The cellulosic material is modified by two chemical reactions, acidic hydrolysis and oxidation, both depending on the pH of the paper. Phosphinic and phosphonic acids are useful intermediates and biologically active compounds which may be prepared from their esters, phosphinates and phosphonates, respectively, by hydrolysis or dealkylation. The hydrolysis may take place both under acidic and basic conditions, but the C-O bond may also be cleaved by trimethylsilyl halides. The hydrolysis of P-esters is a challenging task because, in most cases, the optimized reaction conditions have not yet been explored. The use of enzymatic ultrasonic hydrolysis makes it possible to process the skin of deer antlers and obtain a concentrate balanced in fatty acids. The ratio of polyunsaturated and saturated fatty acids in antler samples refers to the “Ideal Lipid”. The fatty acid composition of concentrates from the base of antlers and the skin of antlers is represented by 38 fatty acids, with quite high values of Omega 3 and Omega 6.

The sol-gel transition of tetra-coordinated spirosilicate via hydrolysis and condensation under acidic and basic conditions is examined to elucidate the effect of catalyst, reaction time and temperature on the properties of obtained gel. The main advantage of this process is the low temperature employed, producing a solid network with a high specific surface area. FTIR spectroscopy and TGA analysis were used to characterize the formation of siloxane bonds (Si-O-Si). It is found that spirosilicate can be hydrolyzed under both acid and base catalyzed conditions. Sweet sorghum straw is lignocellulosic material that is promoted as an alternative feedstock for ethanol production because it is available and inexpensive. Due to its composition of cellulose and hemicelluloses, that could be hydrolyzed into fermentable sugars. The composition of sweet sorghum straw used in this study consists of 44.51% cellulose, 38.12% hemicelluloses and 6.18% lignin. Conversion of this potential feedstock requires a pretreatment step to alter the microscopic size and structure of the lignocelluloses. Abstract:
Since melt processing causes degradation of poly(lactic acid) or PLA, it is crucial to understand the effect of extrusion conditions on the molecular weight reduction. Kinetic models found in literature are promising tools to describe hydrolytic, thermal, and mechanical degradation during extrusion. In order to use these models, extrusion parameters (that are equipment dependent) should be translated into the four fundamental parameters that determine degradation: moisture content in PLA, residence time, shear stress history and temperature history. This work presents a methodology to use nume

Abstract:
Insulin is a hormone that is produced in pancreas. It is important for regulation of blood sugar level. The active form of insulin is monomer which contains 51 amino acids in two peptide chains. Currently, improvement of insulin production was done by using recombinant DNA technology in bacteria and yeasts. The obtained recombinant insulin is easier to be purified than the pancreatic insulin. This research has been using the recombinant yeast, Pichia pastoris KM71H (TP1), which has a cassette of monomeric insulin precursor (MIP) to produce recombinant MIP. The recombinant MIP was induced to be

Abstract:
Ustilago maydis is a fungal pathogen of maize. Some strains of U. maydis encode secreted polypeptide toxins capable of killing other susceptible strains of U. maydis. Resistance to the toxins is conferred by recessive nuclear genes. The toxins are encoded by genomic segments of resident double-strande RNA viruses. The best characterized toxin, KP6, is composed of two polypeptides, a and b, which are not covalently linked. It is encoded by P6M2 dsRNA, which has been cloned, sequenced and expressed in a variety of systems. In this study we have shown that the toxin acts on the membranes of sensi

Abstract:
Atrazine is a broadly used herbicide in agriculture and it was used here as a model to study the biodegradation of herbicides. The bacterium Pseudomonas sp. ADP metabolizes atrazine to carbon dioxide and ammonia and chloride. The genes encoding atrazine catabolism to cyanuric acid were cloned and expressed in Escherichia coli. The genes were designated atzA, atzB and atzC. Each gene was sequenced. The enzyme activities were characterized. AtzA is atrazine chlorohydrolase which takes atrazine to hydroxyatrizine. AtzB is hydroxyatrazine N-ethylaminohydrolase which produces N-isopropylammelide an
