology of electrospun PLA nanofibers. Several solvents, such as dichloromethane (DCM), chloroform (CHL), tetrahydrofuran (THF), acetone (AC), acetonitrile (ACTNR), dimethylformamide (DMF), dimethylacetamide (DMAc), ethylene glycol (ETGLY), distilled water (WATER), methanol (MEOH), formic acid (FA), and n‐hexane (NHX) were used in their pure and binary forms at several ratios (4 : 1, 2 : 1, 1 : 1, 1 : 2, 1 : 3, and 1 : 4). Stability constants are measured for complexes of Pb2+, Zn2+, Sr2+ and Mg2+ with 2-amino pyrimidine (AMPYM) in pure water and water-acetonitrile binary solvent systems at 298.15, 308.15 and 318.15 K by conductometric method. The results shows that the stoichiometry of the complexes of AMPYM with all investigated metal ions in all binary solvent systems is 1:2 [ML2]. The log Kf values of M2+-AMPYM complexes in H2O-ACN binary solvent systems decreases with increasing % of ACN and increased with the increase in percentage of water and also with increase in temperature.
