Abstract:
The first detailed description of adults of Achipteria setulosa Golosova, 1981 with illustrations are provided, based on materials from central Japan. This species is placed in the subgenus Achipteria (Izuachipteria) Balogh & Mahunka, 1979. In addition, the species grouping of the known species in the genus Achipteria is briefly discussed, and three species-groups are proposed based on the structure of the lamellar complex. Furthermore, data on distribution, diversity and habitat ecology of all known species of Achipteriidae in Japan are presented, and a key is provided for the identificat

Abstract:
The morphological ontogeny of Achipteria magna (Sellnick, 1928) is described and illustrated. The adult of this species has many morphological characters of Achipteria Berlese, 1885, such as long and wide lamellae, fused in the medial part, long anterior pteromorphic projections, and 10 pairs of notogastral setae, with longer c2 and la. However, this species has many fine pores on the notogaster and a pair of saccules S1, instead of four pairs of saccules or porose areas that occur in most species of Achipteria. In A. magna, anteroventral apophysis on genua I and II is present, genu IV is long

Abstract:
The morphological ontogeny of Achipteria nitens (Nicolet, 1855) from Crimea peninsula is redescribed and illustrated, and ecology and some biological parameters of this species are investigated. The larva of this species has short, thick and barbed setae in and of c-series, and anterior part of prodorsum reticulate, whereas the nymphs have most gastronotal setae of medium size and barbed, except for shorter c3, and shorter, thick and smooth p2 and p3. A key to the larva and nymphs of eight species of Achipteria Berlese, 1885 is provided.

Abstract:
Achipteria sgardelisi sp. nov. and its morphological ontogeny is described and illustrated. The adult of this species has a clavate bothridial seta, with a barbed head distally, which is not common in Achipteria Berlese, 1885; in most species the head is smooth. Notogastral setae c2 and la are long, while the other setae are short, and rounded porose areas are present, of which Aa is the largest. Genua I and II lack anteroventral apophysis, genu IV is approximately as long as tibia IV, and setae bv'' and v'' on femur I and l' on femur III are short. All prodorsal setae of juveniles are minute.
