Purpose: To analyze MR direct and indirect signs for knees with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) partial or complete tear. Material and Methods: According to documented MR direct and indirect signs for ACL tear, we retrospectively reviewed the incidence of those signs in 15 partial ACL tear and 17 complete ACL tear patients. The findings were also compared with duration of injury (less or more than 6 weeks, as acute or chronic stages). Results: A residual straight and tight ACL fiber in at least one pulse sequence was more frequently detected in partial ACL tears. The empty notch sign, a wavy

Substantial evidence for this mechanism has come from tasks such as the joint Simon task (Sebanz, Knoblich & Prinz, 2003), which show interference from a partner’s task on one’s own performance. The following studies aim to use this mechanism as a measure of children’s joint action abilities and a way of directly comparing adult and child behaviours. The meniscus plays a crucial role in the dynamics of the knee. Damage to the meniscus can influence proprioception, stability, and mobility of the knee [1]. Risk factors of meniscal tears include prolonged or repeated deep knee bending, obesity, and sporting injuries [2]. Acute injury, as seen in alpine sports, involves complex dynamics which can damage singular or multiple tissue structures of the knee [2]. It is not uncommon for meniscal injuries to occur in conjunction with ACL lesions, and the loading imbalance that results in ACL lesions may also initiate meniscal tears [3, 4]. Investigat

After the introduction of Title IX, a federal law prohibiting discrimination based on gender, the number of women involved in high school and collegiate level sports has significantly increased. Increasing the number of female athletes has a direct correlation with the amount of injuries experienced by these women. One of the most common injuries to female athletes is a sprain or a tear in the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) located in the knee. The ACL is one of the main components in the stabilization of the knee. A strain or tear to the ACL causes everyday life to be impacted significantly

Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear is one of the most common sport-related injuries and the request for ACL reconstructions is increasing nowadays. Unfortunately, ACL graft failures may occur in about 5.2% of cases. Unrecognized concomitant meniscus and ligamentous lesions are estimated to be responsive of about 15% of ACL reconstruction failures. Isolated ACL reconstruction in this setting may not be enough to properly restore knee stability. If not properly treated, such lesions may expose ACL graft to excessive stress, thus predisposing to failure. This article aims at highlighting the r

Numerous studies have demonstrated that ACL deficiency could lead to further meniscus tear and cartilage degeneration. The post-injury joint degeneration has been mainly attributed to altered joint kinematics caused by ACL deficiency. Therefore, understanding of the effect of ACL injuries on knee joint motion is critical for development of conservative treatment or surgical reconstruction of the ACL injured knees. However, few data have been reported on the influence of ACL deficiency on knee joint motion during gait [1,2] — the most commonly performed daily activities. The objective of this s

Based on data from 278 intact senior leadership teams, our results provide three key insights: More than half (62%) of senior leadership teams in our sample demonstrated significant variability around their team’s psychological safety. We identified six prototypical patterns of psychological safety among teams, with only one representing a shared view of psychological safety. Ot

In this paper we discuss several pervasive myths and misperceptions about teams and teamwork. We also introduce an evidence-based framework for moving beyond these myths and misperceptions. We shared several statements about teamwork to over 1,300 working adults. On average, across all the myths and respondents, 62% of respondents agreed with the myths we presented, 21% were uncertain, and only 17% disagree. This suggests that over 80% of respondents either endorsed, or expressed uncertainty about, myths relating to fundamental aspects of teamwork. Given the pervasiveness and lack of clarity s
